"How Bollywood Gave Britney Spears Her Greatest Hit" a great video by INSIDER. Its barely 7 mins long and explains a lot about how Indian music influenced world music without people even knowing about it.
a lot has been taken out of India (post-independence as well) in terms of music, fashion, dance, culture in general.. we are very diverse, and giving. Yet there's a very less appreciation for India as a whole. We are never in top 100 of international music charts, we are told that our culture is very rich yet there's little to no empathy towards us. We are looked down upon, attacked, framed in so many different levels and ranges.
So well put...there is absolutely no recognition of the contribution from India or Indians. Any successful inventor or CEO of Indian origin suddenly becomes full-blown American even though he might have just gotten there less than 10 years back. And then, some stupid Americans have the gall of asking Indians who have been legally there for more than 20 years (and paying tons of taxes. All Indians have to pay taxes even as students) to go 'back' to India. The hypocrisy is extraordinary & becoming unbearable.
Thats why we love when someone praise our culture , it is not that we are bragging and all, its just we forget what its actually feel after independence , We have seen alot of shit since 200 Years.

As a Sri Lankan, I agree that Bollywood and Kollywood (as the second largest race in Sri Lanka are Tamils) had a massive influence in us and our music + culture growing up. Although there are obvious overlaps, Sri Lankan traditional music, dance music (like Baila) are homegrown with our distinctive flavours. But yes, we predominately watch Indian movies (some Indian movies often doing bigger numbers in SL than in India haha) as such the influence is apparent. And M.I.A is probably the most distinguished Tamil artist to have Sri Lankan roots!

Checkout her dancing in the following songs:Taal se taal mila, (1999), Film: Taal, Music by AR Rahman. Dola Re Dola, (2002) Film: Devdas, Music by Ismail Darbar. Anthony Gonsalves was a famous music arranger from Mumbai, India and the teacher of Pyarelal, one of the musician duo Laxmikant- Pyarelal who composed this song. They used the name in honor of his teacher. Also, I dunno if it's this video or some other coz been watching your videos since an hour. At 154:59, you ask: "What's the name of this woman?" That is Aishwarya Rai - Miss World 1994. Although I am a fan of Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai appeals to many in Latin and South America. Checkout her dancing in the following songs:Taal se taal mila, (1999), Film: Taal, Music by AR Rahman. Dola Re Dola, (2002) Film: Devdas, Music by Ismail Darbar. You may also enjoy the music in the two songs.

This makes me even more angry that why bollywood is not doing originals now
Because we dont have that kind of music directors anymore. Only 1 or 2 decent music directors are their, we dont have that kind music directors, who have ability to influence generations.
Becoz nepos have took over industry also now it has full control of arabs so imp to make talent out of there without permissions by arabs
