***** We in The Legion of Doom have the same problem. We sing to the Heavens the praises of a whole mess of Coolness. But when we take out one steaming pile of >FITB< we're told we "hate everything." And if one of these iggits is in earshot of us calling something GREATNESS, they act like it's a rare occurrence. Seriously dude, we DON'T hate EVERYTHING.... ...just the steaming pile YOU like. Carry on.
I found Vintage Grune the Destroyer figure for $8.00. Paint really worn. I want to repaint it to close to normal colors. Still works. It be my first restoration for painting a figure. I enjoy fixing o-rings GI Joe figure.
I just got an LJN Grune the Destroyer figure at a comic con for $25 dollars, but he's near mint and has his spiked mace. Just missing his spiked knuckles accessory. He's one of the best figures in the line.
You're welcome, Jason. Thanks for the note. I will always be honest with my viewers, as you have probably seen, so I confess it is true that I really dig these redone WilyTwin figures as toys. - Michael
Gi-Joe didn't really kill any toy lines. LJN were their own worst enemy, and since the He-Man creators went the route of the She-Ra cartoon, that helped to ruin MOTU, along with the Real Ghostbusters line and TMNT line that came out soon after.
I'd like to give a little love to the Ma-Mutt figure they did for the Companions line. He looked amazing. Honestly, there's an argument that he's the best sculpted toy in all of Thundercats.
What's funny these days is that things that should be pack-ins these days are either sold by themselves or are even the prize you get at the end of the wave. In the 6 inch Marvel Legends line, the comic book Rocket Raccoon was a build-a-figure that you had to buy about 4 figures to get him, and he was sold at the full $16-17 price in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie wave.
That backfired in 2009 with the "Build the Enterprise Bridge" gimmick in the Star Trek line. Whoops -- sales are bad so we canceled the rest. No complete bridge for ANYONE!
The clip of the cartoon in this video reminded me that I used to think that their pointed fingers always looked weird to me. Not really claws, just pointed fingers. Of course the action figures don't appear to have that detail.
I love watching you guys.U r mint in box! Anyway would you please do an in depth Thundecats toy line episode because despite the fact toy master doesn't really like it there were some " interesting " and bizarre toys included during the cartoons run.cheers UK.
I'm the odd man out, here. I always loved Snarf, and I was disappointed with the lack of an action figure. I had a Snarf straw-holder from either BK or McD to take the place in my toy line. But, as many others are saying, but the time the Snarf actual figure was released, I had moved on to GI Joe.
I think Snarf gets a raw deal. He once took on Mumm-Ra to save the other Thundercats with nothing but a few animals! As for Tally Hawk, he and a mob counterpart whose name I can't remember both had large "role-play" sized toys in the original line.
Ah, the robo bears. Robot teddy bears that farm candy. I guess this was one of those "well everyone in the room said it was good" kind of things. I thought they were cute at least
Wow, I never realized there were two different Wily Twins figures! I always learn something new from you guys( also, you got us fooled by that behind the scenes sneak peek) OK, now that just leaves us with Transformers and Silverhawks for Michael to say something positive about! ;)
I wasn't calling you a hipster, but making fun of hipsters. Also, the point of the "sigh" was that it is not a (as you said it) prerequisite for being an 80s fan. The purpose of my comment was just to poke fun at hipster children who like to think they are fans of a different time, just for the sake of liking something that isn't culturally relevant to their age group.
RipleyGrimes It's called Fauxstalgia - A longing for a time they have ZERO connection to. Like twentysomethings "longing" for the 60s. Or kids today getting all misty eyed for the 80s. BAH!
Wouldn't it be great to track down a figure designer from a major line and complete an interview to the companies/design teams mindset of the time, I wonder whether it's possible to reach out to those people. Always enjoyed, Cheers, Fuzz.
Yes was always disappointed with Lion-O's sculpt. I got the Wilykit and Wilykat pack ins which like you say were awful. By the time the Conpanions came round I think I moved on to GI Joe and other stuff.
Jumping jehosophat this was a great vid. I hated battle action takes away from the imagination. I noticed a sectaurs comic. One of my fav 80's cartoon can you do a video on sectaurs please
thanks John! We want to do a Sectaurs vid for sure but we need a few more toys first -- and they're not easy to find complete and unbroken. but rest assured, we are working on it.
Weird cause they weren't very popular when I watched them. I never had an official action figure. I just liked the comic and (very short lived) cartoon series. I wanted a figure but too expensive.
I always hated how rare female figures were. I remember asking an employee at Children's Palace why they never had the Catwoman figure from Batman Returns and he told me it's because female figures weren't popular so they only pack one in a crate. Rogue from Xmen was also a pain to find.
I'd hate to say this but, you looked a little insane during that shoot, you had this "stabby stab stab" look in your eyes at moments during this. Maybe I'm just not use to seeing you enthusiastic about Thundercats. It's pretty funny. I noticed that of all the big old figures, it looks like one of the bad guys might have received the best treatment sculpting wise. Thundercats figures look oddly smooth and oily for their scale, it reminds me a little bit of the TMNT line. However, that lizardman (his name escapes me) looks like he has some decent detailing, He actually has texture, which really sticks out like a sore thumb, or maybe a well polished thumb on a hand full of sore fingers.
Yes, Slythe is an impressive figure as far as detail. As to my insane look -- I dunno. It might have been because this video had only snippets of on camera work so rather than having time to say something lengthy I was just saying a sentence here and there so I didn't have time to get into a tone.
I think anybody who dares to put themselves out there eventually has that moment where if someone froze the shot they'd either look dumb or crazy so I wouldn't sweat it too much.
***** well bubba I'm not worried considering I liked Silver hawks more. Just curious you guys ever consider a Tigersharks video to finish the trifecta?
Well first off, I said some nice things about the Silverhawks -- great design concept, great premise just poorly executed, beautiful toys (if lacking in function). As for Tigersharks -- oh how those haunt me. There's no easy way to watch the series and even less chance of owning the figures...so expensive.
***** Oh I know very well what youve said about the Hawk. I frequently watch your videos even though I've seen them and the Hawks are a favorite. I awiways crack up when Mike appears as an escaped Nazi scientist. As for the Sharks I remember the series briefly but didnt know about the toyline. Actually Mike this has me wondering knowing what you know about toys and their inner workings have you ever 'toyed' (no pun intended ) with redesigned a line? If so what? I dont meant seriously just goofing around not seriously though.
The Silverhawks would be up there on my list. Give them masks and better articulation. I'd redesign the Ghostbusters proton packs accessories. I'd redesign the arms of the Super Powers line. I'd give all Kenner Star Wars figures a usable left hand...
I never liked action figures when I was a kid I just bought Hot Wheels then I moved on to Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards. now I but anime figures but I don't know action figures always seemed a little cheesy to me I love 80's cartoons but the action figures just look off and it bugs me.
Great video! Always enjoy the 80s cartoon history lessons! Keep them coming!
Woo-hoo! Always love the new episodes!! I remember ThunderCats. They were alright... But they sure filled up a box fast.
Terrific video. I love Thundercats. Great cartoon. Awesome figures.
Great job as always, M&M.
Thanks man!
You guys deserve over 2 million subscribers you guys are awesome keep up the good work
Thanks Kadin!!! Spread the word!
:) i will
love LOVE the caveat at the beginning. "Michael is saying something positive"
Ha! I say positive things quite often but no one seems to hear them.

