if it's a gaelic word, because the alphabet changed from Gaelic to the one Irish monks invented in 4-5century to adapt to latin language, they lost some letters and gained some more, 100 years later it came to be known as the Anglo-Saxon script (stealing our glorious history), anyhow Geit means Shock or Fright, but as there is differences in spelling because of interpretation of how aleph beit changed from ancient Gaelic one to the one adapted by the Irish, later called Anglo Saxon, so the word could be Gat which could mean Spear or Ray, or Place where Rays meet, ie rays of the sun? anyhow I would go with the latter one, it's not the spelling it's the sound. Ge in Gaelic means Geese, maybe house of rays or house of geese or house of fright/shock. Cairn means heap of stones, or pile of stones, usually to commemorate something, so Get might be a name of a person.
