Speedhacking Geometry Dash to Speedrun It Faster

So, here is a fun idea I came up with, recorded and edited all in the same day pretty much. Since none of my planned videos once more are ready and it has been 2 months since I uploaded anything, here we go with this video here. I hopefully explain everything in the video but in case I don't, the idea behind this is that we are setting out to beat all 21 main levels of Geometry Dash as quickly as possible but I am allowed to choose whatever speed I want for the game to beat these levels legitimately. I cannot change the speed midway through, I have to pick one speed and stick with it. If I wanna switch, I have to wait until I am already dead. It is a fun risk and reward system across the entire run. The quicker you speed the game up, the more potential you have for saving the time. But the quicker the game gets, the harder it is to not die and lose time.
I am by no means trying to say this is an official record. It is a unique speedrunning category but I haven't fully laid out all the rules for what you can and cannot do so whether people want to make this into a legitimate record is up to you all. This was just for fun.
If you want the rules that I arranged personally:
Pick the speed you wish to beat the level at the very start of an attempt, that speed cannot be changed during the attempt until you beat the level or a new attempt starts after dying.
Coins aren't mandatory, just go for whatever path you are more comfortable with. Collecting all the coins can be a category of its own.
The Challenge doesn't count since it requires playing a few custom levels which aren't part of the main game.

Hello again Stormfly! As a member/lurker in the GD speedrunning community for quite a while now, I'd like to say: thanks for posting a video related to GD speedruns on a channel as large as yours! (even though the addition of a speedhack% category has been constantly asked for and denied lol).
If you enjoyed this challenge, then I'd highly recommend attempting a Geometry Dash MSC run :)
MSC (Manual Speed Change) is a category that a good friend of mine has created in which a player installs "a simple python script that allows you to manually change how fast the icon moves in Geometry Dash mid-attempt." You can set hotkeys for each of the 5 speeds (0.5x-4x) and the goal is to beat a level as fast as possible!
For example, you could change to 4x during a ship section, then back to 1x for a cube section or maybe even higher if it's possible. You can find a download link for it by finding the Geometry Dash MSC playlist and seeing the first video (or watching a few more to get a grasp of how a run might work)

I guess the only reason I can think speedhack% wouldn’t be allowed is due to needing to pay for external hacks in order to do it, but I think it also provides a lot more depth to the category other than just fast menuing
@@redberriescereal8465 Plenty of free hacks have speedhack. Hell, you could even use CheatEngine like people did in 1.9

this is an awesome way to make GD speedrunning way more fun, instead of saving frames in the menu and beating everything first try, you actually risk the run at any moment by choosing a harder speed to save time, love the idea, i'd be fun to see more people try it!

Stormfly have you heard of an old demon called dance to the violins the first preview was posted by dollarc and I think was made by funnygame but now I can’t find any trace of the level
maybe it's dance *of* the violins, not dance to the violins?
@@NotBest713 it was a long time ago but I that the level name did have “to” in it cuz I think it had a different name than to the song name which the song is dance of the violins

Hello, i'm a player on an ipad without an account with 16,000 stars earned playing GD for maybe 4 years (in this period of time i've beaten a total of 407 demons); and i'm scared to lose them all with the 2.2 update. Is it possible i will lose them without an account or i have to do it? Also, im scared to do the account because i dont know if my stats are gonna be deleted or not, so i want to know if is it possible to do an account with already many stats earned and save those that i already have. I hope a mod or Stormfly will answer me.
You keep your stats when you make an account, just make sure to save them every so often

Fun fact, this level formerly took the most attempts I have ever spent on beating a level back in 2019, with Supersonic recently going over that slightly.

Attempts on Deadlocked: 1805
Attempts on Clubstep: *5 3 3 0*
Supersonic took me 20147 attempts lmao

i think a speed run in gd has a lot 9f mental strength in it, you cant lose focus for even a second even if you fail it will only spiral into worse and worse results. its pretty insteresting to see speed runs in gd like this
yesterday i accidentally did this too when i set my phone's refresh rate to 120 and GD just confused itself and started running at 2x speed

Great video, interestingly I actually had exactly the same idea a few months ago and did a decent amount of practice and after some attempts I managed to get a time of 21:02 (video is on my channel). I think this type of speedrunning has a lot of potential for this game and I hope this video can bring some attention to it. A faster time than mine is definitely very easily possible though if a better player put some time into it.
