I'm not of a fan of these "clean" hits by Trouba. Just like our old friend Samuelson, One day a "Domi" will come along and Mr. Trouba will reap the reward of all these "clean" hits.
It looked to me like the intent was to deliver a heavy clean hit (I don't think he looking for a headshot this time), but he did get a bit too much head contact on that for me to call the result clean. Also Barron certainly did get low, but to use the "below the stanchion" argument, we'd have to be seeing it from a camera at ice level. The angle here just messes with the perspective too much.
I am glad the officials are consistently calling an Instigator penalty when a guy gets jumped for laying a big hit. I get standing up for your teammate; it’s respectable. But you cost your team. Challenge the player who laid the big hit to a fight later on when there’s no penalty and preventing your actions from hurting your team.
I actually think he is given the benefit of the doubt - by the referees, which have their non-calls validated by the league. Only opposing fans have an issue with this. The hits are not malicious. Physical yes. The only plays that are truly malicious are non-hockey plays. This is a good, hard check by a defenseman against an opponent entering the zone.
I love your content man but saying that his head was below the stanchion while viewing at least a 45° angle from above, is completely inaccurate lol. It really baffles me how so many hockey fans do not understand perspective and viewing angles when it comes to goals across the goal line, high sticked pucks, and hits to the head 😅
I'm a Rangers' fan, but I've always disliked Trouba. He's earned the bad rep. The chicken wing last year should have earned him no less than two games off. Still, I think this hit was aggressive but legal.
I don't think that hit was necessary at all as puck possession was lost. I have no issues with hockey being a physical sport, but trouba just takes it too far and seems like he wants players to get injured.
I don’t understand how NHL players are still skating across the blueline with their head down after seeing what happened to guys like Lindros for doing that.. I hate seeing guys get hit in the head, but it wouldn’t happen if they just kept their head up 🤷♂️

@@lancerhades971 I agree. They really should just take hitting out of the game. Maybe allow like a soft hit like a hold or something. But body checks should now be illegal.

I was at the game and a Ranger fan, seeing it live I thought it was a terrible hit, I texted my friends f@cking Trouba and was shocked when we got the pp, then when I saw the replay later on I texted everyone taking it all back, clean but maybe a little uncalled for at that stage of the game. Either way kids gotta keep his head up.
In a 4 on 4, Baron lost vigilance, and did not leave himself an out. When he spotted Trouba he actually got a bit lower and exposed his head to the oncoming shoulder. Trouba is a classic head shot artist. He is good at it. He always makes it seem legal. Clearly, he does not respect other players enough to get low and nail them through the torso, which is always an option even for a big dude like him. NHL rules are not tight enough to deal with head shots, they should be like high stick cuts, with little leeway. It is not about your intention it is about controlling contact.
"Area of contact, power of the hit, speed of the hit" has very little impact on injury, compared to "was the skater aware of the incoming hit?" THAT is whats dangerous... Skating with your head down like a child -_- Im a Russian GIRL and dont even play competitively, my grandpa would ice me and slash at me everytime I had my head down. Why? Who tf knows. I never played hockey, just taught to skate by one. hahaha
Personally I thought the hit was fine. Trouba tucked in and aimed for the chest, then Barron pussyed out and gave the puck away then turned last minute and got rag dolled. No one likes to see a player getting hurt but you gotta know who on the ice. The line Barron took was the perfect set up for a crushing hit. Complete lack of awareness on his part.
All those defending "big hits" and dirty play as part of hockey live in the past. Sport can evolve to be healthier to participate in without loosing any of its emotions, or attractive gameplay. Other sports are also adapting to be more healthy. Nobody should be watching hockey to see Trouba targeting heads with his elbow - watching McDavid on the other side is a good reason to watch hockey. Best regards from Eurooe
Looked clean to me, but Trouba is always looking for opportunities to seriously injure opposing players. One of these days he’ll succeed and get his Todd Bertuzzi moment.
You’re a disgrace if you think this is illegal. Should it be done this late in the game? His right… but, that can be debatable. It should not be a debate that it’s "illegal".
This hit is why they need to teach the kids in minor leagues how to take hits properly would save a lot of injuries you can train someone on how to take a hit

