So glad they allow the guys to be cheerleaders as well because there is a passion in our souls as well to cheer and be free and happy. Also I love how they keep it clean and fresh to appeal to a large community mixture for all people to enjoy.
Cheerleading started as a male sport. The first cheerleaders were men. During WW1 the men were away at war and women took over the sport. The NFL started in 1920 just shortly after the war ended. They started with female cheerleaders and remained that way until the first men made NFL cheerleading squads in 2019. I don't know if this particular school didn't allow men as cheerleaders but I think all colleges allowed men to at least try for the squad. There have been a long recent history of male cheerleaders at the college and high school level. It's just the NFL that was prohibitive.
