I think you found out why the smoking tire guys stopped doing viewers cars. Unfortunately
God, I remember that video! 1980 Camaro and when Matt found out the brakes were diseased, the air was so thick with tension you could cut a knife through the owner-child's dumb laughs. I made the mistake of emailing Matt for a OneTake _after_ that video and to his credit, he did personally reply me with a decline. That whole era aged the man like milk.
Ahh the good times
just watched the camaro episode what a hoot
Some of the cars they did were really well set up and super fun to drive like that turbo fit. I gotta see this ep yall are talking about though.
@@PlasticRocket2yes, or that VFR swapped honda. Unfortunately the bad cars ruin it
I bet you are glad this didn't have the 3.5 or an LS when that throttle got stuck. Glad you everything turned out alright.
A newer fly-by-wire car with the throttle going haywire is a nightmare. You have very few options, and if it keeps going with the handbrake locked, you try to look for something soft or a way to ditch it or spin it out safely.
The J35a8 from the Type S with 286hp would be crazy in that car!
OZ engineering has a plate that connects that bolt pattern on a miata trans, I have one
J37
1:23 I'm jealous of how that oil filter is set up. An oil change looks like the easiest time in the universe!
I remember in my shit heap 96 M edition, bone stock car the throttle cable got stuck wide open while I was on my way to the premier of Infinity War. Put the key to ACC, put it in some grass, stood on the brake and feathered the e brake, took a minute to breathe, fixed it, and went on to my movie. Also I had front row seats to the imax premier, so Thanos was 90% chin and I couldn't stop thinking about the wide putin meme
He tried to kill our boy! 😦
Miata is always the answer, a swapped miata is definitely the answer
i used to be a mazda tech, not a single car from that brand is an answer, like that engine too, popping spark plugs like a triton
@@retrocompaq5212 have u ever worked on the fiat 124?
@retrocompaq5212 I have a 21 CX-9, 04 miata, 94 RX-7, and only the CX-9 is comfortable and reliable lol
@@will5150They're unreliable, those fiat engines don't last
That 's unfortunate. Hopefully the car will get sorted and you can give it another go! Great video!
Yes, before you review my Miata 1.6-swapped Mazda Capella, I'll have had AMPLE shakedown time and make sure the throttle works perfectly..... heh
Thank you Zach, really makes me think of that custom Mazda 3 you drove a couple years back. I was wondering if you have an itch to build another car again?
Such a great channel! 2nd half of this one is gold. Now answer my emails and come review my cars!!!
You get what you get when you drive project cars. Agreeing to drive someone else’s car means you take that risk of something extremely sketchy happening. You handled the situation really well dude. Love that you didn’t flame the guy for his throttle cable messing up when you did your pull. Lots of keyboard warriors with hate because his car fucked up, but like I said. You take that risk when you drive another persons project.
Ah, good lines on the NB, the 'Sassy' Miata. I don't like the NC as much, despite its technological improvements it just doesn't look as good as the old NA's or a classy NB like this example, which have always been pretty easy to modify and personalize with available upgrades.
The NB is slept on. Everyone wants the NA and its pop-ups but they've become expensive and scarce. The NB is overlooked because it's "the one that got rid of pop-ups" even though it's closer to the NA than the NC. The NC and ND are modern and complicated.
Dang, that was exciting. Maybe you should have more major malfunctions in review cars. Spice it up a bit😉
I’m putting the finishing touches on a swap (not a Miata) and this is a little anxiety inducing. I used an aftermarket throttle bracket and cable adapted to the stock pedal and firewall pass through. Swaps with DBW setups make a little more sense to me now.
I daily my 96 m edition j35a3 swapped Miata it’s great, when ahead and rebuilt and replaced any and all possible problems just because I’m terrified if something like this happening on the highway
Can you go into detail on what the owner had to do to fix the car? I have a j swap miata in the works
Seafoam deep creep would probably help with the stuck throttle, that's if its being stuck because of gunk and ot corrosion
K swap the world
Nah
One of the most simplistic oil changes you can ever do with the oil filter right in front
I love how the car enthusiasts from other brands are using up the extra Honda engines laying around....that will keep the engines going for a while ( if they are maintained well)....the owner should also cap off the inlet on the Power steering pump.....the pulley looks cool and adds to the front of the engine.
My rug let loose on my 96 Miata once and jammed the accelerator pedal cable in traffic. I had to go neutral, cut the motor and drift to the side to unjam it. Was NOT fun :D Nicely handled sir!
Racecars should not have carpet for this exact reason. At least no floor mats.
@@stenooo2439 was a regular Miata, poorly-designed factory mats.
Very cool car bro looks great I do like v6 👍👍
pb blaster is your or friend
lol you can have that problem with any car with a throttle cable. at least you had breaks
No such thing as a perfect car. They all, even the unmodified ones, will let you down at some point. Glad you were safe. Now maybe I can put the 3.5 out of a rear-ended Acura RL into a Miata. If the 3.2 fits it should also. Who needs power steering in something that small anyway, right?
the RL's 3.5 is way wider than the j series
Unless you mean the newer one
You forget the crazy low oilpan
The owner probably should have gone with a JDM J series engine from those places that sell them. U S spec engines are usually very worn because we drive more here in the U.S. Im not sure if the engine is USDM though but its something to consider.....all the best those engines usually last a long time with good maintenance.
Bro u gotta put the bottle in between the seats and the console 🤔
I never understood not swapping VQs into miatas
Probably would’ve been easier and maybe cheaper too swap a c32 but j series is the really sick too
tHERES A 3.7 LITER THAT MADE 305 HP IN THE ACURA TL THAT WOULD BE THE WISE CHOICE FOR THAT HONDA SOUND
Matt Maran just test drove a Miata with an LS. It seemed awesome.
1.9 tdi miata handling plus mpg and can be fast.
As someone currently with a K-series, I will say K swap the world. But sorry you had issues buddy
@ShootingCars3 you’re not Zach, please stop
Sometimes, a Miata is just an MX-5.
Lol, throttle sticking shouldn't be that scary but I understand. Next time just spit on it and keep driving. No car is perfect after getting beat on.
J32 rev higher then a j35 plus it being a Honda it can be Frankenstein
Half viper
Love my J motor have pushed it from 160k to 215k its not only a beast it's a reliable minivan engine!!!
This is just a shit build brother.
Yup. No reason a swapped car can't be reliable, people just tend to half ass stuff instead of spending the time and money to do it right, which often means making custom brackets for stuff like throttle cables to prevent things like this from happening.
I have been daily driving my K24A2 swapped Civic for over 2 years now, redlining it almost every time I drive it, and have had zero problems related to the swap. Never once did I wonder if I'm going to get where I'm going, I'd drive it across the country right now without a second thought. It's amazing what happens when you take the time to do something properly!
I6 Miata, plzzz Mazda
That's called a BMW Z3
K swap the 🌎 and also K is the way.
2000
As a reviewer of cars, I’m going to call you out in not knowing about the J32a2. That’s a special motor. In your position, you gotta know about that.
not enough driving.. boring
