    Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video! You helped a friend 3 years later with the same problem. The fuse is there as an overheat Safety device in the event of a fault. They are readily available, Cheap and easily replaced. What you've done and shown others to do is Dangerous. People wonder why the repair industry has a bad reputation, all they have to do is watch videos like this to understand why. Absolutely disgusting.

      For no reason you are just cretisizing. Such behavior isn't good. Look at your channel. You haven't uploaded a single second video clip. Even not a stollen video! If you aren't able to give single word of knowledge, why do you try to stop 🛑 others from doing so? You are just trolling and trying to hammer ⚒️ others with your bullsit knowledge and attitude. People like you don't do anything and they try to keep others also ignorant of education and knowledge. With such behavior and attitude you don't watch other people videos or minimum don't comment is such bad way.

      @@JahanZeb1976 Going on this video, the knowledge that your supposedly imparting to people is DANGEROUS. If your going to continue giving people your so called knowledge, at least tell them the correct way to do a repair and not by doing bodge jobs and bypassing safety devices. I wasn't criticising for no reason but for the simple reason that what you were showing is bad practice and as I've already said: DANGEROUS, if your supposedly an Engineer then you should know better. Not giving people as you put it Knowledge is a lot better than giving them bad knowledge as your doing. If your so confident in the validity and safety of the "knowledge" that your dispensing to the as you have called them ignorant, why when someone makes a valid criticism of what your doing do you become excessively defensive, crude and abusive ?. Could it possibly be that you yourself are actually the ignorant one and not your subscribers ?. Please don't bother to answer that, it was a rhetorical question to which I'm pretty sure I already have the answer.

      I was a tech and this guys setting you up for failure!
      The original comment about it being a thermal fuse is correct.
      That red wire is right up against a hot plate that can eventually burn through to an *unshielded* AC wire.
      That is why it's there.
      Anyone who has worked with something that pulls that many amps without resistance would tell you to *replace the fuse* or expect your home to burn to the ground when you use it.
      I bet this guy likes to play Russian roulette with himself.

    You know that those thermal fuses blow for a reason? And in terms of safety you should replace one with same characteristics, not just use a wire fix? Then again, it is your house...if the sandwich grill ever catches fire...

      Somewhere such manufacturers put certain fuses to run their and service center business. If safety was a concern, fuse could be placed in cord plug too. So such fuses replacement with a piece of wire is a smart idea. Regards, 🙌

    Lol.. Not to criticize your work, but the thermal fuse is there to avoid burning down your house, and soldering in areas with that much heat is at best risky. It will get brittle over time. Still, the wire you use to replace the fuse is so thin it probably will do as a kind of safety device anyways.. Good luck!

    • @JahanZeb1976
      @JahanZeb1976  7 лет назад

      You are right in all aspect and you admitted that what I did is even right using a thin wire as fuse. The fuse consists of actually a thin wire thinner than your wiring. So it may blow in case of a short circuit. Stay tuned.

      beernutsonline after reading the burn your house down comment I realized since I don't know a single thing about wiring etc I should just...idk...save money to get a new George foreman grill.it was working fine few days ago then I heard some static sounds coming from the low medium and high setting as I turned it and the red light flickered.it worked two more times after that then stopped working completely.

    • @ayatti26
      @ayatti26 4 года назад +1

      Yes the thermal fuse rating of 240 degrees means that the fuse will blow if the temperature exceeds 240 degrees. Without the fuse the heating elements would get hotter and hotter and hotter without anything to trigger a shutdown. Those fuses are less than $1 a piece.

    Good :-D that didnt take you too long to recover it :-D.
    That device looks like it has been through a war lol, hopefully the owner will give it a scrub with antibacterial spray and plastic scrubber, food needs to be made in clean conditions, would be bad if it made someone ill :-( :-(.
    The two strands you used for the fuse didnt look thick enough, they may burn out later.
    You could have bypassed that fuse anyway, the plug would have had a fuse in it :-D.
    The earth is important if the heating element becomes shorted to the metal, it provides a protection, better to blow a fuse than hurt a human :-).

    • @rscelectrical7091
      @rscelectrical7091 3 года назад

      No it's not a smart and creative thing he did, it's irresponsible and dangerous. The part he removed and bypassed is a thermal safety fuse and is designed to go open circuit to prevent overheating and possibly the appliance melting / catching fire, manufacturers don't just fit them for fun. Thermal safety fuses are readily available and quite cheap / simple to replace, they should not be soldered in place but crimped into the circuit with the brass terminals that are made for the purpose to ensure the continued safety of the appliance.

    • @thisname1is1sukzable
      @thisname1is1sukzable 3 года назад

      @@rscelectrical7091 yes, that's why he put a few small wires in there so it would still burn out. those wires will still be a whole lot thinner than whatever wire is used in the rest of the house. i though that was ingenious. the thing won't overheat and catch fire because it has a built in thermometer so it switches of. that's what the 2 lights indicate. red for i'm warming, green for saying it's at operating temperature. but you are correct that the proper way wouldn't have been much more expensive.
      thanks for answering my question about the solder though!

    • @rscelectrical7091
      @rscelectrical7091 3 года назад

      @@thisname1is1sukzable Unfortunately the wires used probably won't burn out before it overheats and causes irreparable damage, that's why thermal fuses are chosen rather than just standard gauge wire. A thermal fuse will open at a reasonably specific temperature and cut power before the element overheats too much, the wire used is not temperature sensitive so will continue passing current even though the appliance is overheating. The thermal control on the appliance is there to turn power to the element on / off to control the heating of the element. However these can and do fail, very often with welded contacts. A control with welded contacts can't regulate power to the element so it continues to heat up, this is when you find out why the manufacturer went to the expense of installing a thermal fuse rather than just using a straight piece of wire. Believe me: Anyone who tells you that the manufacturer puts the fuse there for the sake of it or just so they can make more money, hasn't got a clue what they're talking about.

      @@thisname1is1sukzable Hi Chris: Your welcome mate, apologies if it seemed a bit snappy & long winded but people bypassing safety devices is a bit of a Red rag for me. After over 40 years in the industry and having seen the results many times, I tend to get a bit bent out of shape when I come across it. Your dead right: Solder should never be used in this situation always crimps, they're readily available and cost peanuts.

      It seems there is a short circuit somewhere in your machine. It could be in its cable, power plug or inside the machine. You can easily diagnose it and can repair it if you understand a little. You may watch my video again once or twice and try to follow the diagnostic steps to understand the fault location. Once you troubleshoot and diagnose it, the repair would be very simple. Best regards,
