Kickdown Cable Replacement | TH350 Transmission | G-Body | '78 Monte Carlo

In this video I replace the kickdown (Detent) cable on my TH350 transmission. I also add the Edelbrock P/N 8030 bracket along with a Mr. Gasket P/N 3683 bracket.

It worked for me. Could work for you as well. I would say to do a bit more research and make sure what you have.

My transmission acting up all of a sudden. I havent drove it. I topped off the trans fluid, I put my interior in, Im trying to backtrack n think about if I touched anything that would create an issue. After watching this Im hoping I didnt burn my shit up because of my cable. It had hella slack. N I did see smoke last time it was turned on. I assumed it was some undercarriage paint I used near exhaust. All gears seemed to be workin fine, but when in drive it won't pass first gear. We'll see. Good video.

Damn! That sucks. Try checking the vacuum hose to the vacuum modulator on the transmission. It could have disconnected. No vacuum to the tranny could cause it not to shift out of 1st. Hopefully, it's as simple as that.

You can adjust the detent cable from the bracket so you don’t have to change the bracket

The cable was already all the way in. It didn't have any play, which is why I had to move the bracket back. This was explained in the video.
