this album is definitely not for everyone but it is a HUGE part of queer history the whole album is about sophies journey through being trans and her artistic insight on emotions and existing. As a queer person i enjoyed the respect yall gave even on the tracks you didnt enjoy

SOPHIE had the potential to create commercial songs that reached the top of the charts, but she always preferred to give priority to her real feelings, things that most artists don't do because they are afraid
I think Sophie wanted to stay off the beaten path in her music. I can't imagine what her career would have looked like had she lived even just another decade. I think she was still some what struggling to find her artistic identity

I think people who don't enjoy vulnerable and imperfect vocals are obsessed with perfection and adhear to the regular pop formula. This is experimental pop at the very least and isn't for everyone. I'm glad this genre isn't going mainstream anytime soon because of this obsession. It ruined Lizzo for me and so it warms my heart that not everyone loves this. FUBU = for us, by us.

Sophie made art, not music. Same way some art will make you uncomfortable or you don’t enjoy it but it has meaning. It wasn’t made “messy” it was made intentionally to make you feel that. She doesn’t make music, she is an artist. She’s done production for many of the songs you probably enjoy a lot.
she made music, all music is art. art is this not this higher being of media, its not better than anything that isn't art, its not smarter. its just music, and that's ok.

i’m sorry for not expressing my reasoning behind it more, and i know that SOPHIE is a big name in the lgbtqia space. So if I didn’t give enough respect i do apologise! I was not expecting that sound and I was already run down so it was not the best day to film that particular reaction I guess. Her music just isn’t for me (sound wise), but I can appreciate who she was in this space and her influence over so many. Apologies again for wasting your time and not living up to the expectations as a queer gal, but nevertheless I can’t change my opinion ❤️❤️ all love.

But if you get curious, try listening to Kick III (her best album imo) or Kick I (a bit more accessible than her other albums but still very experimental)

What I love about this album is that it’s not just bangers, it’s not just melodic, it’s also discomfiting and tear provoking, overwhelming and joyous. It’s a true emotive and affective work
Damn its unfortunate yall didn't seem to vibe with it :/ . I think people recommended after Caroline and Ethel cain cause they have the pc music / hyperpop sounds. Especially more so Caroline! She has known and colabed with many if the artists in the community, they are very queer friendly!
I will say Sophie definitely is a person music you enjoy after listening to other artists within the genre. She was so talented and set the ground work for alot of things we have in modern pop emerging right now

I didn't understand this album when I first listened to it. A year later I love most of the songs now! Still don't fully understand every Sophie song but the hyperpop/heavy ones are so cool and she has nice ambient stuff too

I'm part of the LGBT and I also think this album isn't the best musically, but I think it has nice messages about Sophie's life, Trans rights, etc.
I think she made much better songs than this album. (The song before last one though, I think I liked it, but that's just me, I really like and am obsessed with EDM, especially House, everyone has different tastes.)
