Twilight Zone" is a 1982 hit from the Dutch group Golden Earing. It was written by band guitarist George Kooymans, who was inspired by Robert Ludlum's book, The Bourne Identity. “Twilight Zone” appears on their 1982 Cut album and pays homage to the 1960s television series The Twilight Zone. He spent over six months (27 weeks) on the US pop charts. It was the band's only Top 10 Pop single on the US Billboard Hot 100 (the song reached No. 16 on the CashboxChart) and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Album Tracks chart, the band's only hit in America. The lead vocals are split between Kooymans and Barry Hay. Everyone sings the lead for half of the first verse (first Kooymans, then Hay), and Hay sings lead for the second verse with Kooymans backing and provides the spoken lines in the introduction and first verse. Kooymans sings lead on the backing vocals, supported by Hay. The clip, directed by Dick Maas, features a screenplay with singer Barry Hay as a spy agent who is apprehended by three henchmen (played by the other band members). The clip was one of the first to feature a cinematic script and dance choreography and was a hit on the brand new MTV network, helping the song become the group's second international hit. The gold earring followed the success with an extended tour of the United States, Canada and Europe. MTV commissioned the group to shoot a film of the final "Coming Home" concert of the tour in the Netherlands. The concert film, also directed by Dick Maas, included a brief introductory segment that was an extension of the Twilight Zone video. The concert was released in 1984 as Live from The Twilight Zone with a concert album titled Something Heavy Going Down: Live From The Twilight Zone, it aired on MTV and was released as a video on VHS, Beta and Laserdisc. To date, this concert is considered one of the best live shows of the group. The cut album cover image of the bullet shredded Diamond Jack playing card is used in the video and depicts the life of the rogue agent. The original version of the "Twilight Zone" video was censored by MTV because of a shot of a topless woman "hitman" in a hotel room and injection with a syringe at the end of the dance sequence.

Such a creative video, from back in the golden age, so glad I lived through it!
Is a classic goat jam...a must in your 80's greatest hits list.
My 2 favorite songs from Golden Earring were Twilight Zone and Radar Love ❤️. I LOVED the 1970s 80s rock and roll 🎵

Just an old mother f**ker that likes songs from the 70's, 80's and 90's. Rock on bitches and dudes

Golden Earring was once the number one band on the continent of Europe and the Scorpions came in second!
