Excellent video, man. Thanks for uploading. In an existing pond situation, algal growth or scale would mean that a clean up job in the affected area would be needed to enable the patch to stick, but when it does stick, wow, it really sticks. Look forward to future uploads, man.
Subbanna Varanasi You might have trouble finding them at home depot. If you have any trouble finding a patch kit we have them in our online store - theponddigger.com/product/pond-liner-repair-kit-firestone/ Best of luck and keep me posted!
I set up a carp pond on my parents house and my dad keeps on complaining about dead fish every morning. Your video helps me a lot. now, I know where did I get wrong. Thank you so much!
Hey, Eric. What can you do if you have very large damage to a pond liner? We use our liner for a swimming pool for our wolves. Unfortunately, they’ve also used it as a chew toy so we have some sections that are 2 ft.² that need to be replaced if we wish to salvage the liner. Since the liner is over $500, I’m wondering if you have any ideas?
@Xolette We will be doing a trouble shooting leaks video in the future so have no fear. The liner is suppose to last 20 years exposure to the sun if it was rolled out on your roof. When you put it below water and cover it with stone or plants or shade and such your life expectancy on the liner is even better. I have seen 40 year old liner ponds still holding strong! Breath easy my friend, breath easy.
Very helpful and it looks so easy! Thanks for posting. I have a question. I just built a pond and I know that the liner is supposed to last for 20 years... would I expect that around the end of those 20 years that my pond would have leaks? And if so, how would you be able to find those leaks and to patch it if the entire pond is rocked in?
I removed an old skimmer and installed a floating skimmer. How can I patch the large hole the old skimmer left behind? I patched it with pond liner and the double sided liner repair tape along with some of the black roof caulk you use in the bottom drains. 5 months later and it’s coming apart. I need a real solution besides repotting the entire liner. Thank you so much 🙏
Hey CraftDope! Thanks for the comment. We are currently shooting video with a different format and have been posting our trials and errors on Facebook the past couple months. As soon as we work out the rough details we will be blasting on RUclips again. Thank you for your patience. Follow Us On Facebook our Fan Page is The Pond Digger
Will this patch work on a pond liner that is not rubber? I believe I have a polypropylene liner. It feels like a hard plastic rather than rubber. I have a 2" tear that I need to repair and the kit I bought at Lowe's didn't work at all. I wanted to try this but need to know if it would work on my liner or if you have one that would?
Well, have a tiny 1/4" or smaller hole in the deepest section of pond, about 8" from the top. The pond is 2000 gal apx, and my son says we have to empty that part to patch it. I have your kit. I think we can just lower the water level and do it, even pull that area up? My son says no. I would rather not, there are big rocks and flag stones on the edge....but will do what I have to to fix it.
@ThePondDigger what is a skimmer, on other pond videos, i see water pumps in a skimmer, and a long hose attached to the skimmer, and the hose attach to the skimmer leads to the waterfall, is that like.a type of filtration??
We have this really old garden pond, that is made of cement/concrete. But there are some big holes a few places. Will water leak out of these holes or is the underground too saturated for this to happen?? How could you fix these holes?? Can you use pond liner??
+MsTommyknocker Find a local concrete expert and see if they can come by and give you a consultation to advise. It's not as easy as just giving you a formula for the repair. Hope that helps.
Hi, was just watching your pond patch tutorial and it was great, thank you. My husband stuck 2 square patches on the hole and they are still leaking so I'd like to do a new repair - any ideas on how to remove the two older patches? some sort of solvent to dissolve the glue so I can peel them off? We don't have any fish in the pond right now, just frogs and tadpoles 🙂 Also, I am up in Canada on the west coast, will you ship a repair kit? If so - can you let me know the cost? Thank you
I have a 30' by 50' 4 foot deep square I need a liner for I am going to be raising tilapia for food in it so I don't think I need the Epdm rubber liner because the pay back time on the liner for the amount of fish I get would be so long to you have any sugestions
@ThePondDigger Um no I did not, My friend wanted a double patch so first I patched with the entire patch, then with a piece of liner & Double liner tape on top of that, he's crazy! I did round the corners down. :)
How best to clean the pond liner where the puncture is, without pulling it out. We are seniors, and job or pulling it out, removing the framework of this above ground pond, etc. too much.
Ann R Davis OH we do it right in the pond no problem! Clean any mud and or algae away from the area, let it dry and then follow the steps in the video.
Woke up this morn and found half the water gone. On closer. look I found rabbit fur and couple of hawk-sized holes in it. Yeah - a bird of pray struggled with a rabbit and his talons cut my liner. At least it's a nature thing.
well, I already repaired my pond liner once, when it was empty, now I have to do it again because of the same paver stone.. Now that my pond is full i'm pained by the idea of emptying it, I suppose I have to though. well, at least I have 2 ponds now and can transfer my fish to their old home... Though I am afraid of what my redtail catfish will do to my other redtail catfish when they are back together again... I have in my mind an idea of a way to do repairs such as this without emptying a pond using a suction cup and other things that would need inventing xD Fun times@ the pond!
Should have put primer on both pieces then stuck them together..she should not have pressed it on first..she trapped a bunch of air bubbles before she rolled it. I bet
It would be much better to show how to patch a leak in a ready made pond with normal creases in the liner. Very easy to do it on a flat table.
@TheRossiboy That's what we're trying rock! Short quick videos with tips and tricks to make DIY pond builders lives easier. Thanks for the feedback.

