- On this ride, I cycle from Exeter along the Teign Valley to the Beautiful Town of Bovey Tracey. Along the way, I give an update as to what is happening to the hit and run case the I reported to the Police. I also ask viewers if they have any suggestions of mud guards (Fenders) for the Creo.
My observations are the subject of this ride. So come along and enjoy another great cycling adventure.

Try the SKS Speedrockers - designed for gravel bikes, they give about 80-90% coverage so a little less then your current ones and are held on by velcro and rubber ties so easy to put on/take off. I've used them for over 4 years on Dartmoor lanes and they don't rattle. Plus easy to dislodge leaves or muck that might get caught up as the fastenings are rubber and have a stretch to them. I was going to originally use them just for winter but now leave them on all year thanks to our lovely climate!
Hey Billy, I have just had a look at those SKS speedrockers and they look great, they will also solve my issue with my fork restriction with gravel tyres fitted. Definitely a front runner so far and thanks for the recommendation. Take care buddy, thanks for watching and happy riding. 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
I also use the Speedrockers all year round, and have not noticed any rattling.
I’ve got the Speedrockers on my e-gravel bike and I’ve had them on all through the year. Easy to take off should you need to.
I put frame protection film on the bike where the contact points are just to stop any grit rubbing my pain away
@ a number of people have also recommended the SKS Speedrockers so Cheers buddy, they must be good. Thanks for watching and take care 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
Glad to see your hit and run case is moving forward. I am struck by these narrow roads in the British countryside. Being from the states we have such wide roads and often with a wide bicycle path on either side. I watch your video as you round a corner to be staring at an oncoming vehicle... YIKES!
Hey Dean I hope you’re well buddy. Cycling the British Country lanes is really nice, but things can get interesting very quickly. Especially when you’re tanking it on a decent and you meet a car or worse still a farmer’s tractor and you have to be pin point accurate flying past 😂 I have seen some cycle lanes and the infrastructure built in the States on RUclips and I am very impressed, they are a lot different than here. Take care and thanks for watching. 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
Yep…. It making cycling round the UK lanes so much FUN!! …… a surprise round every corner, and us UK cyclists also love the sound of a fast approaching car speeding up behind us as we see a car also coming towards us,we know we are just about to experience the exhilarating experience of a “close pass”
@@andyfishwick Very true Andy 👍🏻🚴🏻
Great ride Dave looks great.i only youse an ass saver witch I love keeps my but dry witch is great I can’t do mudguards 🤞🏻mate he gets hit hard .we all love going out for a ride best thing ever to see the countryside and take in all the sessions and weather we never no .Thant’s the fun part of getting out 🚴take mate stay safe keep pushing the miles
Hey Jonathan, I hope you’re having a great day. I have a love hate with mudguards but as I ride through winter they are a necessity for me to help protect the bike from the road salts. 😒 I’m finding it hard to get a full length set that would work with my road and gravel tyres and fit between my forks. 😂 Take Care and Thanks for Watching. 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
sks mudguards are good.the cops will sort that lunitic out once they have video footage.stay safe another great video.
Hey Anthony, I’ve heard great things about the SKS range of mudguards it’s just choosing the best one for me, because they have so many options. 😃 it’s sad that some motorists don’t see cyclists as a person, and don’t care or understand that we get injured very easily when they drive their cars into us. Hopefully he will learn from this experience. Take care and thank you for watching. 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
I am so glad to hear that the police are dealing with the RTC. Your camera's paid for themselves in one incident. Good riding. Best regards Sarah
Hey Sarah I hope you’re well. Sadly having cycle cams is becoming a must have nowadays. I think we have all noticed that driving standards have changed since lockdown. Sadly there were witnesses to my collision, but none of them come forward, and that’s why recording my cycling is vital for evidence. And it would be justice if his insurance ends up covering the cost. 😂 Take care, stay safe and thanks for watching. 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
Well done regarding your legal issue with the bully driver.
My fellow group and I have had similar situations
Hi Mike, thankfully most motorists are perfectly happy to share the public roads. Unfortunately we cyclists do come across an idiot sometimes and I will not tolerate their behaviour. I will always report bad drivers and hopefully that message will spread to other motorists. Take care out there and thank you for watching. 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
Good the Police case is progressing, do you still have/use the passing pixie?. Lovely scenery in the valley with the river and trees. The horse is fine just resting its leg. Our railway station has those secure secure parking boxes but not enough off them as several bikes get stolen everyday from normal racks. It must be strange living in that corner house at 9:10 in.
Hey Martin, yes I’m still wearing the pass pixie sign on my back, in fact it’s worn for all my rides, I even told the driver that i had a collision with, I was filming, but he really didn’t care. I was really impressed with those safe secure cycle storage boxes I think they should be everywhere. I would like to see them installed in some of the empty shops in city centres, can you imagine. I just had a look at the house you mentioned, it must annoying what at night with cars headlights on full beam lighting up the living room. 😂😂 Take care and thanks for watching. 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
Thanks Harv, as always, enjoying your content. I'm running Spec. Turbo Pro 30's on my road wheels, with regular tubes. They're very comfy and seem to hold up well. I have TPU tubes in my seat pack, for the next time I flat. Curious to see how you like them.
