- We take on one of our most intimidating challenges to date! Pouring a large outdoor slab for our sawmill. We went into it apprehensive but came out of the other side unscathed. We share our DIY experience and a very important lesson we learned.
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀

My Saturday night just got so much better 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I thought the exact same thing 😊
And me!
Me too... 😍😍😍
Yes❣️✨🙌🏻✨
I agree. Watching their channel has become a routine of mine. Every video is fun to watch. Seeing their many adventures , it almost makes me want to live in the bush. To Eric & ARIEL , Keep up making great videos.
Love when you include the date, sunrise, sunset and temperatures!
Guys, Im truly amazed at how far you've come in the past four years. It's a testament as to what hard work, determination, passion and desire have in common when it comes to what a wonderful couple like yourselves have been able to accomplish. You've proven that there are NO EXCUSES in life!!!!!! Simply amazing!!!! Thank you both for giving us all years of pure joy watching you achieve your dream!!!!
🥰 thank you!!
Well said!!
Totally agree!
You are an amazing couple!
Couldn't have said it better 👏
You guys are so industrious! Fascinating to watch the progress on things on your property. I'm not sure I could deal with the mosquitoes, they love my blood. My wife can be sitting two feet from me and having a wonderful evening while I feel I need a small mesh medieval chain mail suit on in the evenings. Anyway, love you guy's synergy, compatibility, and most of all for sharing with all of us living vicariously through your efforts! I've also learned so much over the years while watching you which is especially inspiring. Thank you!!
For never have done concrete before you two did a good job, and thumbs up to that driver for jumping in and helping out I've never seen a driver do that in the 10 years I did concrete! 👍👍
I've been doing concrete work off and on for about 30 years. I can say yall did a great job .. one thing I would like to suggest is that if your concerned, the concrete will set to quickly. Wet the dirt underneath, the concrete will absorb the water.and you can always ask the concrete driver to spray a little water in the drum to make the concrete wetter. That's how we do it in the here in the south when it gets 100 + degrees in the summer. Thanks for the entertaining videos. Bless you both..
I was in commercial construction for 25 years. I was laughing at them. They were so anxious but doing a good job. I was watching saying week if you get a mild rain tonight, it would be good.

Family also does concrete. Most 1st timers don't do this well on their 1st time.
Flipping right, you two ARE unstoppable. What a fantastic job. You have every right to feel proud of yourselves. That was awesome. Initially I thought Eric was clearing the weeds to prepare for the garden which I cannot wait to watch. Another’s box ticked, you have so many skills under your belt now, awesome as always. Stay safe x
I wish they’d make a tiny garden too! I can’t wait to see everything they do! 🎉
I'm always tripping over "what these guys could do! Then trying not to say anything. Since first seeing the Quonset Hut type build I've been wanting to "suggest" ~ Knee Walls ~. Concrete Knee Walls ~. At least four feet high all around to "raise the roof" so to speak. I've seen this done and it makes such huge huge difference. The Quonset Hut type build is all about a concrete foundation. Raising the "Arch" gives much more use to the floor space. ~ Just saying ~. If they ask ~ I never said this.
😂😮😢😂iup
Great job you two looking forward to seeing the sawmill up and running take care of you folks 🎉 Pete cape town south Africa
@@kristyjones7657😊😊😊
Glad to see the driver jump out to help you guys. Love all the content of your life 🎉
Bigger is always better. Everyone always says I wish I had built it bigger. I love your channel. Good job guys!!!!
I love how you always stop and film the bugs or whatever. Just Stop and breath and smell the roses like everyone should. OH MY GOSH this was so stressful the anticipation of that truck arrival!! Ok that was incredible. I can not believe how amazing you did. FAntastic. Yes that fellow was amazing helping out and guiding. And that is one heck of a mean slab. Nice job. Perfect. I never thought I could get so excited watching concrete poured like this. It is actually very interesting the process. I am so impressed Arielle how you just kept up with pulling that stuff I can not even imagine how heavy it was. I mean I can imagine and that is just incredible. What a great finish! hugs!
Your debriefing is epic!
Your concrete work is superior!
Your nervous stress was fun to watch!
Your concrete screed practice was magical!
Your concrete driver was fantastic!
He was such a blessing to you two!
Your concrete pour was a symphony!
Well done grasshopper!
This was so good, I watched it three times :).
@@silviasimpson8140 Me too! So far! 😆
You guys are knockin' it outa the park, one project at a time! Thanks for showing the whole concrete project instead of splitting into 2 vids like some channels like to do. And Pepper is a Wild Woman!
