just downloaded all the billy elliots you have and fast forwarded to my favorite songs and by far George Macguire is hands down THE best Billy Elliot I believe, he's got some serious pipes
Erik thank you so much for this. I always thought George was one of the best Billys - its fantastic to see his whole performance. And also to see Tim Healy, who has such a great voice. His 'Deep into the ground' is amazing here. Great production. Thanks so much for posting it for us.
Well done George. I used to see you often. My grandson and I miss the show. Nothing else on the London stage to touch it. We saw both of the last shows. Magic.
Both George and James of the original Billy's were "street Billy's". Only Liam had sufficient ballet training to do the more difficult ballet techniques. The electricity dance was always modified to fit the skills of the boys doing it. Personally, I prefer the "ballet Billy's", as I just don't think all that flopping about and tumbling would get a boy into the Royal Ballet School (perhaps he'd make Ringling Bros., but not ballet school). All three of the original Broadway Billy's were "ballet Billy's", and, in my opinion, as a group, they were the very best set of Billy's I've seen -- and I've seen a lot of boys in the role. (David Alvarez was particularly spectacular. Check out the skill and precision of their introductory performance in London at the 3rd anniversary just before the Broadway show opened. ruclips.net/video/hbjc_RGQOk0/видео.html )
