I own 5 Buckshot bone knives from RR! Excellent....
Great series of knives LTC. Thanks for watching.
RR is a great quality folder for the price…JP sent me over. Great video, TK 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for stopping in. Jolly has a great channel.
The buckshot Barlow is Def on the hitlist 💥💥👍👍- great vid
That's a mighty fine choice, Chad. Thanks so much for watching.
The congress pattern is by far my favorite. Thanks for the review.
Glad I could provide a favorite of yours, Cat. It's one that goes under the radar.
I live this series. I want to get them all. I wish they did a canoe in this series as well.
There's a bunch of them.
They made a canoe in 2015, RR1542. You see them sometimes on eBay. My fave in the series is the teardrop jack. Love that pattern.
@@skcamerican thanks! I will keep an eye out for it.
I have camillus congress from the 90’s that has 2 pen blades and 2 sheepsfoot blades and one of the sheepsfoot blades has a serrated edge that I got at a antique store in new condition and I really like it for whittling and for edc tasks.
Camillus made some great knives, and many under different brand names, Buck included. Thanks Savage.
Thank you, a great review of this sound looking knife, I do like the Congress pattern although I only have one in my collection at the minute; the RR Red Worm Groove Congress, after watching your video I did a quick check on Hennie Haynes’s site, but unfortunately not there.
Cheers TK
Take care
Sam
Ps not too sure if you have had any notification, but I put a few extra comments/ updates on a couple of your older videos this morning, just for your information that I had bought the knives shown in those videos and I was very pleased with them, thanks again.
I'll see if I can find them. Thanks Sam. The worm groom series is one that gets often overlooked. Nice looking knives.
Buckshot bone is a nice texture, red underliners look really good.
Pretty interesting way to do bone, I think.
Great looking knife! I've always liked the Buckshot bone pattern!!
The buckshot is a pretty nice take on a way to do bone handles. Thanks for watching Mike.
I own only 3 , so I don't mind the RT, yet. Buckshot bone scales look nice. From the pictures, I though it would be 4 inches long at least. Thanks TK!
RR does also make a larger scale congress, Thanks DD.
Good looking traditional knife.
The Buckshot Bone makes for a nice looking handle. Much appreciated Rusty.
Like the Congress pattern, but not so much the small ones , larger ones not as many to find, just like the toothpicks . Love that buckshot pattern thogh. Thanks for the video
Interesting, thanks for feedback Doug. Glad you enjoyed it.
I like the c.c shield on a 440 knife. Makes it special...
Interesting review.
Thanks.
I like that, special. Thanks Rick.
Pretty knife. I have a few congresses - not crazy about the pattern, but this one keeps the wad of blades in the center pretty low, which is nice. I think a left-handed whittler would enjoy a congress, but I’m a righty, and prefer one bigger blade and maybe a secondary or two. Do like the Buckshot bone series. I think it must be a top seller as there are something like 19 patterns out there. And if you run out of RR buckshots to collect, you can start on the Colt buckshots. Thanks for the review!
Yea that's right they were a Colt series first. Good luck to anyone trying to piece that together.
Thanks TK! This is one pattern that I do not have and I need to get one.
It doesn't seem to get much attention. Partly why I bought it. Thanks KD.
I like that you bought a knife to fit your slip!
Not much would fit it. This one does quite well. Thanks Stephen.
@@ThriftyKaniffy There's a trick to leather. It can stretch a lot when it's damp. I learned this when I bought a police style sheath for my Buck 110 on Etsy. The sheath came completely flat. No way to get the knife into it. The seller sent instructions on how to moisten the leather with water, then when it softens, push it out with your finger until the knife just barely fits. Then you heat up the oven a little and turn it off so it's just barely warm. You put the knife in the sheath and in the oven for a few hours until it completely dries out. The leather will dry in a form fit for the knife. That's how they make pistol holsters.
@@StephenWorth I'll give it shot. I've used various oils to pretty good results on previous slips. These type are just smaller.
@@ThriftyKaniffy Oil does something different. That will loosen up leather and make it softer. I use mink oil for that. Water makes it stretch and then harden and hold its shape.
