After asking chatgpt for some assistance, I did a search and found this video based upon what it told me. A "normally closed momentary switch" or "push to break switch" is exactly what I need to bypass the coffee basket sensor on my $300 Cuisinart coffee maker and externally mount it so I can reset the unit without unplugging it and resetting the programed time. At the moment, without this switch, I have merely crimped the two wires leading to the sensor together so that it thinks the basket is inserted. Over time the basket sags and the unit becomes faulty. This corrects that problem, though I did not account for it trying to be a smart coffee maker and REQUIRE the user empty the basket after each use... I'd rather that be left up to the user. Thank god I know which kind of switch to get now!
Great video - simple and clear. But I wonder, what kind of switch is used/required, when you want a reset button, in a circuit? Would you use a momentary [normally open] button or a momentary [normally close] button? Please let me know, I want to learn. Thank you kindly