i had the willykat pack in figure, and used to just pretend that the base he was on was the space board.
We might have done that as well as kids. Makes total sense.
I found Vintage Grune the Destroyer figure for $8.00. Paint really worn. I want to repaint it to close to normal colors. Still works. It be my first restoration for painting a figure. I enjoy fixing o-rings GI Joe figure.

Still have mine from when they first came out.
Simply put:
I am a big Thundercats fan.
I am a big Retroblasting fan.
Thanks for the peace offering Michael.
You're welcome, Jason. Thanks for the note. I will always be honest with my viewers, as you have probably seen, so I confess it is true that I really dig these redone WilyTwin figures as toys. - Michael
GIJoe killed so many toy lines. What a juggernaut. I stopped He-Man and Star Wars for GIJoe.
Transformers and GI Joe were the indisputable powerhouses of the 1980s.
True - I stopped collecting Thundercats for GI Joe.
Gi-Joe didn't really kill any toy lines. LJN were their own worst enemy, and since the He-Man creators went the route of the She-Ra cartoon, that helped to ruin MOTU, along with the Real Ghostbusters line and TMNT line that came out soon after.
Cheetara was Hotttt :-)
I'd like to give a little love to the Ma-Mutt figure they did for the Companions line. He looked amazing. Honestly, there's an argument that he's the best sculpted toy in all of Thundercats.
I've seen him on occasion. I will check it out.