Whats the leading kit over here Rich ?
@@malsearle (my other channel) there are a few options depending on what you're fixing - feel free to ring any time.
I am going to Home depot to find these patches today and try it on my pond. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks for the video.

We have built a few ponds that were simply stages for railroad enthusiasts! Such a cool scene!
I set up a carp pond on my parents house and my dad keeps on complaining about dead fish every morning. Your video helps me a lot. now, I know where did I get wrong.
Thank you so much!
We don't like dead fish. Glad we could help you find a solution.

Did you use liner primer? I have seen low quality liner primer fail. I prefer Firestone liner primer and tape and use it without fail
@@ThePondDiggerthanks for the response … I used EternaBond EternaClean Spray Cleaner. Is this the reason it failed you think?
Hi. Great video.
How do i get this kit shipped to Kenya and what will be the cost?
Thank you
@Arteolike Did you cut the patch in a circle? I have a feeling you did!
Thanks Eric, great demo!
@elegantkoiponds Thanks for the feedback on our video!
Great how to video guys. Hopefully I'll never have to do it. But if so now I know how to do it correctly. Keep the vids coming :)
Yes this is a typical ecosystem pond set up that you describe.
@10kpondguy Glad you approve. Thanks for the feedback.
@AnimalLunatic That would be nice! Thanks for the feedback!
you should try garden railroads. they look amazing with ponds. and it would be really help full to lots of people.
Can I use extra Rodman rubber instead of the sticky patch?

It might give you a temporary solution. We have done temporary repairs like this during remodels on ponds.
contact Wettpets, Dalhnaga GA they use that type of liner and have the repair kit
@MrBigfishbrad We hope you never need the tips and tricks in this video either! Thanks for the feedback!
@eliden Cleaner BUT more importantly stronger. Thanks for the feedback.

Can you use this to repair a preform pond. I have a cracked preform pond and don't know if I can use this.
What does the primer consist of? That step is key to a good patch.
@shit4shore Yes you can use the cut off pieces to patch small holes. (Thanks)

If I wanted to extend my pond can I use this on a straight line so to speak ?
Hope our repair video helped once you found it!
I have a time-sensitive question hopefully you haven’t already answered. Will this patch work on a preformed pond liner? The hard kind?
What type of liner does this work with?
Sir, You Are One Amazing Guy. ;)
Hey great vide, thanks :)...just a little question, what type of liner is that? thanks
do you have a product that can be applied underwater? the pond is big and water can't be drained
What is the pond liner material? HDPE, PVC? Is the patch made of the same material?
Will this work on a ldpe liner ?
Go For It! You Can Do It!
How do you clean the liner so the glue sticks
You have a link to purchase please
how long does it take for it to dry before I can top off my pond?
In my pond I use double plastic not rubber liner can I use strong duck tape to fix it?
+Sebastian Not likely. It might buy you a little time but not a good long term solution.
Hi how do you find the leak 🙃
Can you use a vinyl patch (from a pool repair kit) on a EPDM liner?
Jalyn Evans I would not recommend it.
Thanks..already took it back and got the other stuff

@ThePondDigger Thanks! Good to know! :)

Hello The Pond liner repair,
Please, how can I patch a tarpaulin pond liner?
This is a hell of a lot easier to do on a nice flat table...
i finally found the hole in my pond after 5 years. lol.
Respond to this video... Yes that's my beautiful daughter. I'll make 43 years old this year.
She cannot be your daughter. She looks like your sister.
dude you need a show on animal planet or discovery!
Funny thing is, I used the same patch kit like a month ago =)
Does this kit work with PVC pond liners?
no.
@bartmaster1234 Why thank you!
All I wanted was a duck pond & now Im going to go for full fledged pond feature plus a few fish
45 mil epdm Firestone rubber liner

Pls I can I get the patch
That is a big tilapia pond. I would only consider using the 45 mil epdm. Sorry..
@strongsick286 Yes and no........
You still sell this Eric?
Any idea how to tell what type of liner i have, without the obvious of asking the retailer who has now gone bankrupt.
Cut a piece and send it to our headquarters Attention Eric Triplett
what's your website?
thanks
