Even if it’s a super shoe, it might be good at $200 but not at $300 which incidentally, seems to be where the shoe market has gone to… everything is hyper inflated. Remember $140 was an expensive shoe, now that’s standard.
I feel like they tossed a deep lug on the Speed and called it a trail shoe. I just ran a trail race in the endorphin speed road. Traction was not the issue. Rolling my ankle on rocks and ruts was. Love the idea of an endorphin speed trail, just lower the profile with a slightly more aggressive footprint.

I took 1st OA with 7th fastest time on record - it ended well. Just had to watch the technical sections. I don’t think Saucony was trying to dupe anyone. I think they were being lazy. If they were trying to extend the endorphin line to trail, they should’ve done it the right way by lowering the stack height slightly.
Great job on your win! Endorphin trail is a very different shoe from the endorphin speed (doesn’t just have a new outsole). It has a completely different upper and no plate in the midsole. The mesh around the midsole also improves responsiveness and compensates for the lack of stability due to the high stack as it keeps the foam from compressing outward as much. Great point about lowering the stack height to help even more with the stability, but to a lot of saucony fans, the stack is part of what makes this shoe an endorphin! You might have better luck with the endorphin trail in your next trail race vs the endorphin speed :).

QD: I would like to see and live the ancient Chen dynasty. So much fascinating Advancements in technology occurred during this time, and this was near the time of the creation of the wall as well I believe. Furthermore, the temples and what not that were built during this are incredible.
My favourite time when I was studying history was the Napoleonic wars. however for ancient period I would love to see China and see how the created some of the greatest architectural marvels in the world. being such a diverse history and having different empires throughout time it would be just fascinating. Noticed you do most of your tests for distance trail shoes on hardpacked gravel terrain. Do you not have much grassy, muddy terrain to test for stability and grip on descents and climbs? Other than that, it is hard to decide as most trail shoes with decent mid sole are mostly the same on dry hardpacked trail.

I will stick with reading and writing History, rather than romanticising it. Still, it would be nice to visit some places before humans destroyed them with bulldozers and chain saws. In relation to the Endorphin Speed Trail, the number 1 criticism is instability on rougher trails.

Yeah they definitely deserve a mention, and their own score on value for money, but it makes it easier to pick shoes when they go on sale. E.g. I would never pay £160 for a training shoe, but I got my Tempo Next%s for £100, and at that price point they are amazing! The problem is the price varies as time goes by
not the "speed" trail man.. i think this might need a rescore in some categories if you're comparing to the endorphin speed and not the entire endorphin lineup (shift,speed, pro,etc..)

I wish Saucony would develop a good trail shoe. I love Saucony but hated the Peregrin.
I highly recommend the switchback 2. It’s very light and minimal but has phenomenal traction and it’s lacing system works very well.
