If anyone finds it interesting, these are some of the chemicals and bottles that were in the laboratory: Potassium Iodide: Used to treat radiation effects, as dietary supplement, in film photography and other industrial uses. Immersion Oil Type NVH: Used in optical microscopes. Leco Calibration Sample: Compound used in many Industrial/Lab equipment and machinery. General Electric Red Ink: For a lab recorder (those machines that print out something similar to an ECG). Not biohazard material really, still poisonous if ingested though. Cool video btw.
4:06 is the mask for an Arc Flash suit, which is required for protection when working with large amounts of electricity, without it the heat from an Arc Flash is capable of melting the skin off your face instantly.
Molly Butler i keep repeating it so many times n now I'm having a goosebumps. I've asked Josh about this on Snapchat, hopefully he'll reply. I'm so curious 😯😯
Drake vlogs The biggest button would be the intercom to the personal assistant, which is next to the smallest button being the facility's self destruct module.
What I like about your channel is you prepare for your expeditions, you do your research on the areas your visiting, and your not an idiot so you act more responsable and respecful.
This is now my favorite Josh's video and abandoned place so far! So sick and awesome, it makes me think so many things about how crazy we' are as human race... And Josh, please use some gloves man c'mon! Haha Big fan of your work, thanks dude! Good vibes from Caracas, Venezuela and keep exploring!
You should do some kind of contest to where one of your "explorers" could go exploring to one of the abandoned places with you guys! That would be so interesting & fun.
I'm just a student and this is just speculation since we don't really know what the heck is in those beakers and we only know that theres potassium iodide somewhere involved. But I'll give it a shot. I'm assuming the purpose of that lab was most likely some form of analytical control and they werent working with anything weird. Blue chemical may have been just something for cleaning, since it has that cleaning brush submerged on it, but it would be weird to have it so far from the sink. Otherwise it may be copper ammonia complex since the colour is similar and there's also something that looks a bit teal nearby that could be copper in aqueous solution (I think they are stable enough to last for years but i don't know). Things in the stove are definitely samples of whatever they were working with in the plant, most likely to check for presence of certain metals, that's probably where the potassium iodide comes into place (and with it the yellow solution that is the only I can truly assume that is probably coloured like that because of I3-)
this video three hundred times better then the tunnel. but I did like the the tunnel camera, enjoyed this one better. it's so cool you go places I would never get to see.
This is so fkn cool... I so badly want to start Urban Exploring but 1: Sweden has like no places, as far as I know when I've asked around. 2: I have like 2 friends from the same country as me. 3: I'm a paranoid pussy and will most likely just get haunted by the Horror Games I've played mid-exploring and panic. How does one even start with this? Hell, I don't even have a drivers license... 😂😂
7:34 is an oven. Coal analysis usually takes place in it, for example how much of water content has been evapourated. Or, how much content of ash is present in the coal sample.
a real, hard and ruthless COD SNIPING MASTER would never say shit like this. roses are red, violets are blue, CRAP! what the fuck is wrong wit u mane?!
If you're close, you should check out a place called Rehmeyer's Hollow at night. Go in the forest - it's probably the most haunted place I've ever been to. The patch of forest at nearby Herbst road is one active hotspots
07:50 googled Leco AF 600 and found AC 600 I assume more or less the same use The LECO AC600 semi-automatic calorimeter is a Windows -based instrument developed to measure the calorific content of various organic materials such as coal, coke, and fuel oil. The calorific value of a sample is determined by precisely measuring the heat released after combustion of the sample in a controlled environment. The heat released is proportional to the calorific value of the substance. The sample is placed into a combustion vessel, which is pressurized with oxygen. The combustion vessel is automatically lowered into a water bath within the instrument known as a bucket. The bucket is sealed using an inflatable bladder. The cavity surrounding the bucket is known as the jacket and is also filled with water. The water temperature in the jacket is closely controlled at a precise set temperature (isoperibol calorimeter system). The sample is ignited and the temperature of the bucket and jacket water is measured by an electrical thermometer with a resolution of 0.0001 of a degree. A measurement of the water temperature inside the bucket and jacket is collected every second. The results can be corrected within the software for any spiking, nitrogen, sulfur, moisture, and ash content if necessary. Two options for analyzing data are available. A simple temperature difference may be chosen by the user (standard mode), in which calorific values are determined by a simple maximum temperature rise of the bucket. The user may also choose to use a thermodynamic model (TruSpeed™ mode) that has been developed by LECO to model heat exchange within the AC600 system. The TruSpeed mode takes into account heat capacities of the system's components along with corrections for energy transfer within the system. The TruSpeed mode enables the AC600 to attain rapid 5 minute analysis times without compromising the accuracy or precision of the calorific result.
Hey Josh could you please cheek out The abandoned Wyman-Gordon power plant in Dixmoor, Illinois. I've been there it's a very cool place. I did not see the all of it unfortunately becouse I got dizzy and had to leave. It would be awesome to see you go there. just a heads up you will be the only white person there...
The "thermal suit" is for high voltage work The red lock boxes are for lock out tag out, when you lock off a power source. Typically a key is in the box, so Everyone working on the equipment puts a lock on it.
I am learning about power plants and radiation in school and it's really cool to see you take adventure in a lot of places. For me to realize a lot. Thanks for the school help.
Interesting: You play with the old Eico oscilloscope in the control room, but ignore the Tektronix oscilloscope right next to it, a much cooler piece of equipment. When I was in 8th grade, I remember copper sulfate was the color blue that that chemical is.
If it hasn't been said already - Those lock boxes are lockouts for when dangerous work is being done. Basically everyone working puts their own padlock on the lockbox. inside the lockbox is some form of key or specialized equipment that shuts down everything so nobody can get hurt by accidentally activating a piece of machinery or electricity.
That Red box with the lock on it is called a Lock Out Tag Out box. When they need to work on big machinery (or in my case a theme park ride), the master key gets put into the box. Then, anybody that is going to be working on the machine gets a lock and key, and puts their lock into one of those slots on the box. That way, the machine (or ride) can't be turned back on while someone is still "out". So likely there's nothing inside those boxes.
Yoo Josh! That blue stuff probably is DCPIP. It is a black powder which colors blue when it is put in water. DCPIP is often used to indicate vitamine C! I didn't see any titration stuff, but that is often used with it! When the DCPIP reacts with DCPIP, de stuff turns pink when everything reacted well. The more you know.. ;)
I know you guys love keeping stuff how it is but y'all just walked through hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of power supplies/lab glassware/centrifuges/furnaces/ and nitrogen compressors. Smh opportunities wasted.
Nitelynx96 it is super easy to de contaminate equipment all you do is wipe it down and clean it with acetone or soap. Contaminated things aren't like the cartoons
love the video, one of my favorites! I do wish you had some longer versions. I would have definitely watched an extended or longer version for this particular area you guys were in
The red lock boxes are for lock out tag out procedures. Everyone working has to take the lock off before the machine is started back up. Used during maintenance so no one gets injured.

Adam Riffe Thank you for sharing that's really cool
The arc is usually as hot as 4 suns combined...
I thought I was that but didn't want to say in case I get shit for getting it wrong
ApocalypseReady 1 if it was that hot just the simple fact of it being there would melt the whole place due to radiation.
The way Josh gets excited is contagious!!!

well a lot of plants have pH buffers to calibrated their equipment with. could be a number of things, but likely harmless unless ingested
