The problem with this nostalgia of the 2018-2020 period is it's unsustainable with our Football Structure Model to maintain throughout a longer period. The intensity burned the players out and the squad wasn't big enough to sustain over a longer period of time. If done properly there would've been allot more PL and CL trophies, but Klopp and our entire Football model asked players to go again and again season after season and we got injuries and ran out of steam. This Club need to learn and do something different than we have the last 7-8 years, because there just wasn't enough transfers in key positions to be more consistent with the big trophies.
This I have been trying to get supporters to see for years, totally unsustainable in the long run or even in 2 season, not 4 where if we played a more tactical game we would have had many more trophies under Klopp!
Without Klopp the player turnover would have been greater. There was ample opportunity to ship Kieta, Ox etc out the door and bring in young money ball players. Klopps biggest strength was his biggest weakness. His system needed higher turnover but he wanted his boys long term.
@@Vtwin_Superbikesthe higher the turnover the more players you have to integrate into your way of playing. Hard enough getting your first team to play the way you want them to play never mind 22 or more.
Absolutely brilliantly argued. Felt that 2021 / 22 was the best version to achieve universal success. Just fell short.
People forget how Slot is not gonna be Klopp. They keep hammering how similar they are, yet they have very different philosophies. I'll name a few with the limited research at my disposal. Firstly, we will have the majority of possession, think of Man City type possession under Pep. Yes, Klopp's team did have possession of the ball majority of time too, but not on the levels of Pep's Man City. Pep's system was borderline boring. Secondly, because of this high % possession base system we will spend the majority of the time in the opponent's half. So there is no need to have pacey wingers/forwards. It certainly helps in counter attacking, for instance a Klopp's team. Not so much in a Pep's team. One thing Slot will implement is the high intensity gegenpressing tho. So in that regard he is very much Klopp.
Let me paint you a picture; Imagine a a Slot system with the ball playing possession system of a Pep Guardiola combined with the high tempo gegenpressing of a Jurgen Klopp's system. Basically, Arne Slot created a system by combining these two dominant systems. Took away the boring aspect of Pep's play style and took in the high pressing high intensity play style of Klopp.
Back to the Kubo transfer. Taking all this into account Kubo in a Slot system would be make perfect sense. He fits in like a glove. He doesn't need to run behind, he could if he wanted to, becuz he's pretty tricky and tekky on the wing. But for reasons stated previously, he is exactly what Slot needs. We'll have majority of possession and be mostly in the opponent's half. Less time and space to run in behind but he's tricky enough to get past two defenders out wide and has great vision for the accurate pass and he can shoot from outside. Yeah Kubo in my eyes is a shoe in.
Very good post 👍🏻
0 ambition at the top.
You just know we won't win another league title for the next 10 years.
If you are Trent, are you staying or going to Real Madrid?
I would prefer Mohammed Kudus, more expensive but PL experience, more output and physically stronger
Tonight, a journalist from the media outlet affiliated with a major Japanese newspaper, which was the first to raise the issue of Kubo from Japan, spoke about Kubo's transfer.
He specifically said that with a fairly high degree of certainty the transfer would happen.
He also said that the chances are around 80%.
In other words, the situation seems to depend on Kubo.
Of course, there are transfer break-ups like Caicedo and Fekir, so we won't know until the end.
Yeah but my gardener said it's not happening 😂😂😂
Kubo transfer is so similar to odegaard lol.
Both wonder kids for Barca/Madrid but careers went a bit quiet and moved to sociedad and move to the prem at 23. This may be an absolute gem
I don’t fancy it tbh, hate the lack of ambition from the club
Odegaard is 10 times the player Kubo ever will be.
@@FSG.OUT. 😴😴
@@robbieomahony5741 we’re not signing anyone until slot looks at the squad anyways, why’s that even a surprise
The assist count is obviously reliant on the chance created being scored. Not seen much at all of Kubo but even his highlights reel shows several very scorable chances created by Kubo which were missed by his team mates.
Last season we conceded and went down 1-0 loads, surely LFC need to address this in the transfer market with more defensive and midfield options. Being 0-0 at 60 minutes was a rarity last season and we have the same players.
That was more of a structural issue. We need to sign players because the squad isn't good enough. But the issue of early goals conceded van be resolved on tge training ground.
