Now that the algorithm is kicking in, i suppose i should clarfiy some stuff: Firstly: YES I MADE A MISTAKE WITH GENERATION WAR IT DIDN'T COME OUT IN 1976 Secondly: Most of the films that i would've like to include like Tobruk, sink the bismarck and the more modern Midway film i was unable to mostly cause of inability to access footage of them, both through legal and "grey" ways. Thirdly: The flag used in Fury and downfall is the German National flag because the swastika can get a video demonitised Finally: The lack of Chinese movies is mostly ideological. Since most of the fighting was between Nationalists vs Japanese, it wouldn't go over very well with the CCP to depict their former enemy as heroes.
People shouldn't care about these useless details. Point is, war is hell. It never achieves anything. Beware of those who call for war for the "greater good." History is usually told by the victors. This is becoming less true thankfully and hopefully the real truth of how bad such periods were wins out that we may not repeat it.
The Warsaw Uprising was in 1944 not in 1943. The Warsaw GHETTO Uprising against GERMANS was in 1943. P.S. Excuse me WTF is this GERMAN flag at the very end ?! Where is the real flag ?! I can't stand this historical lies .

benmcfee I completely agree. I think movies after 1998 are doing a much better job at actually portraying how shorty war is instead of romanticizing the hell out of it for feel good stories
@@chandlerjackson3412 eh, that's because you guys are only watching Hollywood movies. If you look European cinematography (including Russian) you'll see totally different picture way before 1998.
@@shhinobii I didn't say it in my initial comment, but I absolutely agree. My comment doesn't include the kind of bleak realism seen in films like _Come and See_ and _Das Boot_ (just to name a couple). European cinema (especially German and Russian) has had a take-no-prisoners approach to war films for far longer than Hollywood has. Consequently, I'd argue (and I'd bet you're of a similar opinion) that they're better war films for it.

Baummann Because Mel Gibson wanted to give overly patriotic Yanks an erection by creating his own fantasy, the real life Medic was such a brave and unique story, and then Gibson got his hands on it. From the Pacific Oceans, to mainland Asia, to Scandinavia, to the African desert, to beaches of Sicily and Southern Europe. The streets of Stalingrad, Moscow, Leningrad, to Normandy, and then Berlin. Great way of using the films to show how this truly was a world at war.
At the time when Germany attacked the Soviet Union, many warehouses with weapons fell from the bombardment and therefore had to fight with what was at hand: a board, a cobblestone, a knife and even a super Soviet red shovel)

Now that the algorithm is kicking in, i suppose i should clarfiy some stuff:
Firstly: YES I MADE A MISTAKE WITH GENERATION WAR IT DIDN'T COME OUT IN 1976
Secondly: Most of the films that i would've like to include like Tobruk, sink the bismarck and the more modern Midway film i was unable to mostly cause of inability to access footage of them, both through legal and "grey" ways.
Thirdly: The flag used in Fury and downfall is the German National flag because the swastika can get a video demonitised
Finally: The lack of Chinese movies is mostly ideological.
This is becoming less true thankfully and hopefully the real truth of how bad such periods were wins out that we may not repeat it.

benmcfee I completely agree.
@@benmcfee It's because the US media and the CIA (no, im not joking, look it up) have been spending billions on Anti Communist propaganda since the 50s/60s in hopes that it would push an image of the US being the good guy world police.

Also the British were the first to actually invent Concentration camps... The Communists? well, if you were a Nazi you were imprisoned or killed... So I'd rather have been on the east side....)

Hacksaw Ridge is typical American tripe, bloody awful film.
Interim nah but the story I very true if you do your research
Baummann Because Mel Gibson wanted to give overly patriotic Yanks an erection by creating his own fantasy, the real life Medic was such a brave and unique story, and then Gibson got his hands on it. The humour is terrible, Vince Vaughn as a Sgt was awful and they also got a Brit to play the main role, it looked like a gimmicky cheap amateur film.
@@GiraffeFeatures tbh Andrew was half brit half American though...
The movie is good, but the history is all over the place

The invasion of France must be a taboo for film makers...
Suite Française (2015) ;-)
3 hours of retreating
I'd love to see that film actually, since they had tanks that were impenetrable by Germans, and fired until they did not have more ammo, and then the Germans just ignored them.
There is some (mostly french made) but only few are focused on military event, and all tell individual stories:
- Week-end à Zuydcoote (1964) French perspective of the beach of Dunkirk
-La septième compagnie (and sequels) (1973-1977) Classic comedy about 3 dumb-coward french soldier lost in the chaos of May 1940
-Le train (1973) Civilian fleeing from northern France on a train
-Un balcon en forêt (1979) The Phoney war and begining of fall of France from the perspective of a 4 men platoon stuck in a bunker at the France-Belgian border.
-Bon voyage (2003) Love story between People fleeing the Germain invasion.
-En mai fait ce qu'il te plaît (2015) Story of a entire village fleeing Germain invasion.

Specially Battle of Kursk is well filmed because of using thousands of Red army soldiers instead of CGI.
The problem with a Kursk film is that the scale is just way too big to capture. How do you show thousands of tanks shooting at each other alongside millions of infantry, for example?

You skip so many movies, but is a great video..
If he were to put in all the WW2 movies from Valkyrie to Stern von Afrika, this video would be at least 8 hours long.
i didn't skip any
😲
Class Video 👍 thanks alot
Thanks for sharing🥰!
Hitler: “Yes! I am about to dominate Russia after I abolish Moscow-
☭ Stalin: “How ‘bout you take a step back, son”?
Hitler: After Moscow, Russia will fall
Comrade Billy Mays: But wait, there's more!
Soviet Union*
It was bad country in winter war
@@Matwiisports But this did not allow a good country to shoot cannons in Leningrad after a short time.
Comander: should we pack winter clothes the think on Greece took way to long
Hitler: oh heil no
Stalin: operation sit down and watch the germans freeze starts
Letters from Iwo Jima should be in there as well. I think that should be placed before Unbroken
Letters from Iwo Jima and Flags of Our Fathers are planned twin films telling the same story from the opposite point of view.
Letters from Iwo Jima was a really interesting film, while Flags of our Fathers was decent I'd argue it definitely wasn't the best one of the two.
8:37 one of the greatests films of all time
Private Ryan is an underrated movie.
Solomon Eagleson No it has gotten so much love everyone knows and loves it
Yeah
Yea
@@mentalmans_6561I should be top 50 but it’s top 150 :(
Now you can show the cold war timeline with movies 😊
If Russia made films with reviews like Apocalypse Now or Watchmen it would be a good fight
7:33 Generation War movie made in 1976?
With that kind of quality?
are you sure?
It was made in 2013
@@CultEXO then what's that supposed to mean?
@@leonmcaffrey4625 Higher quality.
He probably confused the date.
11:14-12:01 Why did you use the Imperial German flag from WW1?
Because if he use Germany WW2 flag his video will be blocked
@@faiqatovo8500 Nothing would be bad if he used the WW2 Nazi flag. The Nazi flag is used in many historical movies or documentaries and they are still not banned. Plus the flag is NOT going to be banned if it's used for historical purposes. It will only be banned if it's used for stupid and dumb reasons, like representing the power of Hitler and nationalism or fascism.
@@pajchoking8388 Yeah that's right but Germany used imperial German flag in 1933 till 1937 , in 1937 Germany made WW2 German flag
Don't you need to buy the permission for using THAT flag?
Leon Dojcinovski it’s a youtube thing they don’t want anyone showing any sign of hate even if it is for historical videos
Whos here after watching a good WWII Movie and trying to find more?
A BIG THANK YOU from your Comrade!