Isn't she?! I think she loves it here ❤
@@SimpleLivingAlaska Also loved your "square" dancing, Arielle!
That cement truck driver is a champion for helping out like he did! 👍👍
WOW!!! Amazing Job! Thank you for taking us along on your journey, Can't wait to see what you do next! God bless you.
As soon as I saw the driver helping my jaw dropped. Super cool of him. The aluminum skreets are heavier than wood.
Sitting here on Saturday night watching this video because everything you show us is better than everything on television. Well done.
I so wish you were on at least twice a week!Liike I always say you both are better than any TV show out there. Love and hugs from Pennsylvania Sincerly Melody
They do post twice a week.
@@vanillaswirl87 I haven't seen 2 video hmm I will have to look into that thank you very much 😊
Driver helping was 💯 awesome for leading help! Good people rock. Good job on first large pad 👍

Spectacular alright!
Go that groovy girl
And that great guy.
Pats to the furs.

Okay guys, you freaking slayed that slab. 10 yards of concrete! I’m in traction after just watching you guys work that concrete.
You guys were so lucky that the delivery driver was willing to pitch in and help. That is so rare now a days.
Perfect proof of "Feel the Fear, and do it anyway" Fantastic achievement, I'm really stoked for you both! XXX
I’ve been building concrete forms for a long time. You guys did great! Seriously! I’m impressed!
Yall did a good job for someone that has no or little experience. Thumbs up. That's how you learn. Just do it.
Love the fact you have a kitty and two pup's
Y’all had a really good driver. He helped you. Most wouldn’t. I know I’ve delivered a LOT of concrete. I would have helped. 😊 good job y’all! Looked very professional.
You two truly amaze me. That slab it beautiful. What a job you did. Thank you for taking us along. Can’t wait to see what’s next. Rest up tonight. Take care✌️🇺🇸❤️
You even surprised me watching you two do this project together. Concrete work is hard and time is always against you and it looks simply great. Waiting for the next one
What a lovely driver. Helping you guys out. Good one
Don’t always comment because we watch on the tv most times but wanted to say we love your Chanel! My husband and his dad owned a trash company so he says Eric is a good man and smart. We have been following for about 3 years now so happy for you both!
I work construction for 30 years you guys are so amazing you did it perfectly I can't wait to see the rest of your adventures bless the both of you
Hi, these videos are always something I look forward to. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to make my day. Its a very professional looking pad.. I am glad you are so pumped regarding your accomplishments. Be proud and continue to build your dreams 🎉
Having worked for a concrete finishing company for 22 years I was worried that this might be an epic fail, but was pleasantly surprised to see how it turned out. I applaud your efforts and will never again doubt your noob enthusiasm again for those "big" jobs that simply turn out a thousand times better than expected. Well done you. Pro tip: buy a diamond saw blade and put some relief cuts in that bad boy so your Alaskan winters don't destroy it. Much love from Canada
Best channel ever. Got my wife into them and now we watch you two on our lunch breaks
Kudos to the concrete driver that was awful nice of him to help! 💪🏽💪🏽
He wasn't being nice, he just knew he would never get out of there if he didn't help. He probably had another delivery that was scheduled.
@@MAGAMAN well I was kind of thinking the same thing. I built a lot of things from Lowe's to Wendy's as the GC and I've seen a lot of different situations with concrete drivers!
I absolutely adore and admire both of you due the way you take on projects, research and tools in hand, with that incredible always present work ethic in place!!
Oh my, I think anything you choose to do, you can and will do, and do it correctly and beautifully! Sometimes, you two just take my breath away! Keep living the dream, Eric and Arielle!!💕
the joy on Erics face when Ariel said ...Im happy with it!!!
I really like it when you give the date, the sunrise/ sunset and temperatures at the beginning! You are so far north that the difference from my home in Texas is so great! My husband and I really enjoy traveling to Alaska and the full day of sunshine is always amazing! You two are doing such a a fantastic job with this new property! Way to go!!!
Hats off to that driver for helping you two. That was really nice of him.
epic dance moves, enthusiasm, laughter, nature, emotional maturity with affectionate moments. you two are truly simply living Alaska.
You both always amaze me with your work ethics and how you both work together. Once again did awesome ❤
I and my husband did a 24 x24 monolithic slab about 30 years ago and the exact anxious moments but the same results. It is empowering I even later took that knowledge and built a 10 x10 slab for a hottub all on my own. the driver even complemented me on how well that 10 x10 was done and nothing has cracked even 30 years later. congratulations on a successful pour. and I'm a women . so note all you women out there you can do it too.
You guys amaze me. There is nothing you won’t tackle. I love your channel. So exciting to see what you do next.
