I think this channel is singlehandedly becoming the biggest threat to my bank balance lately with how many gems I've been finding here. For some reason I skipped your original review of this, so I'm glad I caught this video today. Managed to pick the game up just before the sale ended, and I'm already hooked after a couple hours of playing it. It's very anxiety-inducing, but in a good way.
I saw it on steam and wanted to look. I downloaded it before going to sleep. My plan was playing this game for 1 hours then going to bed. I played it until morning. Now, I'm eating my breakfast then I will go to sleep.
A game I loved playing soooo much during the Alpha phase, that I am gladly willing to wait till it reaches full release v1.0 before I go back and play again.
Guys, this game is really really good, the devs are working hard on this game, they keep adding new things into the game. It's not like those game which just get a few new update in a year.
This is an awesome game. Play it off and on, but love the progression system, both within active game itself, and the perks you unlock between games as you gain favor with the light and dark goddesses. Definitely feel like you are fighting uphill the whole way and when you sweat out those late match wins, they feel great.
Cheers, Splat! Glad to see you reviewing good and developing games regularly! This game is absolute banger for sure, combination of medieval fantasy, heavy metal soundtrack and hundreds of zombies slain per night, plus the plot and the idea behind the game is such a good combo.
ive been playing this game alot and i love it. A little tip i found is putting a extreme range long range guy in a tower in the middle of town right at the circle. if hes got enough range he can pick off stuff before it hits the walls, and he is great for taking out stuff as it gets into the town
I was on the fence about getting this one but your video convinced me to get it and I love it!!! I love the strategy and the attacks have really good feedback and animations, the music is awesome and I really dig the aesthetic. Thank you!!!
That alt tip is awesome thanks. Though I disagree with the advice to just leave everything alive. Some enemies are indeed neutered by taking damage, but others like the two handed axemen don't get any damage reduction from damage taken iirc, so they can still wreck you and your walls/buildings if left alive. Some enemies like the flying bats are just as dangerous and mobile on 1 hp as on 100%
@@reoden7546 letting enemies alive is a great strategy in many cases, enemies that are wounded lose movement points which can blockade undamaged enemies behind them.
The Last Spell is very good game, it has become one of my favorite games ever. It is also super challenging. I don't know about the easy mode, but with normal mode, guaranteed, no-one has played it to the end without restarts. Can't be done.
I've been wanting to get into this genre of games that are Hoard Defense type of titles but none have grabbed my attention like this one. In the other games you have an allotted amount of time between waves and have to do everything quickly or be overwhelmed. They also have tech trees that are often confusing or a waste of time. This one does away with that from what I'm seeing and not only does it allow me to build out individual characters to fill specific needs/roles with the added bonus of loot and gear with perks. This is so much more than just another survive the endless waves but instead has a set win scenario from the start. I will be buying this now and want to thank you Splat for bringing it to my attention. Finally an old gamer from the days of Ultima Online, City of Heroes/Villains and SWToR may have found something I can really sink my teeth into without having to deal with the cesspool that is online gaming today...
great game, put a lot of hours into it so far and can't wait to put more in, tl-dr if you like rogue-likes and rpg elements and or are looking for a bit of a shorter fantasy version of xcom (in a sense) definitely recommend.
Another great one to check out is Druidstone. That game does XCOM better than XCOM. Its really great all the utility and synergy your characters can have. Its the best turn based combat Ive seen since Divinity OS. Maybe better than that too.
This game looks great keep killin it..Splatty sounds like a nerdy Always Sunny character in this vid lol..He'slots of spells and that mana regen off too..I remember after binging that show I was subconsciously talking like their dialogue and inflections. Their vernacular is really infectious. I had to check myself haha
Haloween songs: There is also Frank Zappa's Goblin Girl. And very arguably the Halloween theme from the Halloween movies. Also probably half the soundtrack of the Nightmare Before Christmas :p
Yo people, this game is awesome! if you wondering whether to buy, I say go for it. Indie games generally- is where it's all at nowadays. I have about 80 hours+ on this game and still not bored. Respect to this channel and it's community 😎
splat plays games so painfully suboptimally, but I think he does it on purpose to encourage people to get the game just so they can show him how it's done xD
1:07 welll... no the story is more that every kingdom participated in the magic equivalent of a nuclear arms race and the zombies arose from the fallout of the fallout of said nuclear arms race because every kingdom nuked each other
one run lasts two real days... rip two months from last summer. that was awesome. but then my save critically bugged. well, that was portal to another dark souls dive.
(35:15) Indeed, you had lowered several enemies to 16hp or less. You could have used your firepower on enemies with more than 16hp and used Execute to finish the rest. ;)
I have been interested in this game for a while, it`s good to see they got a focused level-up direction by putting character-specific perks but they still need to get rid of the level-up randomness. and I don`t care about that idiot from beta the got an epic level up once. getting mage level in your swordsman is not good and the reroll is useless.
I think I refunded this game last year because it just didn't work the way I was hoping, but now it seems alot more like what I was wanting and so I may pick it up again. Before it just didn't seem fleshed out enough, I felt very limited in moves and builds and didn't like the way resources were done.

