Fabulous, thank-you. I’ve never seen the double sided tape trick. Great for when you screw up rewinding. I just got a dark bag. Do you put something in the bag so it acts like tent? I understand the principle but I’m wondering what flexible material would work well?
I don’t use a dark bag as I have a full size darkroom but a dark bag will work just fine. The tape method works but does take a little trial and error.
Like the "just lick it" method, the "double-sided tape"(same sticky idea) method requires a happy combination of getting the sticky stuff into the cartridge without fouling on the felt lips of the cartridge, plus being able to turn the film roll just far enough to pass the end of the "sticky", then reverse roll it back onto the "sticky". This is hardly the easier thing to do and requires a lot of practice to pick up. And, he didn't even demonstrate how you do that last part. Since there are at least a hundred other YT videos demonstrating this same trick, and most of them do it better, the question for Jimbo here is, "why did you post this video".
Nice video!
Thank you!!
I have never considered inserting just the leader into the reel prior to moving it into the dark bag. What a great idea. Great tips all around!
This is brilliant . Thank you
You’re welcome Lou! Thanks for the inspiration 👍
Awesome presentation. I wish I had one of those film pullers back in the film era.
They’ve been around forever. My wife ran a film lab in the 80’s and this is how film was loaded into the processing machines.
Just brilliant, makes so much sense! Thanks, Jim.
Glad it was helpful!
As a B&W lab tech for the the JC - we will introduce this simple method to the students having issues. Thnx for sharing.
You are quite welcome!
Wow! Recently i dive into film photography and the film-loading is the part that scares me the most. This tip makes it so much easier. Thank you!!!
You are very welcome! Contact me if I can help in any way. linktr.ee/jsollows
Definitely will try this next time thanks