***** I remember that! We only ended up with like 6 pieces or something! Is playmates good at anything but messing up?
Who would have thought Wilykit and Kat would go on to make Grime music and develop London accents. Crazy world I 'tells yah!
Your comment made me think of Mungojerry and Rumpleteazer. LOL
The clip of the cartoon in this video reminded me that I used to think that their pointed fingers always looked weird to me. Not really claws, just pointed fingers. Of course the action figures don't appear to have that detail.
Wily kat and Wilykit were my favorite characters along with Cheetara and Tygra
YAAAAAAAA!!!!

Awesome job RB! Melinda didn't paint her nails and I ♡ her for it...
I think Snarf gets a raw deal. He once took on Mumm-Ra to save the other Thundercats with nothing but a few animals!
As for Tally Hawk, he and a mob counterpart whose name I can't remember both had large "role-play" sized toys in the original line.
Snarf had his moments, but he was always written as whiny and annoying. He was the prototype to Jar-Jar Binks.
Mon*Star's spy'bird' (bat) was called Skyshadow.
Yeah, that's the name I couldn't remember. Hardware created it to counter Tally Hawk.
Correct!
Ah, the robo bears. Robot teddy bears that farm candy. I guess this was one of those "well everyone in the room said it was good" kind of things. I thought they were cute at least
Lots of cocaine in the 80s...
Small doesn't always mean terrible...
I just bought them
Thundercats hooooooooo!!!!!!
Hey guys, what happened to the original thundecats video? It’s one of my favorite videos of yours.
Hey Michael have you heard that Mattycollector is going to release a Thundercats line?
i am curious if you saw the 2011 cartoon and your thought about it.
I need to see it for sure.
***** its a pity they cancelled it.
Wow, I never realized there were two different Wily Twins figures! I always learn something new from you guys( also, you got us fooled by that behind the scenes sneak peek)
OK, now that just leaves us with Transformers and Silverhawks for Michael to say something positive about! ;)
haha!
Any love for Thundercats 2011? If that series continued, who knows if we'll ever get that super thunder tank.
Haven't seen it. Not opposed to watching it though.
***** Say are you working on anything now?
Yes. Working on a Voltron video, an Indiana Jones feature video and a few restorations for this month. Will be posting new videos soon!
***** you just put a smile on my face every time you respond to me a mere nobody. Thank you so much.
You're not a nobody, my friend. And I'm nothing special. :)
Did Pum-mira, Bengali, Lynko, and the Lunatacs never got figures ?
They did. There was also a figure of Jaga (living not Ghost spirit)
Saw these on the pegs but never could get into em because GI Joe had them beat 😁
#100%enjoyedvideo toy god hooooooo
Hipster kids these days.
"Everything nowadays suxz!!! I'm a hardcore 80s fan because I like Thundercats!!!!!"
*sigh*

that's very deep. kudos!
I have retracted my questions. I should have seen the quote marks on your comment. I'm at an airport, my phone is erratic. Ugh...
No problem.
Btw, just followed you guys on Instagram lol

Yes was always disappointed with Lion-O's sculpt. I got the Wilykit and Wilykat pack ins which like you say were awful. By the time the Conpanions came round I think I moved on to GI Joe and other stuff.
I just saw the two wiley twin "pack in's" this past weekend at a flea market in the bargin bin & also thought they were game pieces...
yep...

I didn't know that they actually made good figure for the wikkit and wilykat

The only two figures that i don t have is Mum-Ra and Cheetara
My God Mike had something positive to say about Thundercats?!?! Did Hell offical freeze over and no one told us? LOL
In my futile attempt to prove I make objective arguments, this is my one peace offering to the Thundercats fanbase.

You come off smug AF
LGN sucks both in toys and games
