  • Welcome to the latest episode of Big Trip!Today I am at Cardiff Central on the South Wales Main Line where services are seen by Transport for Wales, Great Western Railway and CrossCountry.
    Cardiff Central was busy as expected with local trains flying around left, right and centre as well as the semi local and express routes popping in at frequent intervals. I'm amazed at how much this station hasn't changed in terms of design and but certainly has changed with some services and liveries too! The views are fantastic going towards Canton and nice curves going out towards Queen Street/Newport. This station is always fantastic to visit, I love it here as there's always something different and today was no exception. Highly recommended and for me, the best station in Wales!

    Great video Kieran!! Cardiff Central is like the Clapham Junction of Wales and as @Jack Shiels said it is the home of squeaky boiz. And also I noticed that Cardiff is the exact same as Glasgow because it is a Cardiff Central and Cardiff Queen Street and Glasgow has Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen Street.

    8:32 - 9:06 you can tell that the 150245 is not refurbished because of the destination plate but the 241 and 259 have more updated plates

    Question for you all.
    Before now when was the last time the class 37 locos were run on the rhymney line and why was they stopped?

    • @johnparker6051
      @johnparker6051 3 года назад

      They are still running now I believe, they are only being used as a backup though if my understanding is correct. They were stopped due to the transition to the new trains in the second quarter of last year.
