Frank this song is played at some planes whent they are arriving at Rio de Janeiro. from Paris and when the plane was close to Antonio Carlos Jobim Airport the pilot played this song. I gor very very excited and started cry. It was a great experience cause the day was perfect with sun, blues sky and nice view of the beaches. I ill never forget that day. Na verdade o inventor da Bossa Nova foi Jhonny Alf. Ouçam "Rapaz de Bem", uma composição de Alf, de 1953, que possui todos os elementos da Bossa. Aquela que é considerada a primeira ou o marco zero da Bossa de Jobim, "Chega de Saudade", só é lançada em 1959. Tom é sim o maior expoente do gênero e, sem dúvida, o maior mestre compositor em sua totalidade. Mas a história apagou Johnny Alf, muito devido ao fato de ser negro e homossexual, o que para a época em que a Bossa Nova atingiu seu apogeu (o concerto no Carnegie Hall em NY, que contou com a presença de Jobim e Gilberto), era um fator muito mais limitante, do que na atualidade, se é que algo mudou tanto...

This is bossa-nova, not jazz. This n is one of the most important bossa-nova composers . Admired around the world. Including he composes Garota de Ipanema and others wonderful musics. He was a genius, a lot of singers at US have him as a reference and has sang his songs.
