I'm weird I guess. I use a hard bushing up top and a soft bushing below. It seems like a great combination for me. My trucks turn great even though I keep them tight.
I do the opposite softer bushing on top and hard bushing on thr bottom for most trucks
On my Aces I did 2 hard bushings and no top washer and it turns pretty well
But I have and indy hard on the bottom and an old bones bottom bushing on top
Bro I just set up two boards this week and I modified my bushing just like you said. I did a pair of Indy 159”s with standard stock medium bushing on bottom and hard black bushing on top. Love the feel now improved my pop.
And on a different set up I did my 149”s with hard bottom
Bushings and soft white top bushings. And I rode that yesterday had a great street session.
I’m skating new shoes this week and 2 new boards and new wheels, and new bushings in two sets of trucks. Basically knew everything but the trucks.
I got a pair of new Indy’s in December and I really started skating better with the new bushings. That’s when it clicked I like new bushings more than old ones. But I have a pair of 169s with like 3 yrs old bushings and I can’t change them I’m afraid of changing the feel
FYI it's super important to match the size of the stock bushings (especially the bottom "boardside" bushing) if you want to change them out. Those Doh Dohs are will probably throw the geometry of the trucks off. The bottom bushing in Ace AF1's is 14mm. If you use Bones bushings in Ace trucks for example it would pay to add an extra flat washer underneath the bottom washer to bring things closer to the stock geometry. If you use the wrong size bushings it will put stress on you kingpin and baseplate and you'll risk things breaking.
Need to check this park out!
I rock the Ace hard bushings. I'm 250lbs
The only thing I noticed is when u did the Variel heel it was frontside. I go the other way when I do it I have to try that way.
It is above knee height
Been on the same stock Ace bushings for over 2 years now, I need an upgrade smh
I totally get doubting yourself when you shouldn't. I'm forty and do it to myself sometimes. I'm in rough shape for my age, so I wuss out sometimes and get in my head. Definitely always a worse thing to do
My bushings splash in 1 session I switched from bones mediun hard and hard and last week my 1st session 1 already broke I don't get it
If someone got similar problem with suggestions please help a brother out, It throws me off when 1 of my bushings are broken
What kind of trucks are you riding? I used to only ride bones mediums but now I’m riding the Ace mediums and they seem to be a bit stronger in my opinion.
Im riding Thunder 147 hollow and I have never added the washer @@ArjunShah
My bushings are sad, they look like play-doh in a metal extruder
Front lip looked perfect
Get some new bushings, it helps!
the town missed by not fully utilizing the footprint
Agreed, I’m not even sure if they’re doing the other half anymore :(
