INSANE MAGICAL BOX OF SOUNDs // SOMA LABS MESSEIVER | THAT SYNTH SHOW EP.140
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 13 окт 2024
- Episode 140 of "That Synth Show" MESSEIVER is an irrational device for exploring the world of primal, wild radio reception - the way it was first experienced by the pioneers of radiocommunication.
MESSEIVER - is a shortwave receiver that is capable of receiving different stations from all around the Earth. Its peculiarity is that it doesn’t have the classic input tuning circuit, which lets you select a single station. Instead, it captures a big part of radio ether as it is. This way you can listen to many radio stations at once from around the globe. The set of stations that you can hear, their loudness and sound are defined by numbers of constantly changing global natural parameters. Weather, solar activity, cosmic particles, clouds and dozens of other phenomena define radio waves propagation, turning the world into a global DJ that makes unique mix of radio stations here and now, exclusively for you

6 min 46 secs you’re now my favourite synth channel on RUclips.
Lol cheers 🍻 brother 🌎 🤔 🍳
I would think more musicians would be open to it, perhaps it's just a matter of time 😊
Is it capturing old transmissions that are bouncing around?
Because that would be cool.
Yea would be insanely awesome
Reminds me of using my Dad's old Telefunken SW(Short Wave) radio system ... was fun skipping through the different frequency and picking up all the foreign channels
In the US our shortwave propagation is often very limited. It's a beautiful piece and great video!
Cheers man i like but feel its above my pay grade 😂 so curious though
Every user hears what they want to hear. I do this stuff already with the golden teacher and an aluminium antennae hat!
Hahah
7:17 "If I had a photograph of you ... or something to remind me."
I don’t like this.
I already have bugs in my heads.
I’m all set.
$700.00
I’d rather buya synthesizer
😂
You and I are really on the same page about things my brother!!! Must be because we're the old farts in the community!! :)
Totally agree with you and Uncle Jerry. We grew up with AM radio where this was a common occurrence 😂😂😂
@@Spaceman8.1x or just a 13" Black and White TV with 3 channels and the rest being static!!!HAHAHAHA!!! Andsome will remember all TV broadcasting ended at midnight or something.... Yeah I'll pass on this HAHAHAH!
@@unclejerrysworld Absolutely! We had a zenith 14" black and white TV with 3 channels and PBS if you were lucky LOL
Them sunglasses are ACE! 😎 Only problem with it is I think there’re going to faze out radio 📻 stations how long will it take Idk 🤷♂
seriously though.....it's a radio without filtering.
📻
@@synthsamuraiproductions I do gotta tell ya though. All the synths coming out now that are so similar, I have been confused what to get. So, I decided on something that looks very special. I have remotely fallen in love with the solar 42F. Yesterday, I preordered, now I have to wait till January for my shipment...lol. Talk about killing the GAS, it's expensive.
@stevefpv7249 dude…. Im in love with the solar 42f… i think its insanely special
That's why I want it, I'm a radio guy and I do FM DX to see how far away I can pick up stations and this thing will be a game changer
Soma so good.
If you like this I’d recommend Lou Reed’s
album, Metal Machine.
Ill check it out
WOW.This reminds me of my parents Grundig floor console radio phonograph with short wave from the seventies. I used to play around with the short wave at night when signals were better. Sometimes multiple signals could be received at the same time, mostly from European stations. The Messeiver would fit in with my experimental music for sure!
Nice man. Def a cool addition check
Out the manual on the site
I thought they were going to incorporate a way to modulate the signal/add effects, etc. While this may not be for me, I think Soma Labs is the most interesting and innovative synth company that exists right now. I love all of their wacky ideas and products. They are actually doing something different.
Very very cool and that idea would be cool
Too
lovely arty design, retro-futuristic , the idea of receiving all the frequencies of the univers is pretty awesom. I have an old vintage cheap tube (valve) radio and it can do sort of the same, when you go the amplitude modulations you have many things going at the same time like in this demo.... I'd love it just for de design but I have the feeling that I would paie a lot for what seems to be just a radio receiver . (my lovely wooden valve radio was 50.- it's pretty mysterious too, including the old vintage components and lighted valves in that wooden retro-futuristic box .
Yeah cool thing seems to be it gathers all stations at once..
This thing is awesome I’ll be picking it up day one. ☝️
Go website and read manual its pretty wild man
Im not getting it. A bunch of stations playing at once with a bunch of static AND not good for big Cities (most likely because of major antennas). I can put youtube on and hear that.
Hahaha that kinda true 😂
Homework: get the Red MPC and sample different radio stations of your choice. Combine and then add effects
Hmmmm 🤔
There are some songs on Bandcamp that are just that. Mexican radio station announcements mixed with synthpop
This is awesome!
Subbed
Appreciate the sub!! Pumped u enjoyed the show
I really don't want to counteract anticipation but have I missed something or is that really just a mono radio wthout memory & without line outs at a price tag of 560'-?
Anything is better than a demon box that's clearly true but I guess with old medium-wave radios or broken boom boxes with a still working receiver one can probably attain more exciting results incomparably cheaper if not for free.
It captures all
Radio stations all
At once i guess. Read the manual on website its pretty interesting
@@Gerald_Daniel it does have a line out on the back.
@@synthsamuraiproductions I hope so. Otherwise one never could justify the high price.
Soma does weird like nobody's busyness.
Big time
👀
Crystal radio maybe
Just need the crystal skull to match 📻 💀
@@synthsamuraiproductions I reckon its 3dq with a switch for regeneration
Man I wanted to like this thing and started filling out the form, but then the GAS god whispered to me and told me I wasn’t going to hear all those cool foreign languages like they do in Europe. So I’m going to let someone in the US buy it and see what it picks up.
Yeah me too man. I want the japanese zen cold play gospal overlap 😂
Damn, just read the manual and it says it doesn’t work well in large cities. Being in NYC I guess I’ll have to pass. Looks awesome though.
😂 u got a cabin?
@@synthsamuraiproductions no money for that I waste all my money on synths 🕺
@McEnroe911 😂 second thoughts im out too
@6:44 *my man! that's wuzup!* 😎
😎
anyone who thinks this is a waste is a douche. im considering this ...
Brother this we agree. Its special
I think. Check out the manual on the site very cool
I'm gonna be real honest, I wouldn't buy this is if I was Rich Kielbasa and he's a HAM radio guy big time.... I don't even think Richie Boy would buy it because it will most definitely fall between his keyboard stands!! :)
Hahahhahahah
This is nothing new to be honest.
There are some companies out there that do this kind of "Radio as Audio Source" (plus some synthesis type and fx) in a small box. And you have VSTs that do the same.
The difference is SOMA pretends is something new and artsy-fartsy so you spend big bucks. SOMA is also coming out with an horizontal Theremin 💲💲💲
Is anything really new??
@@synthsamuraiproductions not really. But there's a question of intelectual honesty I'd like to see Companies employ in their ads
@jumpingman8160 😂 not gonna happen
I still kinda love it man
@@synthsamuraiproductions cheaper out there
Get a radio. Turn the dial…
Maybe I can get a raspberry PI and program it to automatically keep turning the dial left right right left left right so the stations keep changing and then I can just record that
@@synthsamuraiproductions you could. Or use a windscreen wiper motor and an elastic band to adjust the tuning knob!
@tubthump also good idea 😂
Russian MK Ultra signals, direct into your studio / ears … lol. I’ll pass …
Hahahha
