My father walked away from my mother and I when I was a young child. I met him many years later and he could never give me any answers. Simply put, he didn’t have any. I have raised two amazing children to adulthood along side my incredible wife and best friend. I just can’t imagine what it would take to walk away from your own children. My message is that history doesn’t have to repeat…
... but it often does. PS: Congrats on breaking the chain!
Sometimes it’s better they walk away considering these evil husbands taking their entire families out.Sad as it is
The answer is: he didnt want to be a father anymore. Easy for men to walk away
@@bellei365 It may be easy for men to walk away, but I ask why and how? I know this happens all the time. I just can’t understand it. I know from my situation that my father left my mother and I was kind of collateral damage. He remarried shortly afterwards and I have a half brother whom I met some 40 years ago but I have no idea where he is now… That’s also part of the collateral damage. My father left that woman and child, married again later but in the end left her before he died. I have many relatives I’ve never met and I’m only peripherally aware of. I do know of situations where fathers have left but stayed involved with their children’s lives-I just don’t know how common that is compared with the situation we’re talking about here. If anyone has any insight as to what goes on in the mind of a man who can leave his children and never want to see them again, I’m genuinely curious…

I think the insight you need needs to come from your own father, not a generic, hypothetical of all men who abandon their families. Women do it too, btw. Everyone is different, every story is different. You won't find one single answer to fit every individual circilumstance. I hope you are able to make peace with it and know you are not to blame. ❤️
Sean Hayes has always been a favorite of mine. I hope all of his questions are answered and he only grows from the experience.
❤
To be continued please! A tragic story but know, Sean, you are a remarkable person and are so loved. 💕
So glad u r not alone n loved by many Sean
I've always loved you Sean, you're such a talent!! God bless & hope you heal from rhis very difficult story. 🙏❤️
The father wound often has generational consequences.
This next chapter will parallel my own great grandfather's story. They both would have came from Ireland to Chicago around or before the turn of the century. They in turn would have been the children of the generation in Ireland who survived the famine time.
That is difficult information to process. 😢
“It’s easy to sleep on another man’s wound”, an old Irish proverb.
Wierd how much TB impacted many people for so many years until penicillin became readily available. It's very uncommon to have any cases of TB in the US now. In healthcare jobs (in my state atleast), there is a TB-exposure test done before employment and then annually.
And the last time I heard of anyone in my state actually testing positive for tuberculosis was a woman in Tacoma, Washington who refused to 1)get treated for tb, and 2)refused to isolate from others. After many warnings from the health dept., she was briefly put in jail (in medical seclusion cell) and was released after agreeing to follow dr.'s orders and receive treatment for her TB. I understand the treatment is regular sputum tests, and about 1 year of antibiotics without pause. It's not at all like the old days when there were no medications to halt the disease or cure it, all could be done was to send you to a sanitorium for bedrest and lots of sunshine & fresh air. You might recover enough to live, but you would always have tb. And tb isn't just in your lungs, it can spread to your bones.
I would almost bet alcoholism is the main reason behind all of this....
Why would you think it was alcohol is it because he's was Irish don't judge a book by its cover,
@Marion-uc2uq no it is because of the way the person died, the illness they suffered and my experience in the field for over 30 years. I understand this hurts your feelings and I am sorry it did - that was not my intention - however, if you listen carefully to the presentation you will hear the word 'alcohol' used a couple of times. It is a harsh reality. I wish you the best.
@Marion-uc2uqIt was alcoholism and I'm Irish
History is so amazing!!
Interesting. Love to watch this.
I wonder if William had previously been a patient in that hospital, and the fact that his father Patrick's name is listed as NOK is just taken from previous hospital records?
Very sad 😢❤
My grandfather was also an alcoholic. Apparently, he drank instead of ate as well. It seems common that, back then, extreme alcoholics would consume drinks over eating. It makes me wonder what William was going through in his life that he was trying to run away from?
That's still common.
I grew up in Lombard next to Glen Ellyn where Sean grew up..
My cousin and I have been trying to find my 2nd great father parents and siblings. We have not been able to find anything about him.
My maternal great grandfather came home from WW1 but did not return to my his wife and child, my grandmother. My great grandmother had him declared dead and she married someone else. I've always wondered where my great grandfather disappeared to.
Liver, Celtic curse, hemochromatosis could cause this
What’s that?
An illness of the blood that is predominantly present in those with Celtic ancestry. Common in ScottishHighlands and Ireland @@Roz-y2d
@@nakuruhike7991 Thanx👍🏻
Drinking alcohol instead of eating for 4-5 months is much more likely to be the cause.
Maybe he knew he had TB and distanced himself from his family as not to spread it to them. It states his case was far advanced so he possibly displayed symptoms years before he died. HIs illness would have prevented him from working and he was relegated to the slum area. If this is true he saved his children from contacting TB.
My dad left when I was theee and too bad he missed out on the three of us kids.
My great grandfather disappeared they declared him dead in 1920 but never found a body
😮
"Why did Sean Hayes grandfather vanish?"
Come one, add a genitive. This is an official channel, isn't it? You can't make grammar mistakes like that!
I heard a rumor that this channel left out the apostrophe just to spite you specifically and only you. No one else. Just you.
If he served in WWII in N. Africa many came home with TB
Was he alive or dead in the orphanage before he impregnated my grandma? 🙄