Ha, I was in fact one of those people screaming "USE EXECUTE!" Thank you for doing it for me.
Confirmed, Splatty can hear us!

I love the "Blehh" noise the zombies make when they die.
I love playing this game. Thanks, SpallterCat! I'm gonna get a bunch of videos for my channel done this weekend. I needed that push
I think I'd classify Thriller as a halloween song too, but to each their own.
I remember finishing the first town of this game a year ago with 2 musket guy 2 archer and the tankiest scepter mage i have ever created.
Can hit "alt" to see all enemy movement range at once. Also it's best to get many enemies low before finishing any of them off.
Yes and no cause any zombie you let live can still hit and damage the walls it’s a mix of finishing them off and letting them live

Werewolf Barmitzvah: "Am I a joke to you?"
hahahah I was gonna say that too.
And now I've got 'Muffin top' stuck in my head
Dude- never heard of this title. Its so friggen good, I've been at it for 2 days now and so much shit going on with it...
Thanks Splat, keep it up.

Having beaten the game once when it was first out and now. Everything feel's changed and I can't say I dislike them
Picked this up off of you're original review and had a blast, might be time to dip back in
I completed a run (Lakeburg) on my 7th try. Watching your video was the first time I realized that there was an undo button.
Churning through enemies in an industrial way? KMFDM - Godlike! Lol
I have really come to appreciate these videos. Thanks
Literally just came to say - this game is fuuucking good, if you're on the fence and you like anything strategy even remotely - buy it.

6 minutes since published, must be a personal record for how fast i got here haha

I'm in love with the UI of this game!
the game is really really good, can recommend it to everyone!
can confirm. i've put in over 100 hours so far and love it!
Visual and audio feast with harsh challenges and rich progression, what's not to love about it ?
love the ost, cant wait for the game to be done!

more last spell? i'm in
I put like 60 hrs into this game like a year ago when it was pretty basic, and it was still very good.
Ministry- Everyday is Halloween.
nightmare before xmas have the best halloween songs
“Monster Mash is the only verified Halloween song.”
Spooky Scary Skeletons: am I a joke to you?
creature feature my dude; Halloween has its own genre now
Didn't know Creature Feature, but they made me think of Dead Man's Bones
This is my favorite game right now!
King Diamond - Halloween
Full costume. Every day.

yes, and after that the survivers are trying to eradicate magic to end the zombies the magic war created.
This looks great! Will definitely consider picking up
8:50 I dont know about you, but when I think "Halloween", I think "Keeper of the Seven Keys" ^^
Reminds me of Zombicide Black Plague in a way. Where you gotta optimise your activations in zombie crowd management
8:50 - Aside from literally all of Nightmare Before Christmas, sure. Oh, and Thriller, just a little unknown indie song that. :P
MJs Thriller is a verified Halloween song.
Wait. You mean you *don't* spend most of Halloween singing "This is Halloween!"? Splat. I, and the Pumpkin King, are very disappointed.
ThankYou SirSpla77
Thanks, I just wishlisted this game.
Splatt can't be won't be stopt., always right on time whit a video. Keep it up man, your great. Keep doing you, awsome streams btw.
stopt?
this gives me they are billions vibes
>only verified Halloween song
My man clearly hasn't listened to Spooky Scary Skeletons.
You got to get that magic bash.
“Spooky scary skeletons” would disagree about there only being one Halloween song
Turned-based horde survival?
You have my attention.
Considering the state of the world right now, when you mentioned "propagation effect" I actually heard "propaganda effect".
just want to point out that i expect getting murderously attacked from the "blocked" hillside from the start of the playthrough
Really looking forward to playing this once it leaves EA! Looks awesome!
If anyone is interested in this game it is a DEF buy, its on sale rn for 16 bucks and the music is awesome
This is Halloween by Marilyn Manson is pretty fucking good.
38 minutes? You’ve spoiled us
I mean... Thriller kinda works.
random comment - so the Utube loves you as much as I do
Splat, my man...how about Thriller?! 😅
Just got this yesterday. damn its good!

So This Is Halloween, & Halloween (1 & 2) don't count as Halloween songs?
looks very fun
What about the song “This Is Halloween”?
Awww snap!
So, what you’re saying is that there is a panic mechanic?
Halloween song
Zombie Jamborie (spelling may be wrong)_
what about "this is halloween"? or are you not counting that one? does thriller count?
Engagement! 🤯😤
isn't Michael Jackson - Thriller not a Halloween song?

let me start off by saying i love your vids and i watch a lot of them but my thing what is with all these games about zombies lol just saying
🖤

Is yt-vids without the music or is it just extremely low and Splat speaking 24/7 pretty much makes it unhearable?
I’ve done it.
Fyuck yeahhhh
What about this game is a sandbox?
Time warp ?
