  • Here's a couple of tips and things I didn't mention in the video.
    1.When you make the wooden panel you should file or cut around the top edges of it so it fits flatter with the steel ring. Don't worry if it looks ugly because the ring will cover it all up.
    2.Wire brushing will leave a lustrous shine so if you don't want that do it by hand.
    3.When counter sinking your screws make sure to not go to far down or you will make the steel to thin and the screw will pop out.
    4.Don't tighten the top screws too much. They aren't load bearing and just need to keep the ring in place.
    Cut list:
    Frame(1.5" square tubing):
    8 pieces- 23"
    4 pieces- 36"
    Top ring (1" angle steel)
    4 pieces- 30"

    Good work. But I really worry about your lack of PPE (no gloves, no jacket or long sleeve coverage etc). Plus the fact that you’re welding on OSB (very flammable) and even continued to weld with a puddle at your feet. Please be more careful.

    May I ask what you used to treat the steel to keep the industrial look? I want to make one but don’t want to paint it and also don’t want all my grinding corners to rust etc. Thanks

      You can just use a satin clear coat. It'll protect it and it wont make it look super shiny. This was made for a teacher and he asked me not to clear coat it since it would be in his dry classroom anyways but I normally just use a rustoleum clear coat

      @@FlamingRayz oh cool thanks. Oh saw another builder use a semi-transparent stain for metal from sculpt nouveau. I may test that out (then seal it of course).

    Cool table. But your welds are dirty. Too much splatter. Not sure if you welding galvanized material or if you don’t have enough argon

      If you had looked at his tip, you would see that he is using flux core hence the splatter. Anti splatter spray would have taken care of that splatter.

      I did use some for some parts but they are small and cheap so I figured the big square would be more accurate

    looks really good, your really smart, the screws look a bit ugly, i wonder what could be done to hide it?

      Thanks! You could make the screws look nicer by using a centering drill bit like the ones for door hinges when you pre drill, or you could use some kind of adhesive and just hold it down while it dries.