@@splinter3600 ambition from anyone in our board room. We might have to go another 25 years till we win the league again
@@kevinborland2090 we have a different manager........
Scouser here. Was in San Sebastián in the late spring and went to Sociedads last home game of the season against atletico. Kubo was the best player on the pitch. Technically brilliant. Close control clever passer high energy. The Coutinho analogy is quite apposite. Only downside is will he replicate such attributes in the PL.And then the physical aspects required to thrive here… but as a natural footballer he was very impressive.
That is interesting. I have not been too impressed by his stats (scoring and assists) or in the vids I have seen, where he looks decent but nothing special. But, if you have seen him play and against decent opponents such as Atletico, then I will happily take on board your judgement. Thank you for that.
What time are you running a 2tb wd black
I'm just happy we are actually looking to sign a player in a position of need 😅Half our fanbase think we don't need any signings and will be gifted 3rd because we are LFC...which is madness of course. We need to be strengthening and bringing in new blood to keep the squad fresh 👍
Am I one of few who think that Liverpools priority has to be their defence this transfer window?
They need a first choice CB and a backup LB in my opinion
We need a centre back to replace Matip and challenge the others and left back for Kostas. We need a midfielder who can defend and play a pass forward.
Didn't Chelsea release Salah because his end product was lacking? If so, then maybe we can turn this lad into the new Salah.
Problem is, we no longer have Klopp
@@robertskillen1887We have Arne. I trust Edwards in his choice of appointing him and Arne seems to have a good record of developing players.
A top four finish would be miraculous with the current squad.
We got third last season with much the same squad.
Kubo looks ok but hardly a Salah replacement & quite expensive too based on his numbers. However, like Josh, I'm not opposed to it as he has a lot of potential.
It’s an odd signing but he does do some things very well. If used correctly he could be excellent. But that will be the challenge. He’s not like a gerrard where you can play him in any position and he’ll be great.
I don't understand the Kubo link for a minute. In the admittedly small amount of footage I watched I really fail to see how he improves on the likes of Elliott or Szoboszlai. If he's an option for an emerging no. 10 we've Gravenberch, Jones, MacAllister, Salah who can all fill in there.
Hard not to think of the Benitez quote: I asked for a table and they brought me a lampshade. This team is crying out for an athletic no. 6.
If he's gonna cost £50m we might as well go for Kudus for £80m.
What kind of reasoning is that? "If he's going to cost 50 million, we might as well throw another 60% at someone else"?. Not only that, we might as well go for Nico Williams. I understand the concerns about wages, but the lad's brilliant. We might as well go a bit higher on wages and bring in someone actually brilliant, surely?
@@Stripe263According to reports, Nico Williams only wants to go to Barca
The same reports said Yoro only wanted Madrid. You can do anything in footy with money
@@Stripe263 Nico Williams isn't coming anywhere near Liverpool.
@@robertskillen1887 probably the same reports telling us Barca don’t have two pennies to rub together 🤷🏻♂️
Great show guys! Hopefully it all clicks
Thanks for the content
I mean, In Edwards We Trust, so I'm not going to make too much fuss about it, but I haven't been over the moon with these rumors just for the same reason that Dan floated - seems like there are a lot of similarities to Diaz in the "lots of energy and movement, little output" vein. He's small, too, though it's not like Mo is a giant and he's worked out ok.
Having listened to Beth in previous sessions, I get the distinct feeling she 'flies kites' often without thinking it through...eg when I listen to Josh I feel his has thought through everything he says or he has spent time on analysis when he makes suggestions. Beth goes out on a limb and it's like lobbing a flagstone into a placid pond as two or three other presenters dive in to contradict her or scale down what she just proposed....Ian Ryan & Neil last week for example .
Underwhelmed by Kubo. Dont spend that much on a grafter. Need some TOP end speed and sharp dribbler, that is what counters the taller full backs that seems to be on-trend, with Arsenal and City;s defensive lineup..
I swear it’s dejavu every summer.. we’re constantly sat here late in the window wishing and hoping the club isn’t stupid enough to go into another season 2/3 short. Sick of it tbh. It’s obvious the common denominator is FSG. Nothing will change until they’re gone. We won’t win regularly until they’re gone.