@@StephenWorth Gotcha. I'll give it a try and see I can squeeze something bigger in another of the same three slips I have.
I was on eBay poking around, and ran across this RR buckshot congress knife. So being curious I took a really close look and observed that the blade tang stamps had different spellings : Rough Rider & Rough Ryder. With the shield having that cc on the knife sporting ss blades, I suspect this offering had been cobbled together using extra parts to make a knife. Although it looks nice, it's still seems a bit Frankenstein- y if you look close. 😁
Yep it has some oddball things going on with it. Still an attractive knife. Thanks, Eliel.
One of my most useful fifth-pocket knives is an Old Timer Workmate. It is technically a 4-bladed stockman, rather than a Congress. Each blade is different, providing more working options than a traditional Congress. With easy access to sharpening implements today, it seems to me that the traditional Congress pattern is not as useful as it once was to most people, similar to the Muskrat. Otherwise, a beautiful knife!
There's some traditional patterns that just don't get a lot of attention anymore, this would be one of them. Thanks Dave.
Great review! Was looking around on Smokey mountain and this caught my eye as well! But so did the RR black titanium Congress couldn't decide but at $15 a piece I got both never owned a Congress but I like stockman's so we'll see when they arrive I like having blade choices! Thanks
Thanks for the great feedback Stephen. Always good to know what people are buying. Thanks for watching.
I enjoyed the review and own three other RR knives.... but your RT comment, while humorous, made me wonder what the RT stands for? Maybe I just need to think harder and I will figure it out
I don't have any hard evidence to support this, but I always assumed the "T" shaped thing you see below the R to be a top down profile of a branding iron, like that used on cattle. RR did a helluva lot of branding, so it makes perfect sense to me. Thanks Al.
I’ve always liked the buckshot bone covers from RR. I think they look pretty cool! Thanks for showing this one, my friend!
It's a cool series and this one I think looks pretty good as Congress go.
This is one of those knives worthy of collection despite the you know what X 2.
That's correct. I approve this message. Thanks Hope.
What a beauty, eh!❤
Buckshot! I dig the covers. Thanks, Pat.
Never been a fan of the Congress pattern but that is a nice looking knife! Love the buckshot pattern and the swege on the blades. RR would be far more attractive to me generally without the RR on the bolsters. Makes it look too much like an 8 year-old kid's knife.
I think we all carved our initials into something we cherished as kids. Thanks John.
I like the congress pattern, but double R bolsters? And no double nail nicks? Jeez Rough Ryder. Your 'RT' comment was 🤣🤣!
Oh yea, 2 for 1. Gimme some.
You could do some real work with that Congress .............unlike the one in Washington.
Great Video. Peace , Be Free.
Thanks Micheal. 4 blades of fun.
I like the Buckshot Bone series and have 15 different patterns in it. Thanks for sowing the slip & it is now in my wish list cart. Thanks for sharing TK.
It should be a good fit, but they all seem a little different. There's techniques to stretch the leather if required. Thanks B WAX.
Where did the Congress knife get its name?😊
I'll be discussing that in an upcoming video, James.
I’ve never owned a congress, but not intentionally, it’s just never happened. I should correct that!!
That was my sentiment when I bought this. Thanks for tuning in SS.
My wife says buck shot bone is ‘disgusting’! 😮
Tell her this filthy animal says , "Hi". Thanks, Matthew
My thought on the cc on the shield is that it stands for cutlery company. It probably doesn’t but that’s my first thought
The shields first appeared in the Classic Carbon Series so I'm pretty sure it was intended to stand for Classic Carbon. Of course if you asked SMKW they'd probably agree with you as a way of providing revisionist history. ruclips.net/video/E0URVQbW1ag/видео.html Thanks Savage.
Like the Buckshot Bone but not a knife I would buy. Don't think I have seen big R on two sides before, two reasons not to buy as far as I am concerned.
Double your pleasure, double your fun, two RT's for the price of one.
@@ThriftyKaniffy I have one knife with the big R and that is me done, glad to see they are slowly dropping them. 😎
Is it real bone?
Yes, real bone. Ribbon. Thanks!
