    What people forget is siddhartha was a hindu prince who gave up everything after he saw suffering.
    He is not a God . He is a man who was enlightened.
    Also the story that all martial arts came from shaolin is completely nonsense. China had martial arts b4 shaolin and buddhism arrived in china from india.

    • @MonkeyStealsPeach
      @MonkeyStealsPeach  5 лет назад +3

      Was there any point in the video where we said Buddha was a god or that all kung fu comes from Shaolin or Buddhism comes from Shaolin?

    • @immortalwarrior4722
      @immortalwarrior4722 5 лет назад +2

      @@MonkeyStealsPeach oh no there wasn't . I was just pointing out the normal misconception of shaolin.
      Its good for people to knoe the truth.
      Another good point is that kung fu and buddhism was non existent at shaolin until for some time in the 19 hundreds until its revival once china opened its doors and rebuilt shaolin and wudang as tourist spots that teach modern wushu. Same as the many schools around it.

      @@immortalwarrior4722 its not so black and white. martial arts have been practiced within the temple since at least the Ming Dynasty. There is the story of the 13 monks helping the Tang Emperor, as talked about in the video, but it was never mentioned what they actually practiced. There are clear records of Shaolin martial arts since the Ming Dynasty, and they were probably the most widespread during the Qing. After the temple was burned down in the 20s, a small amount of monks did remain in the parts of the temple that survived, all the way up until the Cultural Revolution in the 60s. There are a couple of monks from this period still living, and I was lucky to meet one of them, was hoping to get an interview for the series but he's 91 and wasn't up for it. The traditional styles remained in Dengfeng and the surrounding villages during this entire period... those big schools like Tagou and Epo are not representative of the what you can find. You will see in the next few episodes of this series..... so stay tuned ;-)

      I myself have trained in 7 star but more the hk line and Taiwan line and have found that alot of forms especially in hk line are from jing wu as mantis was taught there by my great grandmaster lo kwang yu.
      But unfortunately alot of the jing wu forms have been added into the 7 star system like eg.
      1. Gung lik kune
      2. Jeet kune
      3. Kwan ying kwan
      4.pakua dan dao
      Etc
      I would like to see masters of 7 star talking about wot are the traditional forms of this line.
      Cheers blud keep up the good work and ting.

      Sure! I would like to do a series on all the major branches of Mantis. It's a bit more tricky with the politics though, being a Mantis practitioner myself. It's easier to approach teachers when you are from a totally different style, plus I'm trying to cover the major northern styles.
      If you wanna see trad 7 Star in Shandong, check out my buddies @Mantis Boxing Society or @Tanglangmen also search for Zhong Lian Bao.

    Great channel and videos, saw a lot the last days. I'd like to know why Shaolin from master Hu Zhengsheng is different from master Wu Nanfang if both come from master Wu Gulun (ascendent of Wu Nanfang), but I think this question won't be answered. Someone says that 3rd generation of Wu family changed the Shaolin influenced by Chen Taiji, who knows! The lineage of master Hu come from 2nd generation of Wu family, Wu Gulun -> Wu Shanlin.

    • @MonkeyStealsPeach
      @MonkeyStealsPeach  5 лет назад +1

    • @immortalwarrior4722
      @immortalwarrior4722 5 лет назад +1

      Yeah monkey steals peach is correct in Chinese martial arts its not so standardized as say karate and taekwondo big schools . Unless u go to a big organization or morden wushu standard forms of training. Most sifu from the same line even same teacher has different interpretations also maybe studied at a different time in that teachers life. Also some masters bring in previous knowledge etc many different things that cause the change in style.
      Eg
      One of the styles i do me and 2 others joined at same time under this sifu . The sifu had about 30 students all up but me and my 2 mates were his closest. I went on to be his 1st diciple and finished the system and the other 2 dropped out at different stages. Both of them still claim to know the style but when they show it , it looks vastly different to my sifu or me.

    • @Tricroman
      @Tricroman 5 лет назад +1

      But master Wu Nanfang says his Shaolin is traditional and come from Wu Gulun. Curiously, the Shaolin of Shi De Jian is the same than Wu Nanfang. They learnt from different masters but I know that both were brother monks in Shaolin Temple and learnt too from master Yang Guiwu, one of the main master of Hu Zhengsheng. If you add that all claim practice Xin Yi Ba but they move different even knowing that Xin Yi Ba is skill (not forms), it makes more confused.
