      There were movies about Polish-soviet war. for me one of The most important war. in 1920s Poland singlehanded defeated soviet Union. And do not forget that Poland as A state appeared only in 1918

    my dad fought in the Cambodian and Sino- Vietnam war .
    We are Vietnamese . He is an alcoholic now due to PTSD

    My Grandad was part of the siege of Jadotville in real life. One of the Irish soldiers like. And my dad was in Lebanon

    This isn't supposed to be comprehensive but rather intresting and entertaining getting all the perspectives/technology/film styles etc
    I'm going to get a deluge of the same comments, but i tried. Oh yeah, if it stay demonotised than imma gonna remove it or something. Edit: its currently a-ok

      somoke not dope I can agree with you on that; such as the North Vietnamese "Re-education camps", persecution of many Hmong people by the Pathet Lao in Laos, and the Killing Fields in Cambodia by the Khmer Rouge. So much bloodshed occurred from the Indocina War, Laotian Civil War, Vietnam War, and Cambodian Civil War.

      Ex soviet too, several millions died from drugs, crimes, loss of jobs etc which were result of soviet collapse. Quality of life was awful.

    Best about Soviet-Afgan War - "Afghan Breakdown" 1991 (Афганский излом), not "9th Company"
    "Breakthrough" (Прорыв) - Second Chen War (1999-2000)
    I recomended "Purgatory" 1997 (Чистилище) for First Chechen War (1994-96)
    You forgot all films about Rwandan genocide 1994:
    "100 Days" (2001), "Hotel Rwanda" (2004), "Sometimes in April" (2005), "Shooting Dogs" (2005), "A Sunday in Kigali" (2006), "Shake Hands with the Devil" (2007),
    "Munyurangabo" (2007)
    And two good Israeli films - "Lebanon" (2009) and "Beaufort" (2007)

      @@_Tengri Ну так можно же предложить свой вариант фильма про Первую Чеченскую. Правда, их почти нет, а уж теперь-то и не снимут, слишком неудобная тема. Так что "Чистилище", ИМХО, весьма подходит, и при чём здесь "полное заявление про кампанию"? Это в хронометраже обычного фильма? А вот как срез событий, тем более, именно штурма Грозного - вполне.

    Approximately ~108,000,000 to ~182,000,000 people died in the wars of the 20th century, most notably being the ~40,000,000 killed in WWI and the ~85,000,000 killed in WWII.
    If only the 19th century could've been better, then the lives of nearly 200 million would be spared.

    What’s mental to me is how much war in general changed.
    At the start of the century cavalry charges were just barely clinging on for dear life and single shot rifles were just being replaced with small clipped bolt actions.
    By the end you had fighter jets breaking the sound barriers modern tanks and guns that can pump out thousands of rounds a minute.

    My mother’s father was a South Korean business man and their family lived in many countries besides Korea, including Cambods, South Africa, Morocco, Australia and many others. My mom was in Middle School when she lived in Sri Lanka, during the civil war. She told me she had to check under her car for bombs everyday, and one day her school was actually bombed. Crazy

    The footage from Michael Collins used for "The Irish War of Independence" 1919-21, depicts a scene during the Easter Rising of 1917, two years before said war.

      With respect, its one of the only movies we have that depicts the war, other than The Wind That Shakes The Barley, but that doesn't have battle scenes on the scale of the Collins movie. The Easter Rising sparked the war of independance, even if it didn't happen right away, anyway my friend Tiocfaidh ár lá

    imagine a guy at his 20 on a boer war and then watching how blitzkrieg happened 40 years later, its night and day. one war with bolt action and one war with warplane bombing out the troop and tank column. crazy how we evolve that fast just to kill someone.

    It amazes me how some of these wars are incredibly important, and yet rarely talked about. The Russo-Japanese war established Japan as a world power and set it on the path to WWII. The fallout of the Chechen Wars influence Russian politics even to this day. The 2nd Congo War is the deadliest armed conflict since WWII.

But, there are some other films about The Gallipoli War/War of the Dardanelles: "The Water diviner(2014)" "Gallipoli(2005)" "Çanakkale 1915 (2012)" "Çanakkale Yolun Sonu (2013)". Also you may include your watching list "120 (2008)" you should watch these, I am sure you will like it :)

    The scene from Micheal Collins isn't during the War of Independence, its from the 1916 Rising, so The Wind that shakes the Barley really should have been used insted.

      Yeah, the Red Chinese decided it wanted Viet-Nam and the NVA was real battle harden back in 1975-76. It was a short war as I recall it, I was in flight school at the time, studying a lot.

    1920 Bitwa warszawska (Warsaw Battle) about polish-bolshevik war in 1920. According to Edgar Vincent d'Abernon the 18th decisive battle of the world. The film in Poland has got... divergent opinions, but battle scenes are good.

    I just want to add that the film named "First they killed my father" is of the Khmer Rouge period 1975-1979 and beginning of "the Counter-offensive on the Southwestern border" by Vietnam 1979.
    The Sino-Vietnamese War should not be the film "Youth", because in this film, no word "Vietnam" - the counterpart was spoken 😉 I think it should be "Thị xã trong tầm tay" (1983).

      @@salokin3087 There's two Portuguese films you can use: "Cartas Da Guerra", "Nã ou vâ glória de mandar", "Costas Dos Murmúrios", "Inferno" and "Soldado Milhões", this last one it's about the parcipation of the Corpo Expedicionário Português (CEP) in Flandres, on WW1.

    I have a great grandfather that was at Gallipoli in ww1 he was a sniper and two other great grandparents that served in ww2 one in El Alamein and most of the north African campaign and the other in Sicily and Italy.

    Nice video overall but you made just a few mistakes. The Micheal Collins scene you used is actually of the Easter rising of 1916. You missed the Soviet polish war but I'm going to assume you just couldn't find a movie about it.
