I was a literature student and discussed all the great characters as if they were real. Then I asked myself why I brought skeptism to the Bible = so I did the same as I did with literature. It worked. I converted to Catholicism 20 years ago. With all due respect to Jordan Peterson, intellectual analysis kinda gets in the way, It is a little like marriage - just say I do, do not dissect it into a million pieces. Read St. Therese of Liseaux she is very simple,

      true.
But a slight correction, God doesn't need to "find" us either , He is all seeing, all knowing.
We can't "find" God (named Allah in arabic).
We can know him though. That's why He sent his Messengers and prophets, who told mankind about Him and His wishes and commandments.
("Him" for God doesn't make Him a male, just like Titanic (the ship) is not a female in anyway)

This may be a good way to farm likes off other believers. But it's 100% useless, for a non-believer who sincerely DOES want to "find god".
What is the actual, specific advice, here? What's the non-believer meant to do, exactly? Just sit, wait, and do nothing, because "God finds you"?

I hear so many tears in your words here, Jordan. I really want God to hug you. I love you, in Christ.
Remember to live, I don’t want you to die, just like I didn’t want my son or Jesus to die, or Nabeel Karesh.
Do you know who even died and I didn’t want him to? It was the priest who did not speak, but he died from a fan, a fan he plugged in.
He was a man of great words and wisdom but had lived a debauched life before becoming a person who did not speak, but he wrote. Thomas Merton.
Take a pause Doctor Peterson and get a God hug.

'The Intellectual Life' by A.G. Sertillanges said seek truth, speak truth and you will find ‘god’. The word ‘god’ in small caps meant you will find your inner-self if you are adhere to truth in what you say to others. Doing so, helps locate one’s center and gives one feeling of empowerment when seeking truth without attacking others. It is how we connect our inner sense of what is right to others and our physical world. Truth of ourselves, of others and of physical aspects of things forces all to align with our inner sense of being. Sertillanges' book is highly recommended.

Keep at it, Peterson. But as for the dark picture of Cain: why would Cain reveal his visitation by the Lord? What is the significance of his naming Enoch, and calling his city after him? Is there relation to the Enoch of Jared? Why did those men then begin to call upon the Name of the Lord?
The discovery of relation is largely a function of division, it is a rigorous process.
What is the approach to the philosophical solution of the mystery of the Light?

    "How Does One Find God?"
By following what God's Word says - which BOTH Dr. Peterson and Bishop Barron reject. So why are they being treated as authorities to speak on this topic?
Why is it he never has on a born again, regenerate as the Bible describes, Christian to address this topic? Why is that?
We find God ONLY through Jesus Christ, and in the manner which He has set forth.
    John 14:6
    (Speaking to Thomas)
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
    John 3:16-18
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

I relate to the words of the now deceased Andy Rooney.
“We all ought to understand we're on our own.
Kids believing in Santa Claus is ok for a few years.
But it isn't smart for people to continue waiting all their lives for Santa to come down the chimney with something wonderful.
Santa Claus and God are cousins.
Christians talk as though goodness was their idea but good behavior doesn't have any religious origin.
Our prisons are filled with the devout.
I'd be more willing to accept religion, even if I didn't believe it, if I thought it made people nicer to each other but I don't think it does.”
    Sincerely, Andy Rooney, 1999

Start out with the mystical position, then examine why we differentiate subject from object. If you found what unites them, question the meaning of words. What do people mean, when they say things like that you can come to God. Examine their actions. One day you will find yourself laughing about the politics of religion. Only who finds love in them self knows all.

You close your eyes, focus on your breath and promise to stay in a neutral state (neither a high state nor a low state), and promise not to say or visualize anything for 10 minutes.
In a few minutes random dialogue and visuals of old memories and bursts of odd emotion of discomfort, anxiety, arousal etc will bubble up. That's ok because YOU made the promise that YOU wouldn't do it, so right now you know it's just the mind flushing out all that extra "gunk" or "data". Just sit back and watch the flow of thoughts and emotions like a psychologist studying a patient. And after a while, all will go silent. Just a calm lake. A clear bottomless ocean. And when that happens, you'll find your truth. You'll have found God.

