Loved it Pops! I’m 74 and probably won’t ever actually never see Yellowstone in person! Glad you as an older person CAN! Love the painting in your room! Show us more of your art ok?❤️😀🇺🇸🌏⭐️
Great video Pops! Yellowstone is incredible beyond words. So glad you had a chance to experience it and can't wait to see more of the adventures you had there.
You picked some of the best. The hike to lower Yellowstone falls is not horribly hard. Its switchbacks down to the overlook. Then switchbacks back up but there are benches to stop and rest on on the way back. Can’t believe you had never been there. I went for the first time in my 20s. What a great place! Everyone should see it. It’s incredible
Thank you so much, Pops! I haven't visited Yellowstone since I went with my family in high school (1970s). Definitely overdue for another visit. Now I can see which trails I can do with my "senior issues." 🙂
Thanks Pops. Last year we went to Grand Teton & Yellowstone for the first time. We hope to go back this year to do some hiking & this video definitely helps with suggestions.
My dad and a few uncles are planning a trip to Yellowstone this October, and there's a few mobility issues various members in the group have. This video is so nice to find good trails they'll be able to do!
I, too, didn't make it to Yellowstone until my 60s. I drove up from my home in San Diego and spent 5 nights in the park in September 2021. Artist's Point, Grand Prismatic Overlook, and West Thumb were also high on my list. As fantastic as Yellowstone is, I enjoyed the stunning Grand Tetons more on my way to/from Yellowstone.
@1958zed The Tetons are special. Check out Through my lens recent post on the Tetons if you are interested. He’s premiering one on Yellowstone too tomorrow.
I just saw your and Josh's Yellowstone video yesterday. Since I am a senior citizen, I liked watching this one too. Thanks for sharing. Maybe someday, but at least I can see it through your and Josh's eyes too. Thanks again
I worked for the concession company (TW Services) in my twenties in the hotels. Spent four seasons between Old Faithful, Lake Hotel and Canyon. Many retired folks also worked in the facilities. YOU can do it, too - Live there! Those were fabulous summers. (Also worked in Mount Rainier and Grand Teton Nationsal Parks!)
Just went for the first time in August and I am a day or two past 70! We only had one day in the park and it poured without stopping all day, so we only went on a couple of hikes and saw very little but we did enjoy seeing Old Faithful from the Lodge Porch on a rocking chair with some hot chocolate out of the rain, lol! Thanks for showing so much of what I missed, hope to go back when it looks like these video clips and enjoy the walks you recommended!
@BrancyCDA Bummer. We had a similar experience in Banf. Could hardly see anything. I lived being able to chill in the porch with hot chocolate and watch Old Faithful! Happy to help fill out your experience a bit.
On my first trip to Yellowstone I had no idea about the upper geyser trail. I thought it was just Old Faithful. But I kept walking and walking seeing more and more geysers along the way
Thanks for sharing. Great info for us over 60’s who still enjoy hiking in the great outdoors. When I visit Yellowstone I’ll definitely be taking your advice. Happy trails 😊
Great suggestions. I think two of the hikes you mentioned are found in the Norris Geyser Basin, which is pretty incredible. I mention this just to help folks find it. The other one I would not miss is Mammoth Hot Springs, which is pretty unique. In addition to Artist's Point, the other viewpoints for the Lower Falls of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone are very easy to get to and provide an up close look.
Great video. I turned 75 yesterday and I am leaving in few days for Yellowstone (first time). I am a lover of Yosemite (as you are) and really love anything mountains related. I am really not into geothermal stuff that much, so was hoping for some beautiful easy/moderate hikes in the mountains of Yellowstone. My favorite hike of all time is the mist trail to Nevada Falls at Yosemite, but almost toppled off the stairs (no railing) leading up to Vernal Falls a couple of years ago. Not as steady on my feet, even with my hiking sticks, as would like. The Artist point you talked about looks good, hope I can find a few more.
Yes there are lots of other options besides the geothermal ones. Artist point for sure. Yeah those steps by the falls in Yosemite are a bit dicey! Thx for watching.
