Ive also got stills of our trips to EL in the late sixties and early 70s.My mother was a border girl and finished her matric at Claredon Girls High. My father was a civil engineer who worked for the railways,posted to EL to pay off his student loan having been a pilot during the 2nd world war. Determined man that he was he swept mom off her feet and married her. Mom on her wedding day had her pictures taken on the steps of the Anne Bryant Art Gallery. Oh I almost forgot. My first flight was on board a Vickers Viscount from EL to Jhb. It held 36 passengers and there were seats still avalable. We had to go through a gate where the cabin crew checked our tickets and then they let us board the plane!!!!
Im a bit of a humourist but don't like to offend anybody. Having figured out the marriage union between my mom and dad , it now makes sense as to the move to Johburg. Dad promised mother that every school holiday mom and us children would be taken to EL!! Whichever way he could! After 30 years later and at the age of 64 at the time I came home. Border is my country. Wanna talk ancestors? Mamma is my ancestor. Got a house in Kei Mouth. Having spoken to the guys on the flight deck. The emergency landing strip is on the bordet of Kei Mouth and Morgan bay. Just off the Komga wind farm.
