You explained this so beautifully and simply. And you don't presume that the viewer knows very much, taking it from simply making the slip knot to the very end, and even explaining that the last two chains don't really count as chains for the row. Thank you for this wonderful tutorial!

This is the stitch I use when a pattern calls for a ch 3 at the very beginning of the row.
I do the ext. SC there bc it's wider and gets rid of that dreaded 'gap' between the ch 3 and the next stitch, which is a DC.
Only thing to remember is you don't have to do a turning ch at all at the end of the row below. You just do ur last stitch, turn, work extended SC into the very 1st stitch, then you DC into very next stitch. This is mostly for a pattern that is done in all dc. Hope that makes sense.
Oh, and when you get to the end of the row, it is not hard to find and work ur last stitch into the top of the ext SC.
I just may use this to make my next dish cloth..it works up faster than doing all sc's too. 😊🧶

@@DaysCrochet You're welcome. Correct. You just do your last stitch of the row ur working on, turn, do ext'd SC into very 1st stitch. I learned that from Rebekah from Blossom Crochet channel. She has a tutorial on it if you want to check it out. For me, it comes out wider and fills the gap when the next stitch is a dc. I don't use it in all patterns...just when I see the need to. 😊💜

I could see this in lieu of the plain background single crochet rows on the three color flower stitch you posted recently. I think it would be much prettier than single crochet (anything is!), 2 rows would give you as much height as the 3 rows you did, and, as I commented on that, would allow you to carry colors up the side, eliminating the need to weave in a million ends. I’ll have to try it!

Could you do an extended single crochet moss stitch
Haha-haha-hah on me, I thought I invented some sort of "standing chain stitch" for myself because I didn't have a teacher or videos when I started crocheting, and I accidentally did this stitch and thought it looked cute and gave good texture, so I used it. There's also one I thought I invented that I call "the dancing chicken", but it's probably called something like the "extended double crochet". Is there such a thing?
Wish you had demo the last stitch in the second row. I have so much trouble with ending my row in the correct stitch

Can you usè this to make a bag?
In what instance would you use this stitch? What’s it good for, I mean? I hope my question makes sense 🤦🏻♀️
I would use it in place of the single crochet (SC) or if not that, I would just do it just as a 'new' stitch..like when making a wash cloth, scarf, blanket, etc.
The extended SC is great with a little bit bigger hook than ball band suggests (like half a size or going up one size bigger) too, for extra drape - as just a SC is a more dense stitch and can make ur project kinda stiff.
Oh a little added bonus too is that doing the extended SC with a bigger hook makes your project work up fast than just the regular sc would. Hope that helps.😊🧶🧶
