- [WATCH] Wits Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Adam Habib wishes students well as they begin their online learning journey. He speaks on inequality and social justice, and elaborates on Wits’ efforts to ensure that all students have access to mobile computing devices, access to data and access to Wits’ library and learning management systems and sites at no cost. He elaborates on the availability of 5 000 laptops for students in need and the 30GB of data available for one month to every Wits student (at no cost to students), in order to kick-start the online learning process. Professor Habib explains why it is important to complete the academic programme and encourages students to rise to the challenge and to defeat the effects of the pandemic through online learning. He concludes by saying that the University is ready to support students and to walk this journey together.
Will appropriate adjustments be made to our fee statements considering that we will not be on campus? Such as charges for coursepacks that will not be printed but accessed online and charges for venues like laboratories and workshops that we have only used for a few weeks this year but we are charged for the whole year. As well as students that paid for parking but will not be using the facility.
Thank you Mr Habib for the practicable steps you've taken to look after student's interests. You have done a great job, sir!
Thanks Habib for leading Africa academia
Thank you so much for all you've done. You and your team are great leaders ❤
Using the 30Gb to watch this 🤓it's school content right?...thanks for the data.

There shouldn’t be any Academic Exclusion for the year 2020
This is very thoughtful, thank you ☺️.

We have data since we get our bursary allowances but some of us don't have electricity at home
Guys some modules are apparently not suitably structured for online learning and they only run for semester 1, what happens if this persists beyond the first semester? We have already been billed for them and no one seems to be responsive to this issue
Uncle habib for the win
I haven’t received the data yet. Please help
Me too😢
Teboho Matsheke still nothing
Honestly I'm more interested in the 140k we have paid even though we wont be at school for almost 6 months .

Social Justice and lowest common denominator 😹
This guy is living in another South Africa. Students who come from villages and remote areas hv 2 g signal if they are lucky. On top of that I can personally tell u studying from laptops and tablets has its challenges. U will need hard copies these students don't hv printers or scanners. Can u come to me so I can bring u to areas in free state, eastern cape and northern cape where ppl live in excessively painful poor conditions. There are students who don't even know about this online platform but it's busy happening. As a ex wits student who left before ur time I am deeply disappointed by this approach as its elitist. U live in a arrogant corner of ur mind where u think everything is easy 😏
