- At last, the long awaited JETHRO PROGRAMME for the XP DEUS 2.
I’ve been using this for about five months and almost every single video I’ve shot over that period has been using this programme.
I’m running the XP DEUS 2 on VERSION 2.0 alongside the 13” coil. You’ll need to be on the latest software to use it 2.0 or 1.1
Have a try and see how you get on with it!

Welcome to the sunny fields of Somerset Great program thank you , installed it two day ago used it yesterday, found a Roman coin plus other things good all round program
It' was a pleasure to watch John and, thank you and Jethro for sharing it.
Hi John. I upgraded to version 2.0 and installed the jethro program. Just got back from detecting and obviously used the jethro program and had my best day in ages so thanks to jethro and thanks to you for sharing. My go to program now for sure. Love your videos and keep up the good work mate 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing John. And to Jethro. Look forward to giving it a go 👍
Jethro in use today 7 hours pasture in Cumbria 3 silver and a Swiss pocket watch
Every time you say Jethro my mind goes straight to "Jethro Bodine." I can't help it. I've tried to stop it. I just can't help it. So I just smile and chuckle to myself and try to put it out of my mind. It is a 1970's thing. You may not remember or it may not even be a thing in Scotland.
I was afraid I was the only one old enough to remember the Beverly Hillbillies.
I'm thick as a brick, so I'm more likely to think of Jethro Tull. Cheers from New Orleans
@@rhettoracle9679 I’m with you on that. I listened to Tull regularly, BevHill was an occasional distraction.
Cheers 🍻
used Jethro for 2hrs today and it turned up a James 1st penny around 4" down so happy with it and it quieter than some others , so good on the ears , will use again next time out thanks Jethro
Wish I had a Deus 2 to try this, but I'm happy with my Legend. Love these technical videos, John!
Hi John,
as proposed I testet the Jethro Program (thank you for sharing) against SFT and DHC programs (both with disc 7.0, full tones, Silencer 1, bottle cap 0, notch 7 - 35). Test target was a medium-sized silver coin (.640, 23.5mm, 5.2 grams), which I buried at 9" depth in my garden 2 years ago. All three programs had no problem picking up the target, but the Jethro Pr. not as loud and clear as the other two (same audio response and reactivity settings on all three of them). Winner by as slight margin was SFT (as expected all programs work best with 14 kHz Max.Frequ.). I´m afraid to say, I don´t see any advantage in the Jethro Pr. (at least not with this particular target under the particular soil conditions in my garden).
Best regards from Austria
Thank you for sharing. I'll be giving it a try this weekend.
My son follows your channel John ,I field tested tekkna against my Roman program and the Roman program came out top , Cambridgeshire detectorists myths and facts deus 1 and 11. And tekkna versus Roman , I spoke to jethro while we sat around camp fire in feb , detecting rally minus 4 lol it was a great weekend
Too funny.... I was using the diving program on fields back when the Deus 2 got released. My buds were laughing at me but it works well on deep low conductors as you know. Another sidebar is you can help out with EMI such as power lines by using the Salt Sense.
I usually have my audio output for headphones at 9.
Audio filter at 5,as I like the long smooth tones .
And the audio offset at 15.
Everything else as the Scottish Detectorist has described.
Blessings and thanks, my Scottish Detectorist friend, from this old man in Tennessee. JETHRO…cool beans. Hmmmm…Gary Blackwell…must be a relative..ly cool dude.
👍🏻 Thanks for the video.
Many thanks will try out on Sunday dig
Thanks for sharing
Cheers mucka will give it a try on Sunday
Thank you for sharing the “Jethro” program, I had a Deus 2 and want to compare veteran detectorist programs with soils.
Excellent
I’ve got a couple of really deep custom progs but for quick coverage I have not found the answer so will try this on Sunday. Cheers 👍
set up on my machine and like the testing with my favorite targets. we have no mineralization here but tons of iron at plantation sites. hopefully give it a run next week. thanks and always like your videos. take care
“Tons of iron” Then drop the Salt Sens to 1,as this quietens the sparky signals.
M8 I have tried this jethro and the forager program and set up some testing in my garden. I was very surprised think you should try it out. I had two Roman bronze fibula silvecut quarter gold ring and lead cloth seal. I have not seen you dig any Roman fibula but yes you do get small brass.try both the forager jethro against the fast program. I was a bit surprised the fast program beat both and picked up my small fibula ware the jethro and forager did not.
Be great to see for the master settings
That detector looks way to complicated for me lol I’ll stick to my minelab gold monster 1000 (since there’s very little relics in my area ) as I only detect for gold. Thanks for letting John share this jethro see you on the next one👍🏼👊🏼
Just as I’d caught up you do another one lol
may be good on the beach as well what you think
Do you ever get tennis elbow or numbness in your fingers? I am a flint knapper and I get both when I’m doing alot of pressure flaking. I have been thinking about getting a detector. As if I need another hobby, I do find many old home sites while I am arrowhead hunting. Makes me wonder what I could find on them.
Great, thanks very much John, I’ll give that a go 🤞Can I ask - does it wear down the battery faster? I used Gary’s Tekkna a few times with sensitivity on 95 but it used my battery up quite a lot quicker. I can usually get around 8hrs on the Sens FT but only several on the Tekkna. It’s a good programme though.
Agreed Tekkna and deep hc does deplete batter usually get 6 hours mixed prog use
Hi John so far so good on garden test what is lowest I'd number do you ignore or do you go on tones thanks carl
I hope John doesn’t mind me answering for him,as he is busy.
I generally dig anything above 30.
If I had reason to believe there was fine gold,I would dig 27-28,with an
Adjustment to tone breaks.
Diving???? How did Jethro go down that rabbit hole! Quite a difference from Sensi FT. Thanks for sharing and will let you know how I get on.
It cuts out mineralisation and punches deep.
@@jethrocarpenter3106 Well I have to say that I am impressed. Hammered silver from a field that I thought was finished.
Hi John, thanks for the program. One question, magnetic on or off?
On
Grazie Jethro…. 👍💪
@@jethrocarpenter3106 Hi Jethro, I tried your program today. It works really well, better than many others. I only increased the reactivity to 3, but it still goes deep. Thanks again for sharing it. I use it often.
Only problem i see is program 10 who will drain battery like program 6 Deep HC wirking up to 8 h and rest about 12h for coil.
I can use it all day easily 8 or more hours.
No mitsy?
Can you write all that down please !
Grabbed it off the transcript file !
The tekkna program that you mentioned has worked really well for me here in the Midwest part of the United States. I'll be interested in giving this Jethro program a try. Thanks to you and Jethro for sharing
