One word. Goosebumps. That was stunning. I was holding my breath through parts of it and watching how her fingers danced over the strings and levers. I'm just starting to learn and have wondered what can be played on a harp. This opened my eyes to possibilities. :) I'm MANY years away from even a simplified version of this though.
My jaw is on the ground never to be returned to my face...incredible technically and resplendent emotionally...the melody hand painting the picture and perhaps the greatest left hand I have ever seen building the foundation for the song to take flight. Bravo Tamsin Dearnley, Bravo!!!
Wow wow wow. It just got better and better. What an incredibly talented lady you are!!! Such perfect playing and such a long piece all from memory. I’m totally in awe. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece. 💐💕

As a lever harp player myself I know how much you must have put into this fabulous arrangement of a true rock classic. All I can say is Wow, well done!
Ah, thank you so much - so kind of you! I've been playing it for quite a while now, but it did take me quite a while to be happy enough with the arrangement to video it. So pleased you like it - it IS such a classic, isn't it ;)
there is one thing i don't understand it's WHY is she is "touching" the hightest part of the harp it seem like or she was touching mechanics or some "switch" ! i understand why she play at diferent "hight of cords" bexause as someone who had played guitar, bass and now 5 strings banjo and ghuzheng i know "cords instruments ( my list intrument is the only one that is not a cords instrument but a wind one as it is bagpipe) But Harp i have not clues on what was theses "moves" at the top of the harp! So please explain in an understandable way for none harpist!
@@mariagorbunova8388 Oh ok thank you i had never played harp but i'm playing other instruments some bein "rare" in my country france ( like guzheng and 5 string banjo) so i was "curious" because i HAVE "musician knowledge" but no harp knowledge! So thank you very much!
@@thaerosAn easy way to understand this is to think of the strings of a harp as being like the white keys on a piano with no black keys to supply the sharps and flats. The movement Tamsin frequently makes while playing this piece is to engage what are known as semitone levers which enable her to play the "accidentals" (sharps or flats), which raise the pitch of the string by one semitone by flicking them up and lower the pitch by a semitone if flicked down. Stairway to Heaven is full of key changes so it demands a lot of lever changes in order to play it on the harp. The large orchestral harps do the essentially the same thing with a series of foot pedals. Hope this helps.
This was everything I was hoping for and more, truly beautiful, I’m a huge zeppelin fan and this was absolutely amazing. You are incredibly talented, and should be so proud of yourself!

This is such a treat to listen to! Are you selling this arrangement? I’d love to buy it! A version of this was the first song I ever learned on the pedal harp, and I’ve really been missing it now that I’ve switched back to lever.
Thank you! And I'm afraid I've never got round to writing this one down, sorry - I just listened to the piece about a million times and tried to get it as accurate as I could... 😆I'm sure there must be arrangements out there, though. Funnily enough I think maybe this is easier on lever than pedal harp (though as a terrible pedal harpist I /would/ think that!). Good luck - welcome back to the world of levers...! 😁
🍀I'm liking music without the need for ear-aching amplifying, and appreciating the accoustal demonstration of versatility in music. I like watching that 2 cellos video back in the 1700's where they drive the parents crazy on accoustic cellos. I also appreciate the detail of the original song that you put into your harp rendition......accoustically!
That was very impressive Tamsin. Love the quick lever work and great bass line. Was intrigued to see how the lead break would work out on the harp.. and I wasn't disappointed!! I'm a guitarist struggling to learn the harp and at 69 I don't think I'm going to achieve your level... but I am inspired to push on!
Thank you so much for taking the time to catch, and for your lovely comment!🥰 It was actually really fun to work out how to do all the parts and try to keep the feel faithful to the original. It took a lot of practice to get it right though! 😉 I wish I could play the guitar better! I play for fun but I’m not very good - I find the left hand contortion for the chords something of a trial 😆 I suppose like anything though it’s a matter of practise…!
