Neither one of the songs used was created in the 80's, the 80's song was called "Turtle power" 2012 and Rise have completely different themes songs, albiet 2012 pays homage.
As someone who never truly got into TMNT until Rise, I must say that this combo takes the cake!! Both sets of lyrics mix with each other so well in this, and the vocals/composition is pure perfection! This right here is what I call true ear candy! I've been seeing a lot of mashup remixes of specifically these 2 themes. I think it leaves the door open by utilizing the main chorus of the original classic theme but in that new less goofy way which makes it easy to transition between the two. They're both also definitively good. I would argue with bot songs being perfect source material, if I were to vote this the official mashup of the 2 songs the way it's structured, I'd go as far as to even say it should be THE definitive TMNT theme song. Like I could see any new incarnation or movie or game using this song in this exact format, whether it's remixed from here out or covered or what have you. These 2 themes just balance each other out so well and also make the song feel "full" like a full length song.
This is truly something special for us turtle fans. It's a blessing for our ears haha! I love this! But if I had to make a suggestion, I'd say you should do a TMNT 2003 X TMNT 2012 mashup as well.

I love this so dang much! While Rise is my favorite iteration, I enjoy 2012 a lot & both have good theme songs. I've got a TV theme song playlist that I listen to sometimes while I'm out doing stuff & I have the 2012 & Rise themes right next to one another so I'm use to hearing one after the other but having them mixed together like this, YES! I know the extended version of the Rise theme real well because it's one I often hit repeat on, quite a few times actually, so I was able to sing along to those parts. I'm happy it's the 2012 character intros here because that's a bit where Rise does fall short. Not dissing on their character intros, just saying it's too fast & to the point & since this uses parts from the extended Rise theme, we get the "Mikey, Donnie, Raph, & Leo puttin' bad dudes to shame, four dudes from the ooze throwin' down! Cowabunga!" So we still my personal favorite part of the Rise theme & it does call out those specific turtles. Basically bringing in the best parts of both theme songs, my complaint is that Rise is too snappy for their character intros with, "Raph is ready for a fight, Leo is making a scene, Mikey's got mad skills, & Donnie rocks machines," so that can easily get replaced by the better intros from 2012 which is exactly what happened. This combo of the themes is absolute perfection & I love it, I can probably listen to this on repeat for hours & might do that if I'm not careful.

just listen to the 87 theme song and speed it up a little, then you will understand that they are all the same base, with very diff. element thrown in to make them their own, except for 2003, that one is totally diff.
I grew up with TMNT 2012 and adored ROTTMNT (2018). Seeing it get another iteration when I was older and more mature after 2k12 was awesome. Always will love TMNT no matter the iteration or year. (Donnie is my favorite >:3c)
