This is absolute genius!!! I tried 4 different kinds of fly boots and they either fell off or were too short. I bought elastic and leggings today, and in a matter of minutes, cut, assembled, and put it on my donkey. He is now fly free and is SO HAPPY!!!!!! I can't thank you enough!!
So inexpensive too, you can make new ones as needed every yr! We don't have our donkey anymore but I do remember shopping around for the fly boots and they were very expensive for not even covering the whole legs, ours used to get chewed up and down it's poor legs.
Yea the elastic definitely helps keep everything in place, they kept sliding down the way we did it before. And cheap to make again once these are no longer usable😁
Yes it definitely worked for us. Unfortunately we rehomed Odie a while ago but when we had him with the "pants" his sores were healing up beautifully, the fur was growing back and he was no longer getting bit🙌 Just make sure nothing is too constricting or tight. I've seen people make them with old jeans too😆
I love this idea. Thank you. Just ordered leggings and elastic from Amazon. I and my donkeys will appreciate this if it works. And if not, a good worthwhile attempt.
@@ourvisionfarm2893 Finally got all the materials to construct the Garter Belts. I too wonder how long they will last. I bought some suspender clasps and 1" elastic. They're gonna look like Fr***ch where's. But if it keeps the flies off YAY! I''d be happy to send you some of the suspender clasps if they work. I ended up with a lot. of them PM me if you want some. I'll update you. Let me know ow if you come up with a face/ear mask pattern and I'll do the same.
@@deborahlong9900 we don't have the donkey anymore, rehomed him about two yrs ago but thank you for the offer. Hopefully it lasts atleast through the rest of this heat/fly season!
Oh thank you but we rehomed the donkey 2 yrs ago and found a forever sanctuary home for the ponies while we went through some downsizing of the farm back then. now we just have sheep, pigs and poultry 😊
@@ourvisionfarm2893 I didnt even look at the original vid date, my bad. Glad he went to a good home though.....wish you good luck in the future, thanks for the reply
@@crli4353 no problem! Hopefully anyone looking for help runs across these comments and finds that channel😁 you can tell flies have been bad this yr because this old video has been circulating around lately. Poor donkeys❤️can't wait for cooler months!
I'm sorry i did not see a comment on this till now, we just went to walmart and bought the cheapest pair of woman's leggings they had at the time, nothing fancy, just needs to be stretchy ,material. I've even seen people make their own pants with fabric or cutting up an old pair of jeans.