As far as light could stretch In remembrance but more the physical, the action within a person to move and so as Jesus Christ said like in the Matthew 5.
For children to hear and be desiring to try is a gift.
For example the new Ghost buster movie of the embodiment of spirit to reprimand the mind to action.
Something like that if one needs understanding.
But more then that like the titzit and rosary, the heart to draw light in life.
Praise and thanks is a daily uptake 💙
    - "As far as light could stretch" might symbolize the extent of God's guidance and wisdom (Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path").
    - "The action within a person to move" could be related to Jesus' teachings in Matthew 5, where He emphasizes the importance of putting faith into practice (Matthew 5:16, "Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven").
    - "Children to hear and be desiring to try is a gift" echoes Jesus' words in Matthew 18:3, "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."
    - The Ghostbusters movie example might illustrate how our minds can be prompted to take action, just like the characters embodying spirits to reprimand and guide.
    - "Titzit" (fringes on a garment) and "rosary" (prayer beads) serve as reminders to focus on God and draw light into life (Numbers 15:37-41, Matthew 6:5-13).
    - "Praise and thanks is a daily uptake" reflects a heart attitude of gratitude and worship (Psalm 100:4-5, "Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him and bless his name!")

What is created never makes the creator directly visible, as a carpenter is not directly visible in the chair he made. But the existense of a chair indirectly indicates a carpenter. Observable evidence for a Creator or Generator behind the Universe cannot ever exist, because if we got such a thing, it would disprove what it tried to prove. It would be similar as saying that the carpener IS the chair that he made. The demand for such kind observable evidence is a self-reference problem, and can therefore never be resolved. Proof of a Creator is not accessible with obervation, because a generator is always different from the generated: So when the generated is the obserable, then hence the generator is unobservable. And additionally; an object cannot create itself, because then it would already have existed when it was created. So therefore the Reality and its objects has a Creator.

I am left adrift by design.
Intentionally placed here in the dark, a fervent example of why humanity must find God.
With me, thou shalt find no comfort.
I am eternally lost here, alone, with the specific purpose that you may find your way to the light of the Lord.
I exist solely to point out clearly the way to the path on which thou must walk.

How to find God? Be moved by the face of another and its need. Even the great Jewish philosopher Emmanuel Levinas teaches us this. Newman was right. "Give alms," is precisely how you encounter Christ in the world. Jesus told us this Himself in no uncertain terms. (Matthew 25:35-40)

A person cannot find God. The Bible says that The Lord God found us. We are dead spiritually before The Lord brings us to life. Dead people cannot do anything, they are dead. The Bible also says that He came down to Earth to rescue us in the shape of his son Jesus Christ. We have to be born again through Christ. It was always a work that only The Lord can do.

First one must ask why, then get to know there are more than 7200 active faiths in different gods, most of them believe in theirs and are atheists to the others.
Now that you know, the why is that we need something more so we can reflect ourselves in that and always have something to strive for, to become better.
So you can follow Spider Man or Odin, both are excellent examples to follow not their path but yours, to become a great person like them.
There's no god, no supernatural, and in addition to your own father, you need a figure that you know is great and you make it alive and true.
With that said, I'm an Odinist, I follow the male part of the Asatruar religion. Odin is so old of a god that he's know for over 2 hundred different names.
Also, Odin is The All Father, and it means all other religions and gods are under his wing, so I am of my religion and I can benefit from all others as well.
And please, don't be a sheep. Don't be the kind of tolerant person that accepts the intolerants that want to end with the tolerance, like the collectivists (socialists, communists).
Don't give the other face, make sure you don't have a cockroache's blood, be your best self so you can be strong for yourself, your family and your community.
That's my experience and my suggestion. Of course you do whatever you like and that works for you.

But Peterson admits (once you wade through the vague, deliberately confusing doublespeak) that he DOESN'T "believe in god", in the sense that sincere religious believers do; As an entity who LITERALLY exists.
Peterson says he believes in the SYMBOLISM of "god", and specifically, Christianity.... So not a belief in Jesus, as a LITERAL physical person, who rose bodily, but "belief in God", in the same sense that someone might "believe in Superman" or "believe in Aesops fables", as poignant, meaningful stories...but NOT as literally being true events, that actually happened, in the real world.
I like a lot of what Peterson says. But on the topic of God and religion, and especially about HIS OWN beliefs on those subjects, he's so evasive, to the point of dishonesty, that it really makes me question his integrity.
If he just said "My own religious beliefs are private. I don't want to discuss them with the public", I could respect that- He'd be perfectly within his rights to say that...
But he DOESN'T say that... Instead, he does this slimy, dishnonest thing, where he constantly, heavily IMPLIES that he believes in god, in the same LITERAL sense that 99% of people, religious or not, use the phrase... But only a few times, when interviewers have really pinned him down, and refused to let him wriggle out of it, only THEN does Peterson admit, that he's at best an agnostic, if not an outright atheist, who only really believes in the power of STORIES about the Christian god... But in terms of that God existing as a real, independent entity, at best he's open to the POSSIBILITY of that, but he lacks that ACTUAL belief.
If there's some way to interpret this behavior, that ISN'T just Peterson being dishonest, to maintain the support of a mostly-religious fanbase, I'd love to hear it... Because thats the ONLY explanation that fits how he acts, which I can think of....

