What We Can Learn from Google about High Performing Teams

Studies from Google's Project Aristotle show that high performance is closely correlated to a team’s communication patterns and whether all team members actively contribute to making decisions and moving the project forward. In high performing teams communication exchanges are distributed evenly among the team members and at the end of the day everyone has spoken roughly the same amount. But how can we create this kind of communication patterns on our teams? It turns out psychological safety, vulnerability, and social sensitivity has a lot to do with it.