Would prefer Adeyemi if we're taking a punt on a player with potential, and he's available for closer to 35m apparently.
Plus raw pace
I don’t know much about Kubo but I’ve watched a handful of Dortmund games and I can definitely tell you Adeyemi can’t kick straight. Makes Poonez look clinical
@@FishFighterFred Neither of these players are playing as a nine, Adeyemi is absolutely rapid, right footed and cheap. Also has huge potential, Kubo looks overpriced for his numbers. Are you a Liverpool fan? If so calling Nunez derogatory names is poor.
@@karlallen6055 what does huge potential actually mean? He’s young, yes, but he hasn’t shown any ability to consistently shoot or remain composed in front of goal. Adeyemi is an okay player, no doubt he’ll get national caps for Germany and play in the top flight for the next decade, but from what I’ve seen, he isn’t moving the needle in the most competitive league in the world any time soon. Maybe I’m wrong but we’re allowed opinions. Of course I’m a Liverpool fan, I want us to win everything we can, I don’t see how doubting the qualities of Nunez is not permitted within that fan framework.
On that, Josh has said it a few times over the last couple of months - being a good professional footballer and being a footballer of the calibre to play for a Liverpool team competing for everything in the world are completely different things. Nunez would be the best player for 5+ teams in the PL, Adeyemi could star for many of them too, but we’re not trying to stay up, we’re trying to win titles.
I like him. But if we are willing to pay 60mil for Kubo, theb we should just splash the 85mil for Kudos. Besides, his profile is far too close to Harvey Elliot, and i think Harvey has a higher ceiling.
Also our attack needs a rebuild. Salah is coming to an end, Jota's body can't be relied on and Nunez, Gakpo & Diaz simply arent title winning quality.
I don't know who is worse you or fsg
@@englishlit0171 My comment has nothing to do with FSG. Are you OK? You forget your meds?
They said klopp wasn't title winning quality.
@@redmed10 I don't know who "they" is but didn't remember anyone saying that. Literally no one.
Where's the ambition? We're Liverpool! Please sign a top quality CB and DM. Up the mighty Reds.
If you don’t think we can sign someone from sociedad and their numbers go up then I don’t know what to tell you
remember when sarah joined his output wasn’t exactly great
No just the 42 goals for Salah in his first Liverpool season 🤣🤣🤣
Makes no sense at all the figures being talked about for kubo, he was sold for 6 odd mil by madrid and hasn't 'excelled' at sociedad. For 15mil or so he'd be worth a punt i suppose, but 50mil is absolute insanity
What makes me laugh is people moaning about lack of transfers like Klopp going was going to change things😂 Slot in my opinion took this job because of the prestige of managing Liverpool, he would have said yes no matter what the circumstances. Am sure he knows the situation and knows if he can't get the best out of them like Klopp did that he won't last.
I think its pretty clear Slot was brought in to try and get the best out of the current players, most notably last summers signings.
Its clear as day the club doesnt want to spend more and Hughes hinted at this saying they'll be "opportunistic" in the market. We may make 1 or 2 late but just get ready for pretty much the same team as last season.
You might be right, but arguably the club tried to be opportunistic last season trying to sign Caicedo for +£100m, so I'm not sure Hughes using the term "opportunistic" implies they won't splash out if a player they really want is available.
I suspect the existing players will appreciate Slot and Hughes taking the time to properly assess the squad before deciding to recruit, especially with the likes of Elliot, Gravenberch, Quansah, Bajcetic, Bradley, Doak and others all having huge potential. It's esier to justify making a signing or two after the pre-season tour than before or during it as half the squad is still on holiday.
I'd be pretty pissed off as a player if Slot recruited someone in my position without first giving me a shot at impressing in pre-season. The first people Slot needs to impress and win over - long before the fans - are the players.
Transfers in the post, what could go wrong? Horizon promised next day delivery!!👀👀😮
Liverpool, should sign Kudos.
I want Mane back!, pacey, strong , scores goals and works hard. Or somebody very like him!
We need a goal scoring no 9. Jota is the only good one we have but unfortunately always injured..