Yesterday I saw this picture on Google! The title said " couples lay concrete slab by themselves! It's a great idea that saw mill is going to work even better than before! This property is amazing!🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
Seeing Arielle being a goof…..this may be my favorite video so far! 😂😂😂😂😊
Literally laying the foundation for your future builds! You work together beautifully and under great pressure. You live a beautiful life in a challenging environment. Love from our family to yours!
That's awesome!! Nice job, you two are a great couple working together. Thank God no moose came wondering on it 😊 God bless everyone who reads this comment.
Gosh I love seeing what a great team you two are, all your years of practice together really shine😊
Kudos to you both. Not often that you find 2 "concrete rookies" take on a slab of that size dor their 1st project. You both should be proud of your work. BTW, the sawmill won't know the difference. 😂
You nailed it, I can understand your anxiety beforehand. Concrete can be unforgiving and you don’t get a lot of chances but you were completely prepared and the driver was awesome. Looking forward to seeing this project progress.
I felt your guys stress. That was a crazy pour. You both did a fantastic job. Thank you for sharing your life with us!
Always a joy watching you two 'work' together. Yes it's physical labor, but you have a good time in the process. Growing, laughing, loving...
Thank you for being you.
One more thing: Arielle can dance!!
What a treat, I didn’t expect a video until tomorrow. Awesome project! Heck yeah, be proud. I was so proud for y’all. How nice of the driver to help, seems like the Alaskan thing to do. This is all so exciting, watching all that you are doing, and still all the things to come, it’s like a book I can’t put down, a real page-turner, you two. Best wishes!
There are mixer operators and there are mixer driver's. You got a mixer operator. It means a lot to people when they help out. I hauled concrete for 10 years.
"The steps are, it's gonna be crazy." This comment spoke to me deeply. You all prepared so much congratulations on such a great job!
So happy for you. I know how satisfying it is to complete a project that you've been planning and dreading for a while. You did great!
I’m in aww! Such hard workers and done with methodical research and attention to detail. IMPRESSIVE!!!!
Always enjoy seeing new & updated videos from y'all...cheers from Texas
More of Arielle’s happy dances! 😊
You guys crack me up! You know how to do a million things, so it kinda makes me giggle when I see you figuring something out for the first time. I LOVE your spirit of cooperation and "we can do anything" attitudes.
Wow, super job folks, you had an awesome driver to pitch in and help out, he is a gem. Its difficult to fine tune the exact amount of concrete and its better to error on extra than short. You scored an A+ on a difficult job. 👍👌🦋🕷🐝🚜
Amazing completion; thanks for sharing! Great that the concrete fellow helped! I love how bandit had to inspect the perfect concrete! The outtakes were so fun, too! Have a great week all 🤗💜🇨🇦
The concrete looks amazing! What a great job you did, even under stress and not sure how it would turn out. I loved the big hug!
Omg tears are rolling down my cheeks with pure happiness you found her such a good home,as Libby was a favorite of mine.😊
"Don't you ever think its a beautiful time to be alive?" 🥺 You guys are making a world that it is! The life/world you're building for yourselves is just inspiring. Thank you for everything you share with us
You two work so well together. Not surprised the concrete guy wanted to help. He wanted to be involved in your amazing teamwork!
You guys are a Beautiful Husband and wife... truly you are a Team!
all the years i've watched you this is the most stressed i have ever seen you both good job guys you will be so much more relaxed for the workshoppour
HELLO to you Eric, Arielle, and of course Bandit, Bo, and Pepper ! 😁 LOVE following you with your new challenges at the new property. You are doing so great accomplishing a lot in your time-limiting environment. Can't say enough thanks for sharing your adventure...LOVE YOU GUYS 😊 ( From SW Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 )
Loved when Eric made one pass with the bull float and declared "we could start a company"! Ha ha. Great job. It looks terrific.
Blown away. I have that 'underachiever feeling'. ...like when I think back to the summers when I was a 12-year-old, playing neighborhood baseball, climbing trees, and riding my bike and see someone else, the same age, practicing for their first figure skating entry in the Winter Olympics. You two are killing it.
That was no small feat! You guys work so well together and plan it to the smallest detail! Big kudos to you guys! Lots of admiration from here!
You both are truly inspirational with all the projects you attempt and are successful with! Thanks again for sharing!! Cheers Linda
You guys are just like kids on Chritmas morning! Soooo excited for something new.
Always enjoy the shots of the cat. The dogs fit into the wild, but the cat always looks like he's lost.
