Please make one mixing tutorial on harmonies also..you do such good harmonies..and i dont even know how to do it..like panning wise and mixing wise..and theory wise.. 😑
Harder to judge not enough gain as opposed to excess db's, yes now my ears are now pricked up and listening.I stream using RE EQ android , stereo bluetoothed to a Denon stereo mode AVR and 12 inch active subwoofer . Volumes of everything determines if i can hear all speakers at any volume . All speakers have to be heard for me , is that correct ? l bought a bluetooh sound card [ not arrived yet ] as the phone sucks , now do you suggest recording streamed stuff for easier consumption ? And thanks .
I read -6 db of hearoom in the mix is great for mastering but here u kept upto -12 db of space in the mix .in that 12 db the 6 db of space for mixing with plugins and other 6 db for mastering ?
Hey liina..i thought gain staging should do before mixing..but you did it after mixing..!!! Now am confused..should we do it before or after because if we do it before then we will just mess it by doing it again..confused...confused 😂
It is a process that happens throughout the the recording (so before), whilst producing, when mixing and when mastering. So you should really be away of your output and the gains of all your channels all the time :)
@@LNADoesAudioStuff Just to be sure that I understand your reply in the right way. 1. What you are saying is that gain staging (so "playing" with track, group, master faders) is done throughout the whole process and so before recording but also after recording (= mixing and mastering). Correct ? 2. What do you mean with the second part of your reply "you should be really away (?) of your output and ...") ? English is not my native language. What do you mean with "away" ? What do you mean with that sentence ... confused :-) ?
If I already have songs made, can i go back in and adjust the volumes of each track, how? I've been recording all my tracks pretty much up right befor they clip, like an idiot i guess,i assumed they would be too low otherwise if i were to record them quieter, what's the best starting point in volume to start each track? Where should I leave master volume at? Sorry three separate questions.
Hello, Thanks for this video. I got a bit confused and maybe you can help me. at 5:27 you raise the master volume and then psuh the volume down on your groups. Was it because you are doing a tutorial and i should ignore that, or should I put my group volumes on -12 too. cheers! i saw everything! :D
Something's off, I literally followed step by step every change on every parameter and there are differences between some of your groups's outputs and mine. I have the feeling you have added/changed things inbetween or during lessons which are not shown (effects, parameters etc.). If you're doing things like that, please mention them in the future because people will end up with different results. Learned a ton from the course by the way! So huge thanks for that
It's REALLY tricky doing levels for mixing metal. Why is metal so hard? It's the hardest to play, the hardest to mix and produce, and you make the least money. I feel like this is God's way of punishing me for listening to the devil's music. 😞
Sometimes I wonder why they give you a palette that sounds like crap from the start. Instead, they send you on a wild goose egg hunt to find the sound everyone's looking for.. From a noob's perspective, the whole process is very frustrating. I almost feel like they design it this way so we buy plug-ins we probably wouldn't need if we actually understood how to work a DAW. Guh, six months in - I still sound like crap 😞
Mixing sadly takes the longes to learn. It less about techniques and more about learning active listening... this sadly takes years. Just be patient! You'll get there!
@@LNADoesAudioStuff Be thankful you're not trying to play metal. My EDM sounds.... okay? It's alright. The metal is impossible. It's just day in day out - making mixes, loading them up to hear in the car stereo, and driving around listening to my music, feeling hopeless.

Happy it helps! ☺️
Wohooo!! I can't believe it will be over soon!
Omg I knoww! Just planning some new vids and will film tomorrow 😮🤓😍
Out of tons and tons of videos... YOU KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN THINGS! Awesome tutorial in mixing!
Glad it was helpful! :D

js: volume adjustment in Reaper makes a analog/digital bridge for plugins correctly - at -18dbfs
Thank you!!!

Hey, yes always keep Master volume in 0db and use gain staging to adjust volumes in the groups and tracks :)
I am confused, changing the volume wouldn't require changing the compressor threshold too?
