What humans that are left are scattered across the world living in cities that pale in comparison to ones just a few years earlier. The three superpowers that remain are drained of manpower, materials and the will to carry on fighting. None of them able to conquer each other they prefer to stick to the status quo and skirmish over small pieces of land at their border. Will one of the nation states be able to unite the world and lead humanity into a glorious golden age of intergalactic conquest or will they enter a new dark age the likes of which humanity has never seen before. Time will tell but for now, there is only one certainty. In the grim darkness of the future. There is only war.

Even the USA has around the same amount of ethnical germans (or at least partly german) as germany itself. However, most of those people might know about their heritage but wouldn't consider themselves as germans.

During one point in my play through, Egypt declared a surprise war on me and LITERALLY threw every troop they had (this was during 1100s) all cavalry units, a single swordsman and about 3 crossbowmen and 6 chariots. My navy is EXTREMELY powerful for the point of the game I am in and I ripped them to shreds before they could cross the border. The ones that did were either sniped buy my crossbows or bombarded by my cities and barracks. They ran out of units without dealing a single point of damage to any of my things. Cleopatra instantly asked for peace but I declined because I could easily take one of their cities. I had reinforcements on the way because I was worried i was gonna get beasted but they arrived and took one of the cities. I made peace and asked for hundreds of gold.

The YNAMP mod has a setting called "Terra" which lets you use an old world continent that everyone starts on and everyone eventually colonizes the "New World" continent. You can set it up so that the old world is the same always and the new world is different, or vice versa. It'd be cool to experiment with!