I love how hard you two work together but still find a moment for a cuddle, living and working together 24/7 shows you have a marriage made in heaven,to me you have one of the best channels on you tube,I never tire of watching you and I really appreciate you sharing your journey with us,thank you❤
You guys are really natural at a lot of stuff people would never know it's your first time because you're so good at it.
Wow! As soon as you started floating it, I was in awe! Great job!
Love seeing the notification when you guys post a video. I cant wait to see all your projects, how your garden area will be and hopefully you guys get to make a cellar again with this new property. I cant wait to see your canning and more food videos again. You guys help me keep hope I will have my own little farm one day and be able to make so many projects myself. Keep up the good work 🙂❤ and hope everything keeps getting better for you two .
JAZZED‼ GOOD Job❗💯You Two work well together💛 💜 all our prep work paid off, you were READY --- Get Set ❗- GO‼
"After you build it and use it for a while, it's never too big"
Spoken like a true man... love it
You guys are really lucky that you had an experienced driver AND he jumped out and helped you!!! Kudos to him!
I'll say it again, you two are awesome together. Great job and you should be very proud of yourselves.😊
I’m no expert, but that concrete looks awesome to me!!!!!!! I’m so happy and proud for you!!!! I was very glad to hear you could get the concrete delivered. You guys are amazing!!! Stay safe and healthy❤️
I worked on a concrete crew two summers while in college. One year we were replacing curbs , gutters and sidewalks in a ten square block area . The next year we were pouring a four lane road along the river front.
The first summer I learned a lot about form setting and figuring how much concrete to order. I was never the responsible person for that but assisted enough that it looked doable.
The second summer we were using metal forms and had a motorized screed that road the forms . We were pouring two lanes at a time and the concrete was 18” thick . A typical day involved an average of 150 to 200 yards of concrete . Then we would strip the forms from the pour from two days ago and set them to be poured the next day .
I was really impressed with the way that you attacked your project . Your result is amazing. I know you are proud.
I appreciate Ariel’s perfectionism , weren’t you a dental hygienist in your other life ……. ?
You can’t be a GOOD RDH if you aren’t a perfectionist. I had the good fortune off working with two hygienists in my practice who made it a joy . I’m sure that there is a practice in the lower 48 that was sorry to see you go !
I really enjoy watching your adventures. Your fishing trips are especially interesting to me. I have been a fisherman from birth .
Can’t wait to see what you get into next . 🤔🙃👍
Three, maybe four years ago I started watching your videos and the thing that stood out to me was this amazing connection and teamwork that just inspired me so much. You guys have it figured out. A few years down the road and that’s still the thing I always notice. Much respect to you both and looking forward to the next video 👏👏👏🙌
Great job, guys! I just had a 24 x 40 slab poured for my shop at the farm, and yours looked just a professionally done as the one my contractor did!
😊 lets give props to the driver who came out ans gave you a hand!!!!!!
Great job! Amazing how well you two work together. It going to look great when finished.
Your driver was an absolute Prince! But then you’re in Alaska. You were very much short handed, but the front delivery truck saved your bacon. Speaking of which, breakfast looked terrific. You should give your concrete company a shout out in the instructions. GOOD JOB! Concrete makes people crazy and anxious. Even old hands. I will be looking forward to more on your sawmill in the future. Take care, thanks for the post, and once again, nice work.
That was a huge - and significant - project. Your teamwork and patience with each other is exemplary. Well done on a perfectly finished concrete pad - it will be awesome to see the mill functioning on it. Yes, covering the pad will be another project and we look forward to everything you do. Thank you for sharing your journey and life with us.
Your cement pad looks AWESOME! Very nicely done
Beautiful job amazing job y’all are fantastic I am totally hooked on watching your projects and how beautiful they come out. You two work harder than anyone holding down a job. Love 💕 y’all!
Wasn’t expecting a video drop tonight. Was thinking earlier it would be nice! Thank you for all you do! You two are great!
Y’all just do everything well.. I have never seen two people successfully and beautifully handle a concrete pour… it’s always a team of folks. Very well done!
Guys…I kept waiting to see you indent your initials into one corner of the slab. That’s a must when concreting a home project. Great job. Really, a terrific job. I’m glad you’re proud of yourselves. You deserve to be. You both make me smile such a lot, so thank for sharing these times with us. Best wishes, as always, from Australia 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇦🇺🦘
Ariel is such a multi-tasker! Laying down concrete while busting out the dance moves! It is just how us Alaskans roll! 🤣
Nice work! It's so much fun watching all of these new projects! You guys are amazing!
You both are amazing- can’t wait to see it finished!
This couple proves that if you are on the same page you can achieve so much.
your u tube is my favorite, i am so amazed by u both, well done , cant wait till your next u tube, keep safe,