I have been condemned before I die. I prey I am wrong but I have rarely met the holly ghost and all it does is set me right back to gaining nothing out of life.

If this is truly your experience and these are your feelings about it then sadly, you have not met God and the sadness you feel is because you are lost and your "sacrifices for the greater good" have been for nothing as far as your eternal soul. John 3:16 tells plainly and clearly for any and all the one and only path to eternal salvation thru Jesus Christ our Lord. I pray that you come to a saving knowledge of Christ before it's too late. You do not have to wait to see if you are saved until you die. By then it will be too late, but you can know now, here on Earth the peace that passes all understanding and know that you are His forever. If you are truly saved, the sacrifices are not a burden, but true joy and a privilege. John 3:16.

Wow, that sounds diabolic. Jesus appeared to you, tell you what to do, you did that and you regret it... So basically God is bad in your understanding, or malicious, or doesn't understand you... What could possibly go wrong with such statement?!?
Firstly are you SURE you encountered Jesus, Son of Almighty? You 100% sure? Wasn't delusion? Hypnosis? Alcohol? Drugs? Mental illness?
Second, why did you do what you believed "God" wants you to do if you could tell it will lead you to hate yourself and God? That wasn't wise move. Third, The Creator of everything that exists doesn't create bad, and doesn't spread misery... So if you are miserable, that is not God's plan with you. God could make hell of us, but observing beauty and harmony that He created with such intelligence and care we can say that God is careful and loving, and doesn't want misery and pain for anyone.
You forgot that sin is what separates us from God Who is the source of all life. Sin is reason for death, pain, misery, horror, destruction...
If you are not bot or satanist, I would recommend to see some priest or some wise man who will listen to you and help you overcome troubles you feel you are in. It is not wise to curse source of you life and source of love and peace. That is way into eternal misery and regret. God bless you my friend and I wish you well!

I'm not interested in finding God if God is just imaginary. But I'm always interested in finding the truth. So, if "God" is the truth, then I want to find that. But _only_ if it's the truth. If God is just wishful-thinking, then I don't want to "find God."
And sorry, but Jordan Peterson's word-salad isn't going to convince me. As far as I can tell, Jordan Peterson is like a dumb person's idea of what a smart person sounds like. Instead, how about *one piece of good evidence, specific enough and in enough detail that I can judge it for myself,* that your god is real, rather than just imaginary (like every other god, right?).
Why is *one* too much to ask? Why is it _always_ too much to ask of theists (Christian and Muslim alike)? Evidence is how we distinguish reality from delusion and wishful-thinking, so no amount of word-salad is going to convince me that your religious beliefs aren't just wishful-thinking. It's going to take evidence, _good_ evidence. Got any?

In order to find something, that something has to be shown to exist.
Part of that process of showing is actually being clear about defining what that "something" is.
In literally thousands of years of trying, by the finest minds religion has to offer, no one, ever, has ever been able to properly define a divine omnipotence (hence tens of thousands of religions) or show evidence for existence of said entity (hence thousands of gods).
It's more than a bit disingenuous to pretend to solve that millennia-old problem in an 11 minute youtube clip.
Some people may find religion useful, personally or socially, and if it gets you through the dark night, fine.
I'd prefer just to turn on the light of reason, to chase away the shadows of superstition.

You won’t find God by listening to a Catholic priest-especially, when he quotes a Jesuit! You find God by obeying what the Bible (Jesus) instructs... Which is to repent and become born again, which is born of God’s Spirit. Jordan Peterson is CLUELESS about God-he thinks God is a philosophical and psychological study. Knowing God is a total belief in Jesus:
John 7:39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
