    Well you inspired me this morning to try something new and yes the hot glue works great, even when the scoop handle hit my hand while turning faster than it should have been it didn't come loose. I made mine out of Mulberry that's been around the house for 58 years. Looks great.

    Hi Carl, thanks for the microwaving tip to release the hot glue. Did you use any special glue stick to get it to release so cleanly? Stay safe and well to keep the videos coming. Cheers, Tom

    • @CarlJacobson
      @CarlJacobson  3 года назад

      Thank you Tom!! It's just regular hot glue sticks you get at any craft store, but you need a heavy duty glue gun to get the glue stick really hot.

    I've never used a beading tool and am kind of a newbie. Could you have presented (change the height of the tool rest) the beading tool differently or changed the lathe speed to prevent the chip out? Just curious. Thanks for all your informative videos Carl.

    • @CarlJacobson
      @CarlJacobson  3 года назад +1

      Thank you!! The vibration is from the wood being thin, so the tool height doesn't really matter. A steady rest would be the best solution.

      @@CarlJacobson Thank you for your reply.

  • @Gotblade
    @Gotblade 3 года назад

    This is probably a dumb idea but what it the tool rest had something to absorb the vibration? Would that prevent chipping? Like a silicon coating? Probably the real answer is at the cutting edge of the tool but I wonder.

    • @CarlJacobson
      @CarlJacobson  3 года назад +1

      You don't want any vibration coming from the tool rest, and I think a coating would magnify it. I think a steady rest is the best solution.

      @@CarlJacobson Thank You for responding! I see your point. Maybe the relief angle of the cutter then? I was a machinist for 20 years. Cutoffs act like that if they aren't perfectly centered cutting off metal parts on screw machines. Basically a multy spindle lathe. But that doesn't mean I know your art ☺