This is an excellent summary of the hikes. I've never been there, but we're hoping to visit later this year, or next summer. I now have a guide to go by.👏🏻 Thank you so much, *Pops. BTW, that painting looks SO lovely. 🏡🙏🏻🤗👏🏻☀️
6:05 - I haven't been to Yellowstone since 2015, and back then, there was no trail to the Grand Prismatic overlook! We had to bushwhack up the hill to get those views. Crazy how much it's changed!
@@popshiking For sure! I was so shocked there wasn't! The other trail was still there, but there was no split off. I still have videos/pictures of how it was back then! We definitley weren't the only ones climbing up the hill, so people knew about it!
@@popshikingHi, last year we saw Grand prismatic but the upper trail we actually did this summer. It was so beautiful! We actually spotted two bears close by the parking lot area.
I'm watching this after Josh's so the resemblence was put in my head, but I have to say at a second glance when Josh makes that "I don't know, wait and see look"...
I also love Yosemite but most all the parks are so unique and a pleasure to experience. We was only able to spend a day here . But the smell kind of leaves an impression on you also . I like the first hike for the easy but the view is special and old faithful unbelievable in it happens regularly. And the hotel in that area is so cool 😎. Great job love your videos . 😊
@PatrickMchenry-qp8fp They each are really unique. For me Yellowstone had so many different things between the mountains, geothermal, waterfalls, lake and wildlife. Unusual for one to cover so many bases.
Pops, Thanks: great Overview YNParke hikes: & YES, I *SEEN the “Monster” in the Geyser Formations,! Interestingly, we just VISITED Fort Yellowstone & MAMMOTH HOT SPriNgs last Fall 2023! For a “third “ time::incidentally, doing the “ BEARTOOTH HIGHWAY” drive: & overnights in Cooke City MT, *& RED Lodge MT,etc. ( Beartooth **an incredible drive ,admittedly note for people with height fears: fun drive, magnificent & a must see, at least for you & Josh.)….Incidentally, entering YELLOWSTONE Lamar//Valley , *& spending some time with Bison dozing at a “Pull Off, “ in Summer & the heat , is beautiful & transcendent!!)…..
@@popshiking Sorry about the fishes' tail...I just now see that it is off to the upper right. Doggone it! anyhow....kinda proud of my secret fish sign. Thanks folks. You're the "bomb" - ! (best)
Thank you Pops! Your video is beautiful and the information amazing too. I don't want to offend to anybody but I have a bad feeling about the Yellow Stone park and this area. I feel that very soon a catastrophe may begin there, in that paradise. It makes me very sad and I need to know if anyone resonates more with this. I read about a prediction for 2023 and the visions I had told me that very soon there will be volcanic activity there. I pray to God that this is not the case and that he protects every living being in that area and the entire world of course. If anyone resonates with this or has more information please let me know. Thank you very much and I send you a hug of light ✨🌎🌱🙌✨
We're planning a trip to Yellowstone in a few years, so appreciate the info! Also, do you watch/listen to anything that Dr. Corey Olsen puts out? The Tolkien Professor. So interesting.
@suebrownchapin9487 Thanks for the recommendation. I will look that person up. There was a time when I would do an occasional Tolkien lecture. I actually did a kind of Tolkien pilgrimage to Oxford and had like 40 places I wanted to see related to his life. Hope the video and the one that Throughmylens on Yellowstone tomorrow will help you plan!
Pops, I hear you complain about your knees. My doctor friend in the Dominican Republic's tells me that he saved another doctor he knows from getting knee replacements. & for arthritis he told me to put a Knox unflavored gelatin packet in my coffee or tea each day. Stir well. He says our bodies can regrow cartilage. Give it a try. I think it really works. -Debbie
Nice job! Very informative!
Glad it was helpful!

Thank you for this!
I’m taking my dad there when he turns 75, so this video is just perfect for me and him.
@afilipson What a great idea!! Plan on spending a little time at the Old Faithful Inn. It is amazing. Maybe even stay there!
Yellowstone looks incredible!! Im hoping one day ill get to visit it!!!

As for the "Monster of the upper Geyser", are you sure that it wasn't Josh himself? The Geyser does look like him.
