I remember about the ship that was found but not one living soul aboard. So sign of violence. The dining room was all set with plates of food partially eaten. It was like everyone disappeared when their chairs were spaced from the table as if whoever was sitting there just disappeared while eating!

Only if some short-circuit spark or small fire like a cigarette or lighter get in the contact of methane bubbles otherwise there's no other way that can cause a blast.

Hey guys, ever thought of trying a personal gas tech, it's bout the size of a old transistor radio, it monitors the o2 levels, hydrogen sulfide levels, n, methane levels that are around you, n, you could also get different sensor heads for the different gases, but they must be calibrated everytime you use it, to be accurate, just a thought, have fun ,shakyjake out.

a void, and the ship would fall in and be covered up by water returning without an explosion., It has been proven.

I’m
one problem. Coal is not an explosive and neither is coal dust unless it is extremely fine and well dispersed in the air. Burning methane could not just light the dust in a pile -- that would not destroy a ship. At that point, the buoyancy issue with massive amounts of a gas in the water would be a better explanation. To have the methane (natural gas) explode and smash coal into dispersed fine powder coal dust, it would have to have an almost perfect oxygen/gas mixture -- highly improbable, though still barely possible.
USS Cyclops disappeared 4 Mars 1918. Here sister ships disappeared without a trace 8 Mars 1941 (Proteus) and 27 Febr 1941. Carribean and Virgin Island. It is also possible a design flaw in the longitudinal beam due to corrosion.
