Needle felt art with embroidery embellishment completes this beautiful bird by

It starts with a sketch on fabric with Inktense (a stick of colour by Derwent) which is then brushed with water to make a permanently coloured background. Then wool roving is needle felted on the top with thin layers of roving, yarn and silk tops added to make a picture in wool blended together. I couldn’t stop there, and added a small amount of embroidery. The lustrous silk threads on the bird created a look of iridescence to its wings. Such a lovely way to make some textile art.