He looks like Elliot, maybe a touch quicker, more flamboyant feet but very much that mold
Yeah, a better dribbler and a worse shot. A little quicker but a little more sleight. Very similar though.
Neil doesn't wear shorts? WHAT?? 'Press the botton, you know yer want to...' at the end of every video for ages
Yes this feels ‘a bit Liverpool’ - leftfield but plenty of the right pegs in the right holes and look at that low centre of gravity he is built right. Do the Japanese press given their culture have more integrity and so it’s a serious rumour. BUT We really need to fix leaking that first goal though. Do you read into the new coach and training that it is a long term tactic to minimise injuries and the potential opportunity that is directly proportional to success?
I am sure Man City and Arsenal are trembling with these links 😂
Ageing top stars and half decent youngsters the squad is not looking good, just not looking forward to the up and coming season
Since when did salah play #9 against preston!? He played on the right... carvalho played 9
Top 6 if we are very very lucky.
Tiny, left footed, minimal output. Clearly Slot liked what he saw from Harvey so wanted another one
lolol
Slot likes short passing game. Harvey is the only genuine creative no.10 we have (im not counting Carvalho).Kubo is also more two footed
Its not a great idea to get an African/Asian player to cover an African/Asian player as both - primary and backup players will be away on international duty at the same time
Agreed ❤
Everyone seems to have forgotten that Nunez could be getting a ban from Football and he could be absent at some point
I hope nunes get 1 years ban and after 1 years ban he get injured out for 1 years please. So we can sign striker that does not miss chances
@@liversalah5560 Yep, awful discipline, poor temperament, hot head and no composure when it comes to finishing, snatches at everything. Need to sell him
Liverpool look like they falling behind again
Always they feed us a couple of 'red herrrings'. Maybe a distraction tactic
Guys Harvey Elliott is not good enough for LFC, when he plays its as if weve only got 10 men on the pitch as he just dissappears continually.
I'm a Man Utd Fan, and I am here to tell you that we are winning the league next season.
Liverpool need a long term replacement for salah this summer so this one makes sense. People seem to think slot is going to replicate klopps tactics
if they want a Japanese, get Mitoma!!…. PL proven goal scorer……
lol “if they want a japanese” as if they’re all the same player
😅
You may as well push for Nico Williams if this alleged package is to be believed?
What about Ben Doake? That's his area of the pitch.
David silva never had a strong end product it's not everything
Salah missed 16 big chances last season and he scored the same amount of goals in the league as Nunez did fron open space.
So not sure why you're think should be the target man
Weve tried Salah as a number 9, it doesnt work.
Kubo has played 5 seasons against real Madrid and Barcelona a scored one goal from a stray ball, he is nothing special and well be handing Real Madrid a gift of 50% sell in clause.
We should go after Adyemi, William, Frimpong or proven wingers in the league like Bowen Or Mohammad Kudos.
Kubo has scored what..... 16 in 85, we already have better players than him and you can say oh but he'll have the attack and press of the Liverpool team true but he will also face much better oppositions that he did in la Liga excluding Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona of course.
Kubo wont be bought as a goal scoring forward. He is a very creative outlet
never heared or seen Kubo maybe another Minamino poor mens striker , i would prefer Kudus he was 40mil and LFC didnt signed him wich was a failure, instead LFC under FSG got Costas ,Arthur Melo ,Endo, Gravenberch , Kabak, Philips ........ and so on ....cheap and useless
I just do not rate Kubo.
His stats are just not good enough - career goal scoring rate is a goal every 7/8 games with assist rate even lower (only 13 assists in 5 years); last season his rate was slightly better - goal every 6 games and an assist every 8 games, but still not nearly enough. Nor do I think he looks that great on vids - he looks quite predictable and not that strong, certainly I think Ben Doak or Kaide Gordon are just as good if not better, and they are younger, faster and free. He looks OK but just nothing special. I certainly wouldn't pay 60m for him.
We don’t want another Minamino..
FSG out.
I'm usually calm with transfers but you have to wonder where the preparation is when you reach this point and there's no transfers or key contracts done.
Did you listen to Slot and Richard thingy? Both said nothing was likely to happen until August.
We need to sign more Brazilians; I'm not expert but Brazilians equal wins
Who are even kidding? FSG ain't paying for Kubo