Hope your case proceeds quickly and he gets his just reward!
For your fenders, someone suggested trying silicon sealant on all contact points, which I think is a great idea. I use SKS Race Blades when needed, but I also did just get a Win Wing (haven't installed it yet).
Cheers!
Hey Michelle, I’ve heard great things about the SKS range of mudguards, it’s just choosing the right one for the Creo and me. Putting a dab of silicone on the joints has been recommended or using rubber washers should help with that very annoying rattle I’m having. 😂 I’m looking forward to installing the tpu tubes, and hopefully feel the difference. I just need my hand to heal a little more first, because I can’t change the tyres. 🙄 Take care and thanks again for watching. 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
Good little tip re using a torch inside the tyre 👍
Hey Paul, you could surprised at the size of some of the holes the torch shines through 😂😂 it was just bad luck that I had a puncture because of an existing hole. 🙄 Take care buddy and thanks for watching. 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
SKS Bluemil on my Giant Road epro, put rubber washers where the stays fit will eliminate most of the noise
Hey Kieran, I do like SKS, and there range of mudguards is extensive which makes it harder to choose, 😂 I will definitely look at your recommendation and thanks for the washer tip. Take care and thanks for watching. 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
I forgot to mention, get yourself a tube of silicon sealant (as you would use to waterproof arouind a bath). Put a bead of that on all the fender connections then do them up, it acts like threadlock but also can be undone if needed. It also gives a bit of mechanical shock absorbtion. S
Hi Sarah that’s a great tip thank you. 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
I won't even entertain 3/4-full mudguards unless they have 2 stays on each side. I've always had more luck with the type aimed at commuters and less so with the performance type. You can always remove the flaps/extenders or even shorten them slightly for "the performance look" if you are that way inclined. SKS and M Part are good, personally I prefer Flinger. Stuffing/sticking a bit of cheap foam bar tape as dampening material between the fork crown and the guard and anywhere the blades come close to the frame at the rear can help. Also check how close the chain (and FD cage for those that have one) comes to the rear blade when in lowers gears, manufactures are really pushing the clearance around those areas these days thanks to wider tyre clearance, if it's closer than 10mm there's a pretty good chance it's contacting, and it's time to dig out the Dremel 🤣. But you will never get them silent, especially with how tight things are on modern bikes.
TPU's are great on the road, the difference is very noticeable you have to be very careful installing them though they won't tolerate rough handling like butyl do, and yet they seem to be more puncture resistant once you're rolling.
Hey Chris, thank you for your tips and recommendations regarding mudguards, I found that very interesting. I have heard great things about the SKS range, but choosing the right ones for my mix of tyre sizes and the Creo is challenging. 😂 I’m looking forward to installing and testing the tpu tubes, and they are also a great space saver in the saddle bag, hopefully a win win. Take care, happy riding and thanks for watching. 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
I have the same Creo I use tubeless setup with 7000 miles on the bike I had 2 flats and those flats were 1/2 inch cuts in the tire so I replaced the tire. I could of patched the tire but the cost high at the bike shop.
Hey Tim, I personally haven’t had much luck when using tubeless road tyres. I do however recommend going tubeless with MTB and gravel tyres, which have always worked great for me. I’m looking forward to trying TPU tubes for the first time, I’ve heard they make handling better and lower rolling resistance, and greater puncture protection, but time will tell. Thanks for watching and happy riding. 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
Glad it’s getting sorted. I know you hope that the guy will think twice next time, but probably trying to wrangle out of it and some are too stupid to learn, 🤞 they do learn. TPU’s should feel a lot faster in my experience, not sure on Tubeless feel, as I’ve only done tubeless on gravel bike. Take care Harv👌
Hey James I hope you’re well buddy. Unfortunately for the driver that caused my collision, he has picked on the wrong cyclist. 😂 I’m looking forward to installing my TPU tubes, but I have to wait a little longer until my hand is healed, because I can’t remove the bloody tyres 🙄. Take care and thanks again for watching, stay safe. 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
@ hope you’re feeling better soon mate👍😊
🥰🥰🥰🥰
Im interested in your average speed while riding your Creo ? i bought a gravel version Creo with the carbon frame after i was diagnosed with a heart complaint, i find i can match my average speed on my cannondale synapse road bike with the creo apart from a hilly route were the motor helps ,i very rarely use the sport and Turbo settings on my 20 / 25 mile rides now that i avoid hills or really steep hills because of my condition
Hey Tom, sorry to hear about your health issues buddy it can’t be easy. I’m averaging on the Creo about the same as I was on my Giant defy, 18/20 mph. So obviously being a heavy bike I’m getting a great workout, as I’m above the motor assistance level. I generally stay in eco mode for my outward journey and only use sport or turbo on the return trip just to flatten the Devon hills, for a speedy return. Take care of yourself and thanks for watching 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
👍👍👍👍
Thanks for watching Scotty, take care. 🙏🏻⚡️🚴🏻
