DID YOU MAKE IT TO THE END?
hella, I think you should listen to more they are every kind of genre
Nice to see someone reacting to these performances. I actually attended that particular live show back in 2011, and all I can say is that particularly these songs were quite frightening to witness. Everything black and red, crowd silent, Kyo's damaged voice, it all added to such a heavy atmosphere ("hell", as you mentioned, wouldn't be far from the truth). One of a kind experience.
Ohmygod, I cant see this without being absolutely 👁️👄👁️
I can only imagine how you must've felt during that. Drained!
Also, jealous of you, hah
@@FlowersOfSuicide666 yeah, I was really lucky to be i Japan in 2011. Unfortunately I have a hard time remembering whole concerts, but this segment must have had a real impact if I'm able to remember ;)
Wow! Thank you Gustav for sharing your experience! So cool to speak to someone that was there for this performance! I have to ask - was there anything else you remember about this performance that has stayed with you since then? Peace to you and thank you again for your words!
So so so great to see someone react to this! I love this time in the bands history even though it probably wasn't the best of times for the band. Kyo's voice problems and how he made them part of the art touches me so deeply. Honestly, if people don't FEEL this music they must be stones inside.
Dir en grey certainly are the greatest band in rock/metal for me but they are also experimental and did so much stuff during the 24 years they are together now. From pop-punk to this really dark and doomy stuff and they are far from done. I had the chace to see them live last year before Covid and watching them on DVD really is no comparison. I never felt a live so much - and I mean really feel, like they are attacking your bones and mind.
Talking a bit about this live: This was a symphonic live, soa lot of the additional instrumentation you heard in the background isn't part of the studio version or usually used in lives. This is, in my opinion, the heaviest sequencing of songs you can imagine. The Blossoming Beelzebub talks about depression, Mazohyst of Decadence was originally featured on their first full album Gauze [1999] and talks about abortion from the point of view of the embryo [I highly recommend watching the original version - unrestricted pv] but the lyrics where completely different in this show and obscured the theme quite a bit, or gave it another angle - just to slip into Tsumi to batsu [a remake from anothersong originally on Gauze]. These three together create such a condensed, dark world it's almost too difficult to bear even in the safety of a concert hall or at home behind your screens.
Now, you see I am incredibly happy that someone really enjoyes this side of Dir en grey because - Kyo is a vocal monster and most people want to showcase his vocal abillies when they suggest reactions. In other words, they prefer him nice and neat and clean and without that which really makes him into something special - the ability to put art, to put feeling first. Not only by singing beautifully and making you get chills from a note etc, but by using his voice to express feelings of pain, anguish, longing, despair, love which can never be truly described by words.
But: I am a huge fan of his second band sukekiyo - an experimental rock band with mostly clean singing [they are self-produced and can do pretty much everything they like. So they went from doing the most insanely beautiful ballads with spanish guitars, violyre etc to a quite industrial sound now with lots of electronics - actually danceable but 'disturbing' at the same time.] Maybe I can catch you on twitch sometime to recommend something :)
[or if you take requests from RUclips comments: I would really like to see you do a reaction to either Kugui [a ballad] ruclips.net/video/nxtXsrUbdDk/видео.html or saredo michizure ruclips.net/video/BrHEMzii3kQ/видео.html ]
Thank you so much for the reaction and for putting it on RUclips! 🤍
This ! 🙌❤️
Just extraordinary... I hadn't seen this particular set.
He really does go somewhere else when he's on stage... It's terrifying...
In all the good ways.
These three songs really does feel like hell's soundtrack. Kyo's vocal chords in this live aren't even in the best condition, but he can still pull off a chilling performance.
Also, it's not everyday that someone reacts to "The Blossoming Beelzebub" or even "Tsumi to Batsu" (the last song). I can understand why, but glad to see you giving those a listen.
Me encanta ese tema igual Mazohyst of decadence
Listen to dir en grey - vinushka(live)
