Thanks for sharing this footage. It reminds me of my youth in the town too. It's good to see the original Hastings Station building again. The new one is functional and spartan! I can remember when the line you are travelling was only usable by steam trains!!
Interesting...particularly at 1.37 to 1.42 when u showed what Hastings rail station used to look like before it was demolished because I'd forgotten what it used to look like - shame u didn't film it inside.
At around 5mins in, there is mention of the LB&SCR route. Just beyond the bridge on the left would have been West Marina station, steam engine sheds and turntable. To the right is West St Leonards station. To go to either station, you would board a train and change either at St Leonards Warrior Square or to Hastings for the Tunbridge Wells service and Eastbourne service respectively. Hastings has lifts to all platforms, whereas Warrior Square has a stepped footbridge.
Thanks John, have been past there plenty of times myself, I understand the Bo peep junction would have been like the boundary of the LB&SCR and SER lines
Wow, I'd completely forgotten how the old Hastings train station looked - this brings back a LOT of memories!
Gosh, the Hastings footage certainly brings back some memories. We used to holiday there every year, I must go back at some point!
Excellent video, much as I remember, including the mini-golf. My father would have drunk in the Bo-Peep around this time.

The old Ore station. It's all long gone now.
Sad that the water balance system is no more but at least the railway is still there.

That’s Peter Egan narrating.
Is west St Leonard’s the same as the west marina station

@@seanclark6438 When SER put their line in, they cut through the LB&SCR tracks, and had to have a separate station at Hastings.