Baron should’ve stayed on the boards to try and protect himself. I gotta believe he knew the hit was coming. I’m leaning on it being a clean hit.
Someone just needs to give Trouba a taste of his own medicine,
reminds me of big Kronwall hits.
As a Trouba hater I’m gonna use this to irrationally push my agenda even though it’s not that egregious
At least your honest
Haters gonna hate no matter what others do...
Keep your head up. It's the NHL.
Wasn't a clean hit, it was a legal hit, big difference. The people who are calling this clean dont understand the difference.
As a huge ranger fan, I’m over it. I want him off the team. We’re ready to move on but Trouba isn’t.
He is going to win them a cup. I’ll come back to this comment after lol
@@GregAllenF1 this is his fifth year with the team. If one guy can win us the cup then what is he waiting for?
@@jjns3991624 this season obviously!
I'm a Rangers' fan, but I've always disliked Trouba. He's earned the bad rep. The chicken wing last year should have earned him no less than two games off. Still, I think this hit was aggressive but legal.
Beauty hit
It's just one of those scary-legal hits. Definitely looked dangerous, but there was clearly not an intent to injure there.
I hate seeing guys get hit in the head, but it wouldn’t happen if they just kept their head up 🤷♂️
I do fell for Marty St. Louis, I think he will be a good coach in a future
RANGER fan and I hate this. Trouba makes countless mistakes and this threatens a career of another player. He’d have the week off and a substantial fine if I’m commissioner.
Dude shut up. Grow a pair.
@@MackBolan1 seriously at what point is it on trouba to be better at assessing hes hits? Its not like this is happening to everyone every season, just trouba
Glad you not the commissioner, suspending someone for past offenses is absurd. This hit was legal and therefore a clean hit but suspend him anyway...Silly
More like an Isles fan.
@@lancerhades971 I agree. They really should just take hitting out of the game. Maybe allow like a soft hit like a hold or something. But body checks should now be illegal.
This dudes 5 minutes video on this channel keeps you more in the loop than 45 minutes of Elliot Freidman talking non sense with his 50 year old ass wearing a suit and white tennis shoes.
He's going to be a flyer someday!
The C stands for Clean
In a 4 on 4, Baron lost vigilance, and did not leave himself an out. When he spotted Trouba he actually got a bit lower and exposed his head to the oncoming shoulder. Trouba is a classic head shot artist. He is good at it. He always makes it seem legal. Clearly, he does not respect other players enough to get low and nail them through the torso, which is always an option even for a big dude like him. NHL rules are not tight enough to deal with head shots, they should be like high stick cuts, with little leeway. It is not about your intention it is about controlling contact.
It's hockey, not limbo, how much lower can you expect ANYONE to get?
"Area of contact, power of the hit, speed of the hit" has very little impact on injury, compared to "was the skater aware of the incoming hit?" THAT is whats dangerous... Skating with your head down like a child -_- Im a Russian GIRL and dont even play competitively, my grandpa would ice me and slash at me everytime I had my head down. Why? Who tf knows. I never played hockey, just taught to skate by one. hahaha
trouba is playing angry and rightfully so
Personally I thought the hit was fine.
It’s called HOCKEY, not Tennis!!!
It’s a textbook check.
This is the kind of thing you say when you're so emotionally invested to the point you only see what you're looking for.
No way Montreal could have caught to that pick. Ref should call icing they dun goofed.
How can you say the game was over? have you never seen 3 goals scored in 15 minutes? Play til the whistle.
Legal? Yeah. Ethical? No way.
You’re a disgrace if you think this is illegal. Should it be done this late in the game? His right… but, that can be debatable. It should not be a debate that it’s "illegal".
Full disclosure. I hate Trouba. He’s a bum who absolutely lays pre-meditated dirty hits. With that out of the way. It was a clean hit.
Habs fan here, I hate captain elbow but he gets a pass here.
This hit is why they need to teach the kids in minor leagues how to take hits properly would save a lot of injuries you can train someone on how to take a hit
Good hit ! Real hockey no roughing the Rodgers
Truba needs to be suspended. End of video.
Suspended for what, exactly? 😂😂😂
You should be suspended for that stupid comment
Good clean it , unfortunate he got his bell rung
It’s a clean hit but just a little unnecessary as we’re up 5-2 at the time of this hit
Doesn’t matter what the score is. You play to the conclusion of the game. Never such thing as an “unnecessary hit” when there’s plenty of game to be played.
@@deew_knird_reeb_ekomS I guess so
@@Gav_Rangersfan Honestly if you're up 5 - 2 with 10 min left in the third they should really just call the game. It's a good rule that will keep players from playing when it is no longer necessary.
It was a hard necessary lesson for Barron tho. Now he’ll, hopefully, remember to keep his head up
I'm a habs fan and Barron had his head down.
Look up Trouba fight with tiny Sam Bennett.. enjoy!
You are losing 5-2 and you carry it in pass it to the opposing player and look down and get rocked! As Don Cherry says keep your head up and dump it in!
Clean hit
Thought they traded him had a terrible postseason
Looked clean to me
Trouba's a head hunter, should be thrown out of the NHL.
looked about as clean of a hit as they come. its sucks but guys you gotta keep your head up you learn this in bantam
Clean hit but Trouba is still an piece of garbage.
(He's worst for me)
The camera angle makes everything look lower than it is. The camera is way way above the ice. Its shoulder to head. Classic Trouba.....
Well, trouba was playing hockey while the guy in the redshirt was trying to limbo...
while these big hits turn me off to the game, that was a clean hit
i agree with most of what you're saying, but the "below the stanchion" is just wrong. The camera is above looking down, you have no way of knowing where the hit was from that angle. 1:39 shows how far above the stanchion he was still, and yes he gets down a bit, but hes a solid 10+ inches above it at that marker, he doesn't duck down a foot and then get hit below that, thats just flat out inaccurate.
