It’s good to have great friends in the business world and Josh Landress has always been there for ACB since we have opened our doors. He’s a trusted friend, someone I can bounce ideas off of, an amazing businessman, and incredible craftsman!
I have asked him for years (maybe a decade) to make me one of his custom trumpets… I first played one at the 2011 NAMM show (I think that was the year… I’m lucky to remember what I had for breakfast most days lately!) and was simply blown away by the ease of playing and incredible centering.
Fast forward a few years to the current 2020 pandemic and I twisted his arm to convince him to try to make a few more new instruments. I supplied him with these amazing Adams valve blocks these are from the A5 trumpet which I think is the best valve block Adams makes. Every other part of this trumpet was completely handmade by Josh.
I think this is quite possibly the easiest trumpet I have ever played. Smooth, rich, brilliant, fluid… it really has everything one could hope for!
My particular one has a lightweight bronze bell and also a bronze leadpipe. I think that really helps the overall performance and sound color palette which is immense!
There’s still a few of these trumpets available so you should definitely reach out to Josh and his amazing team at J Landress brass:

Another quick shoutout to my brother Michael Barkley… all the trumpet clips on this video are 100% raw and un-edited. I am using (literally for the first time on any video) his Infinity G2 Microphone and it’s fantastic. I think we’ll be selling these soon but in the meantime order one today at:

Y’all know my house rule for my personal collection… one horn in/ one horn out! So I have listed a bunch of amazing instruments for sale

You sound great, and the most amazing trumpet I've heard you demo. Wow! I thought during the video I could listen to you noodle on that for the entire day. Amazing!

Recently had the pleasure to try out one of their small bore trombones. OMG, that thing sang like a bird!

I'm glad he tried different mouthpieces and revealed the makes. A good quality mouthpiece is essential to getting the best out of your horn. If you are going to drop thousands on a pro quality horn also get a pro quality mouthpiece to go with it.

This trumpet seems easy to play. At the risk of insulting you, the things you played on this trumpet appeared so easy that it seems like anyone could play the same things with ease. Did this trumpet play that easy for you? The first mouthpiece also seemed to play everything the other two did easier than the other two. Did that mouthpiece on this trumpet feel that way to you? As a non-brass player who is occasionally forced to play trumpet, this video gave me the false hope that I would have a shot at sounding good on trumpet. This trumpet in this video seemed that easy to play. Does it feel lile that to you? I have heard you sound amazing on these videos with other instruments, but I would be hard pressed to find a video here that you sounded better on than this video. Yes, I mean that as a compliment. I know you bring a lot of ability to the instruments, but this one just seems so very easy. I am shocked. I hope I have not offended you here. You, along with this trumpet, just made everything seem so easy. Congratulations on this horn. This is a great fit for you. You deserve it.

That's the reason for the title! It's a superb trumpet. But of course trumpets don't play themselves ;-)

@@austincustom This one almost appeared to play itself. The video is shocking at how easy to play this trumpet looked.
