- A film of Hastings Pier and seafront and St Leonards seafront and Warrior Square taken in 1993.
At Warrior Square can be seen some of the buses operating in Hastings at the time including: two Bristol RE's (one representing Hastings Buses and the other belonging to the Bexhill Bus Company) which came from the Potteries Motor Traction (PMT); one of the 20 seater Mercedes Benz 608D mini-buses of which Hastings had a large fleet (about 70) dating from 1986; three Bristol VR double deckers; one ex Eastbourne Borough Leyland Atlantean double decker which came to Hastings Buses via the short lived Topline operation; and a couple of the first generation Dennis Darts introduced in Hastings in 1992 which are now old enough to have been withdrawn and appear at bus rallies: Tempus Fugit.
I wish we still had these!
They look so much nicer!
@7:07 'ey up ! The old Mercedes "Mini-Link" buses...they were pretty dated even for 1993 ! Having said that, the mobile shed @ 8:18 makes them look classy !
I remember them being really smooth and quiet when i was a kid, especially compared to the double deckers.
They were good little buses. 🚍
They should have kept the twirly coloured lights on the lamp posts , yet another cut back !
@2:53 , not sure of their actual purpose, but I believe the low wooden structures on the beach are known as "groynes" (Ahem!)..
Groynes are there to prevent the shingle from moving from West to East along the beach - notice how the shingle banks up against the West side of them.
Ah, Ok, I see.
Amusing on some of the them, they have a sign saying keep clear of the groynes. Which is good advice for anybody.
Hastings punk & skins

Happy days.
There's always one anorak with a metal detector, isn't there ?
😂😂😂😂 comical
🙋🏽♀️ Guilty!😅🤓
5:25 no traffic cone on Queen Victoria's head today. That's unusual. Do they still have that often do you know?
I was passing by Warrior Square a few days ago and I noticed Victoria was sporting a traffic cone hat. I don't think it happens very often. How do they get it up there? How do they get it down? If passing at the right moment with a camera that would make a good video.
They must have dressed her up as a witch.
Wow I was 4 years old and lived on bembrook road , the things I would do to go back to that life 😞
I notice Warrior Sqr has a band stand. Should bring that back.
100% agree , would be great 🎼🎺
@11:15 "Stop ! Wait for me !"
I see a large clock where did that go yes bring the band stand back
very unusual, the queen doesn't have a bollard on her head!
In late 1940s and c1950s Hastings was good. c1960s Hastings went into serious decline and by c1980s was totally fecked up and trashed. Hastings c2021 desperately needs major redevelopment in the town centre and all the way up Queens Road. Fortunately Alexandra Park and the surrounding area is still very good.
Hastings should demand inward investment before voting for an future MP!
Not a single person of "ethnic diversity " origin anywhere in that whole video. Ahhh Britain as it once was called 😢
